Should AI Or Shouldn't AI?

So as most people must be aware is that there was another solar storm on the 10th of October 2024, however, as I'd not been very well and only found out at the last minute, I couldn't get to a location to get some epic shots, until now...

The above shot is the original version of my Aurora picture, I was never happy with the foreground and so I thought I'd try and do a bit of experimentation with the shot, initially I thought about using an image I had taken from a previous shoot, but I thought, why not try a bit of AI..

Loading the picture into photoshop, I used the generative fill feature, I highlited part of the image and typed in what I wanted, it gave me a few options, but I opted for this tree in the foreground, however, it was still missing something, so I highlighted another part of the image and typed in "water with reflections", and it came up with this, this is the sort of image I would have loved to have taken, but at short notice, I thought a bit of AI would do the job perfectly.

Although on closer inspection the image isn't perfect, it does do a pretty good job of what I had imagined as a great shot.

Just bear in mind though, the sky is completely real, I do love a good aurora show.

What are your thoughts on using AI? I admit I won't be using it very often, but personally to help enhance a image, I can't see there being any problem.

Thanks for reading.

All the best :-)
