Here are my week one hundred and forty nine recommendations for Three Tune Tuesday

** Drum roll please.....**

Sigur Rós - Glósóli

I'm sure that most of you have heard of Sigur Rós, but I really hope that at least a few of ye have not and that this post can be an introduction. The Icelandic band are as much artists, as they are musicians and are very special, as are the music videos for the tunes that follow.

Every so often a band or a solo artist comes along that knocks my socks off. I take a step back and think Wow. Then, I thank the universe for the arts, for music, for humanity, for togetherness.

The band that I am going to share with you today is such a band. Believe it or not, I can acytually remember exactly where I was when I first heard about them. It would have to be fifteen years ago or more. I had just spent a week in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, the city of Dubrovnik in Croatia.

There are few places like Dubrovnik, an absolute feast for the senses and we were locally enough to have local friends too, who allowed us to scratch further beneath the surface. It is quite well known now after appearing in Game of Thrones, but we were lucky enough to visit long before Game of Thrones. We had the holiday of a lifetime, but like all good things the holiday had to come to an end, so we boarded our flight and took to the skies.

For a reason that escapes me my wife and I sat in different rows and I was all set to sleep for the couple of hours of the flight, but instead a guy sat down beside me and after some quick chat, we got talking about music and for the two hour flight we continued to talk about music. He was on his way back from a music festival and he had been absolutely blown away by the band I am about to share with you.

There will be some of you who have never heard of Sigur Rós and others again, who may not know this song or may know the song but not the video. What I would ask you to do is fully immerse yourself in the song and the video for the next 6 minutes and let you know what you think. The crescendo to finish the song is like no other, and blew me away when I first saw it, and still blows me away and makes the hairs stand up on my arms when I watch it. Pure magic. The song and video work so well together, so try and watch and listen if you can at all.

Sigur Rós - Hoppípolla

Another song that just makes me smile, with the folks from Sigur Rós singing in their hybrid Icelandic-English language. Nobody else speaks this language by the way, the band kind of came up with it themselves. This one makes me think of my childhood, as well as thinking about growing old. I hope to be up to mischief when I'm old and wrinkly, just as I was as a child. That's exactly what this next song conjures up.

In Glósóli, I believe the song really strikes a note with me, as I often dream about flying and so when the children step off the edge of the cliff and fly through the sky with smiles etched onto their little faces, I think that this reminds me of my own dreams and the way the song builds and builds and builds with the drums is just fantastic.

This song is as much about the video as anything else and the importance of childhood and old age and how really the two can be quite alike in so many ways.

Sigur Rós - Olsen Olsen

If you have made it this far let's face it many don't have an attention span beyond two minutes these days then you will be quickly coming to realisation that Sigur Rós are something very different to most any band you've ever heard. It is almost like they become the music. No running around geeing up the crowd or smashing guitars here. Just mind filling earthly tones and wholesome music that one can really connect with.

Be prepared to go down a Sigur Rós rabbit hole if they are new to you and also start pining for a trip to Iceland to see this beautiful country in all it's rugged beauty and perhaps even bump into the band, yep it's pretty small in terms of population - 377,689 to be exact. So, you really could bump into them!

Three Tune Tuesday

That's right, it's Tuesday folks and for our merry little band of ladies and lads, that means sharing tunes, good vibes and engagement. As another week disappears in the rearview mirror, we have loads of engagement and tunes flying around on Three Tune Tuesday and sure isn't that bloody fantastic! I hope you're ready to share three tunes from wherever you find yourself on this magical spinning lump of rock that we all call home and sure you might even sing us a tune if we're lucky?

It's a time of the week when lovers of music, tunes and craic bring their blockchain community three of their finest and brightest tunes to share and celebrate, so let's roll on and let the tunes flow free.

This is my 149th week waxing lyrical for Three Tune Tuesday and we are still going strong.

It started off with me just sharing tunes into what seemed like a void, but little by little others joined and now I'm thrilled that we have a little corner of Hive where we come and share our tunes every Tuesday, and long may it continue. I almost stopped posting the songs and thoughts a few times, but I stuck with it and now interestingly it is my favorite thing about Hive. I love music and now I have a network of folks around the world who love music too and we share our tunes and catch up with each others tunes and discuss them each week. We get Pop, Metal, Rock, Gospel, Folk, Jazz, Rap, Hip-Hop, Trip-Hop, Reggae, Bippy bappidy Flange Hop. Ok I made that one up, but you get the idea, we are all learning about new artists, bands, back stories and sure isn't it just mighty!

Something that excites me the most is that we even get musicians sharing their covers of famous songs and even their own songs from time to time here on #ThreeTuneTuesday, which is a real favorite of mine, as that takes talent, time and dedication.

We are adding New posters and retaining our core of regulars here on #TTT which is fantastic. Let's keep it growing. Weekly, I try to find four to six hours to listen to all of the fantastic music shared from like-minded folk from around the globe and interact with their posts. This has led me to genres I don't know well and to some amazing new bands and artists and has even introduced me to some musical instruments I did not know existed. It also allows me to upvote smaller accounts and find some really interesting people from all over the world, which is heartening.

I hope you enjoy the tunes - be sure to tell me all about it in the comments below and above all else, please enjoy the rest of your Tuesday - smile at a stranger, rub a dog, be a nice human to someone who was not expecting it - peace out.

For those unfamiliar with TTT or Three Tune Tuesday....

Ya very chilled vibes alright, it's the mix between music and music video where the real magic resides

We all have those songs and artists that remind us of our childhood. For you, it's Sigur Rós.

I love to discover music I never knew about. I'm just learning about Sigur Rós for the first time and I must say, I like their style of music.

Nice one man, glad to have introduced you to them 👍🏻

I've definitely heard of them. I can't say that I am super familiar with much of their stuff though.

They're worth a deep dive. Takk is probably the most accessible album to start with.

New one altogether for me, but I like it. It has the calming vibe to it, very cool! You always seem to find some new obscure music I've never heard before!

I'd recommend you check out the album Takk. It's the first one I got into and is sublime 👌🏻
