Updates, upgrades, and moving on!

Ok! This needs to stop! This sitting on piles and piles of material. This keeping a backlog that keeps getting more giant with every passing day. It is pretty safe to say that, at this rate, I will never get to it. And maybe that is just fine. I need to let go of it and post as soon as I feel the first inkling of doing so. The more time passes, the bigger the chance I will get overwhelmed by the piles.

So, that is that. And now you know why the heck I had fallen off the edge of the Hive realm. Time for a fresh start! Damn! Just typing this out makes me feel better! I can be very harsh and demanding of myself. It is ok. I just took a little break instead.

It is pretty powerful stuff to let yourself stop holding on to things of the past.

It is time to move on.

DSCF0349.png

I spent a lot of time this year on expanding my garden. It has been my main focus in the spring and summer months. Now, I am enjoying the fruits of my labor. August is the month when all my flowers become happy and show off their beautiful blooms. They are stunning, and every time I walk through my garden, I can’t help but smile. Even the storm we had in June could not keep them from their destiny. The wind knocked down most of my dahlias, and they lost a bunch of the stems. Yet they recovered and overcame it.

DSCF0356.png

I am happy to share these images of my flowers as I finally took the step to upgrade to a new camera from my old one - the Nikon D3300. I had heard many great things about Fujifilm cameras, and upon my research, I decided X-H2 is a good fit for me.

I am satisfied with my choice. It captures so much detail and depth in the images and the colors! I love it! And it is pretty great for videos.

Of course, I am still to learn all it has to offer. I screwed a bunch of images by overexposing them. I am not sure how I managed that, but probably because I did not look hard enough. It is very punchy, yet I get some out-of-focus images if I am not careful. So, it might be true that Fujifilm needs to improve upon that.

For now, I only have the lens that came with it as a kit - XF16-80mm F4 R OIS WR. As an amateur, I am pretty pleased with the range it provides for the time being, and as we all know, lenses are expensive. Woah! I have a lot of learning to do before I am ready for that kind of investment.

All photos in this post were shot with Fujifilm X-H2, and apart from very tiny cropping here and there and resizing, they are unedited. I did not feel the need to adjust a thing about the vibrancy and colors of the camera itself.

All this is lighting the fire under my bum to improve my photography skills and take them to the next level. I will be taking some courses soon! ^^

Most of the shots of my flowers turned out to be close-ups except this one. But further in the post, you will find more of the opposite spectrum the lens I have has to offer.

But then we found ourselves walking on a path through the mosquito-infested forest (luckily, you can’t get the annoying buzzing in your ears and the bites through this photo, and, instead, it looks like an enchanted fairy forest with the bright green greenery) leading to a bird watching tower near Burtnieki lake. The meadows there are part of a nature reserve. Many endangered and not endangered birds and other lifeforms find a peaceful solace.

DSCF0612.png

We did not see any birds or animals. Maybe we heard them somewhere in the distance. We only saw humans who left the place before us and who came after us. The tower, however, was a nice spot to catch a moment of quiet and chill until more people arrived again with their noises. Humans are so noisy. At least there were no mosquitos up there, and the view was pretty nice.

DSCF0579.png

@lemony-cricket and I thought it would be a neat spot for an outdoor office.

DSCF0580.png

DSCF0581.png

No. I probably will not start a new bird-watching hobby any time soon. It would be cool to see them up close. Sure! I would need binoculars or a telephoto lens for my camera, but that is not on my priority list.

Wouldn’t you want to touch this grass? xD I am going to send these photos of the grass to all those who need a reminder to go outside more.

What else is new? That is the question I always ask humans. We are traveling to Croatia soon and going to Hivefest there. And I am looking forward to the crisp autumn after, which I shall spend on more artsy ventures as my garden will demand less of me. Those pesky weeds will not stop growing! Grrr!

yay! you're alive =D

the garden looks stunning, surely not just because of the nice color reproduction.

Yup. Seems it xD

Thank you, Fraenk! It is a lot of work. As soon as my attention shifts to other things I have to play the game of catching up. It keeps me on my toes, but I do not mind it. It is very good for me.

I really wonder why? I thought at first that maybe it's because you've used peakd to upload them so whenever you are visiting ecency or hive.blog and they use their imageproxy services to present you those pictures, those are re-encoded again loosing some quality... but then I saw that actually on a peakd it's loaded from hive.blog imagehoster instance :-D

Anyway, your outdoor office looks awesome :-)

Oh, and of course, see you at HiveFest :-)

Song of the Grey: Summer’s Almost Gone - The Doors

I did use Peaked to compose the post and technically I did upload them through Peaked. Maybe that affects something, but I really don't know why it is like that.

Yay, the song of the Grey is back and as always on theme and great pick! :)

11 days! Aaaaa!

Just typing this out makes me feel better!

Yipeeee that's the spirit !Lady

Just let them all out and you would feel so much better.

Beautiful garden and pictures you've got there😊

Thank you for your comment @ibbtammy and for your encouragement!

I am glad I have bunch of records of all kinds of fun things and experiences. It is just that it does not mean that I always have to go into the content mode about it. But that said, I feel better now that I have decided it is fine I don't post about them all.

I am so grateful I have a garden. It is a true blessing that keeps giving.

It’s great to see you back! Letting go of that backlog must feel like a huge weight lifted. The learning curve is all part of the fun🤗

The story about the bird-watching tower is a nice touch—nature always has something new to offer, even with those pesky mosquitoes. Being outdoors is always a joy. With Croatia and Hivefest on the horizon, there are some exciting adventures ahead. Looking forward to seeing what’s next😇

Thank you! Yeah, I think it snowballed pretty fast and before I knew it I was unable to move forward. But like you said we live and learn.

Nature is where I feel the best :)

It will be my first time visiting Croatia. I love exploring new places. Can't wait! And hopefully I will do a better joy posting about it sooner.

I could not agree more with you🤗. I am so grateful that i get to spend all my time in the nature😇

I love the flowers 🌹🌹🌸🌸🌸🌹🌹 they are so so beautiful 😍😍❤️❤️😍😍😍

Same! I love, love them! You know some people do not see the point in growing flowers. I don't get them! Just look at them! They make me so happy! :)

They are just too beautiful 😍😍 not to have

Thanks for feeding the bugs.

Ha ha ha ha! Those buggers have been feasting on my carcass almost every day when I am in the garden. No amount of spraying keeps them away longer than ten minutes. It is worth the pain anyway. I suffer for beauty xD

There are plants that help keep some bugs away, naturally. I think you need to be standing in a entire field of those plants for that to work though.

Get a couple purple martin houses going. It's also mostly a myth they eat a lot of mosquitos, but they're still fun to watch. They'll swoop at you, making you think you're in danger of being attacked by birds, but really they're just eating the cloud of bugs around you. That's how it works. The human disturbs the bugs and the birds come and eat them. And bird shit is good fertilizer as well. Isn't nature wonderful.

I love these kind of flowers, thank you for sharing these to us

Aww! I am happy to share them! Truly! I hope these images give everyone a spark of joy!

Woah, thanks guys! @dimascastillon90!

You're most welcome @m31 :)

You did a lot of work on your garden and that is why your plants are looking very good and healthy
You’ve got beautiful flowers!

It is my little oasis. I enjoy every second there and it tells me a lot about myself. It is hard work and whenever I catch myself struggling with some tasks there, it is a good indicator about the state of my mind.

This year I introduced so many new flowers there. I might write more about it.

Thank you @rafzat!

High quality photo of flowers you took, what camera did you use?

That I hope I did! ^^ It is Fujifilm X-H2, with XF16-80mm F4 R OIS WR lens.

Thank you, how can you understand by looking at the photo?

Seeing your post with so many beautiful flowers as part of it makes my day start a lot better, no joke! I miss seeing flowers! Congrats on your camera upgrade BTW :)

I am happy they sparked joy and a better start of the day to you @gabrielatravels! I keep expanding the flowery parts of my garden. This year they even took over some of the veggie beds. I just can't get enough. I am also beginning to introduce more and more of perennials and it will be fun to see them fully develop probably next years.

Thank you! Yeah, I can't wait to capture more beauty around the world too. Croatia first! :)

Congrats on the new camera! You have a beautiful garden.

I am glad to see you're back. See you soon! 😉❤️

Thank you so much @zirochka! It's my pride and joy, and my peaceful haven all in one!

Aaa, I am so happy to see you again soon! 5 Days! And awesome you will have some awesome people with you this time too! :)

Your flowers are just beautiful, taking photos of them with your new gadget really suits you. I agree that the bumblebee shot is the cherry on the top. Something you wrote in your post made me ponder:

Even the storm we had in June could not keep them from their destiny. The wind knocked down most of my dahlias, and they lost a bunch of the stems. Yet they recovered and overcame it.

I can't stop wondering if it is the same in our life, when storms come and almost put us to the ground yet we stubbornly refuse to sit defeated and choose to rise like your bold colorful dahlias..

That is so beautifully put and spotted @creativemary! Throughout the years of gardening I as well arrive to similar life teachings. They reveal themselves in most unexpected ways, often while I work out there. The mind is so much clearer in the nature.

There could be many storms ahead of us, my hope is that we always remain stubborn and not let them to defeat us!

🤗Nature will always be the greatest teacher and doctor.

I just wrote my first post after almost two months. I think we all need a break once in a while, it is only human.

Your flowers are gorgeous and your pictures too. I am sure you are going to have a great time with your new camera.

I wish I could end this message saying "see you in hive fest" but I am afraid I won't make it, not even this year with Croatia so close to my home.

Cheers!

Welcome back you too @fotostef! ^^ Yea, in my case I am just a bit mad at myself about things I did not post while this "little" break for me happened. But I just got to start posting and who knows maybe I will post about all that still. The pressure got the best of me. The pressure that I created for myself.

I hope I will improve my abilities. The camera, of course, does a lot of work already.

Aww. Well, maybe next time then? There also smaller Hive meetups happening every now and then. I went to Hivebeecon last year right after Hivefest in Krakow. It would be soo nice to meet you!

Thanks :)

Pressure can be creative or devastating, it depends on many factors. I think deep inside we all know what's best for ourselves. We just have to follow our rhythm.

Have a great time in hivefest. Hopefully we'll meet in person eventually :)

Oh, this is a very motivating return, and with plans just around the corner ((( HiveFest ))) Wow.
For the birds you will need a telephoto lens. They are expensive but if you can afford it you won't regret it, bird photography is therapeutic. It helps a lot with reflection and patience hahaha....

Nice garden.

Thank you @nanixxx! 5 days and counting down! It will be so much fun to test more of X-H2 capabilities! The architecture in Split seems amazing. And of course, I plan to post about how it went at the Hivefest too. I love this event! I love how it travels around the world and gives us opportunity to explore the places together with likeminded people.

Ahaha! Maybe I eventually will spy on the birds in my garden! I have a bird bath for them there and visiting places like the one in post would get more interesting too.

Nice garden.

Thanks! ^^

😄 Cool. I wish you success!

Loved that place, it looks too nice. Also your flowers, and the pictures of them looked great. I wish I was surrounded by so much nature and beauty.

Thanks @jasminum!

Maybe there are some gardens nearby you could visit? I want to do that some time. Like, visiting the botanical gardens or some gardener's life's work. I just did not get the time for it this year. Busy nonstop. It is funny how life is sometimes.

Eyy! You got flowers in your name too! :)

Certainly, sometimes we are so busy that we don't have time to do something we like to do. In my case I live in a small city, I am not sure if there are gardens to visit, but I always go to the park to walk. There are lawns and all that, and people playing sports. There are not so many flowers, but it is still relaxing. There is also a small pond where you can watch the ducks and so on.
Yes, I also have flowers in my name. Hahaha 😅

Spending time in the garden and enjoying the beauty of these flowers will definitely improve your eyesight and mind. Beautiful flowers, amazing photography and great writing style

Well put @momins! It is truly my healer. I am grateful for it beyond words.

Thank you! Oh, you know I was a bit nervous about my post and writing. I jump around with topics I guess. But there is only one way to improve and that is more writing and posting. So I needed to get over it.
