Blue...and some white

A couple weeks ago I took a few photos of a cologne I personally use. You can view those images here if you would like to. At the same time I took shots of one of my other colognes called Incanto Blue by designer, Salvatore Ferragamo, it's one I wear from time to time.

I know these photos aren't all that impressive, it wasn't my intention really, fun and enjoyment was.

I just liked the colourings on, and shapes of, the bottle and lid and I wanted to see if I could photograph it with any degree of interest. I'm not sure if that worked out for me however I'm happy to share these images and let people like them or denigrate them as they see fit.

Besides the colouring and shapes on the bottle itself I like how the reflection on the lid reflects distorted shapes and colours and picks up some highlights from the light-ring in the top of my lightbox. Also the way the texture on the white background I used comes through distorted the bottle in some of the shots is kind of cool.

This shot below is one I like a lot, it's very basic of course, one wouldn't even recognise it as a cologne bottle I guess, butt I like the blue light glowing on the textured white of the background mat I used and how one can just see the bottle all blurred in the back of the shot.

I've been using my lightbox to photograph a lot of things and I think photographing this cologne bottle, and the one in the other post linked above, have been a couple of the most enjoyable shoots; they're large subjects so easily focused (my dinosaur eyes aren't as good as they used to be), and the shapes and colours look nice in photos I think.

But that's it for me I guess, from here it's your turn. You may like to comment, I always respond, and feel free to photograph one of your own colognes or perfumes and drop it into a comment with some text about why you like it.

I think the shapes definitely complement the bottles, allowing for interesting shots. The setup is clean and you don't use any props and yet, you create an atmosphere. All the shots are well-composed!

Very nice.

I was reading some of the comments and putting perfume in my hair is one of those little tricks that my mother also taught me. It is subtle but very effective.

This looked fun! Thank you~!

Thanks Denise, I do what I can with what I have. Props, are not really something I have I guess, or at least I don't really know what all I'd use for them so a bottle and nothing else is it.

Another hair-perfumer huh? I'd give it a try but would probably ended up getting myself in the eye! 🤪

Those images are fantastic, Galen, they are like you're a human being without complexes, you love the colors and the blue speaks of someone who likes to walk through life very calmly, with your choices, and that makes you the protagonist with the casual style, of your own life. That makes you unique.

My favorite perfume is the Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel and the traditional 5 as well, they are sensitive and feminine fragrances like my essence.

I love applying perfume to my hair, lol.

I would like to buy The Signorina, for its special aroma of patchouli or AMO de Ferregamo... very erotic aromas.

Thanks, I'm really happy with these photos.

Perfume in your hair? That's a new one to me. Is it common for ladies to do that?

The perfume lasts on the skin, It is not common, but that has always been my secret, is very sensual to apply it on my hair (a little bit) before getting dressed, the idea is that the movement of my hair intensifies the aroma, and it turns out to be a considerable attraction in my step... I learned it from my mom, lol.🌺

Sensual hair...it makes sense I guess. Your mom had some good ideas.

It is pretty cool the thought and flare they put into the design elements of bottles like that. Some of those perfume bottles are works of art in themselves. I guess that is probably part of the reason that they are so dang expensive!

They put so much into the bottles, like art for sure, as you say. All in the name of marketing and it probably works too.

The cologne looks good. It looks so attractive and can even help to guess the kind of scent it will have
I'm sure the scent will be so good...

It smells pretty good, I usually get complimented on it when I put it on.

I remember photography my Cool Waters by Davidoff back in December thanks to a provoking challenge by @RubenCress.

This takes me back.

Additionally, your attention to detail and process in photography is reminiscent of some literature I’m enjoying at the moment by Robin Perry.

I’m curious; how did you achieve your blank white background? Post process in Photoshop or another way, during the actual shoot?

Either way, your method ends with some crisp product shots of your cologne. Blue also happens to be my favorite color, as well.

I don't edit my photos on software, I don't know how. I use a lightbox which is lined with cloth, black, white, blue, green, yellow etc...you can see it in my other photography posts if you look for them in my post feed.

I use an Olympus mirrorless camera as stated in the post and use whatever lighting I can come up with, torches, natural light and so on. I like the process of getting the picture and don't see the point in trying to make it perfect using Photoshop...life is imperfect.

Amazing!...you make it looks so precious with these shots....it does not remain an ordinary cologne anymore....

Thanks mate, I was pretty happy with how these ones came out actually. Makes the effort worth it.

I have crush on Blue.....like the way pink is associated with girls blue is colour for boys...this is what made me to like this pictures more...

Galenkp - a good human, nice writer , perfect shooter, awesome Photographer, nature lover....... what else I am missing 🤔

Thanks for your great comments on my photos mate, I really appreciate it.

Umm...I think you covered most things with that list but good human is the best one...although, I'm still working on tha lt one, haven't attained it yet.

You seem to like blue and fresh fragrances a lot. I used to like such fragrances too, and I still do; yet, I don't know what it is, but recently I've fallen in love with the musky, woody and earthy notes. Some fragrances with the combination of all 3 can be so mysteriously good, I can't even explain it in words.

If you can, then I'd suggest you check out the Lalique Encre Noire EDT. It's not one of the top brands, but it has gained some popularity and love in this region of the world. I have feeling that you just might like it haha.

I like different types and change them depending on the weather, season and time of the day/occasion. I don't always wear a cologne, like when I go hunting for very obvious reasons, but I think a little well-deployed cologne can be nice, make a statement... although wearing too much is not a good thing. I'll check out that one you mention, see if it's available here. Cheers.

For now I only have 3; one for summer time, one for winter and one that's somewhere in the middle. And even though I'd like to get one or two more, the absurd prices here don't let me do so.

A fragrance that costs $50 abroad, will cost around $80 here, which I think is crazy. Because $50 alone is already a lot of money for a damn fragrance.

a little well-deployed cologne can be nice, make a statement

It actually can say a lot about a person, if done right. I'm no fragrance-freak, but I say that everyone should have at least one good fragrance, one that suits them and their style.

although wearing too much is not a good thing

I get what you mean, because there are some people who smell like they've spilled half a bottle of cologne on their clothes. Some just love to overdo it. 😂

That's understandable, but you don't have much less than I do to be honest, I make sure what I have is multi-purpose as things are costly here too.

Some just love to overdo it.

Like they take a bath in it. Lol.

Like they take a bath in it

EXACTLY! I guess they don't read the instructions, but are there any instructions though? I think it's more about common sense. 😂

I think in place of instructions is common sense. I don't get those people who use so much, it's so costly! They must have more money to waste than I do, or just be idiots.

They must have more money to waste than I do, or just be idiots.

A bit of both let's say. 😬

If you didn't want to impress with these images, you did. From my point of view the images are cool, especially the blue color of the packaging together with the white background that accompanies it, make a perfect combination.
Well done gentlemen @galenkp

Thank you, I appreciate your favourable comments and am pleased you found some interest in my images. It's enjoyable to do the photography process and I do it for myself, but it's nice to get comments like yours too.

Woww they look like pictures from a cologne advert, I love them! The 2 is the most wonderful and the 3 is fabulous.... still the 2nd one is my favourite because it really looks like an advertisement.

The blue colour in contrast with the white looks great. I really like the top, it's original and very beautiful.

I owe you the picture of my favourite perfume, it's a rose perfume, very rich, I love it! Not all perfume scents are good when they touch the skin, it's like they smell different whether they are on the skin or not, and I like this one a lot.

I'll have to try to take some pictures of it, let it be the protagonist!😀

Thanks, they came out ok considering I have no clue what I'm doing with a camera. I enjoy the process though and that's what counts. Having said that, it's nice to get some good feedback so thanks for that.

You're a great photographer, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I love your work! and whether you have a great idea or it comes naturally to you.

I congratulate you!

No one here knows I take photos. No one knows ai post on Hive either. So, it's done just for me and whomever on Hive happens to see my photography and posts and there's no risk of someone in my real life telling me I'm not a good photographer. To be honest though, I'm just happy being a bad one who achieves a decent result now and then.

I don't think anyone in real life would tell you that... I want to take pictures like that!

I don't think so either, but I don't publicise what I do, don't seek accolades and recognition; I just do what I do for myself and find happiness in that.

And you do it excellently, it's not a compliment, it's the reality.

Lid of the cologne is unique and it's design is impressive one. The second last shot which you mentioned that it is one of your favorite and basic one is beautiful and one cannot guess that it is cologne.

Surely unique, I think that's what they focus on when they design these bottles, because it helps sales I suppose.

Lovely photographs, as always. I love the simplicity on them, and yet they have impact, the contrast of blue against white. Beautiful.

Becca 🌷

Thank you, I appreciate your compliment on my photos and am glad you liked them.

That's one thing about creativity ... barely looking at a thing you could with your instinctive mind create a thousands ways to make use of it in a fantastic ways....I like when you make photographs, somehow they inspiree to go into photography...

Gracias Amigo🍻

Thanks, I try to create interesting images as I'm not into sharing things I think look bad, however it's all about the process for me, the enjoyment of it.
