Coffee roasting day! ☕️😁☕️
Yes, first on the docket for the day, was to roast 5 pounds for my Portland, Oregon customer. What you see in the first picture is green coffee beans just beginning their journey to savory, oily, dark roasted coffee beans! This next picture shows them about a third of the way through a roasting cycle that typically takes around 13-15 minutes.
Our micro roasters are fluid bed type and do a wonderful job.
Then, as I was working on that, @silvertop headed outside to do some demo work on our old deck. Unfortunately, it did a job on him instead. He threw his back out.
I had run out of packing tape, so we went to the dollar tree to get some and to see if maybe a car ride and a little walking might help. It did, so once we got home, I fixed the coffee package to mail and we set out for the post office. He was feeling a little better, so we met Jan at 4 pm for a short hike to the off grid cabin.

There was a fire way out in the valley and you can tell by the smoke pattern that we are headed for some inclement weather. They're saying snow. I say, we will see.
Tomorrow sees me attending ladies Bible study.

The smell of coffee in the mornings, it always keeps us company, how nice that you make your own coffee and even for your customers, I'm sure it must be very good.

The coffee is great! I can't bring myself to purchase already been roasted coffee from the store, lol! I guess I am spoiled!

Coffee always makes us happy! Smelling the green beans before they are roasted; smelling them as they slowly begin the roasting journey, and then smelling the blue thick smoke that comes as they are in their popping stage! Then, of course, once it's done! I wish I could bottle the smoke!
I never saw coffee beans being roasted. That's what I want to see!
