He's a sharp one, I know that. I think he's a Sable German Shepherd or "Alsatian" for all @meesterboom's mates in attendance. They don't acknowledge Germany in the UK. But he walks, talks, demands attention, is obedient, loyal, listens and learns remarkably quick just like one. Willy, Hive - Hive, Willy.



Adorable, I know he's that. As long as it starts with Willy, he'll know who you're talking to. I've been calling him Willy Wonka. Pura calls him Willy Nilly.

He'll respond to Willy Nelson, Willy Butt, Willy Daniels whom you've never heard of, I went to school with him. Willy Mays, Willy Mays Haze, Willy McGee, Willy whoever or just Willy.

Willy and his three siblings are from Cincinnati, shipped south 220 miles to Knoxville last weekend. Animal shelters try to avoid exterminating puppies born at their facility as they become overcrowded because they're easiest to re-home. Unfortunately not every shelter is equipped to spay/neuter.

So the shelter calls around to local and distanced no kill shelters equipped to spay/neuter until someone answers the phone. Unless standby foster families are willing to assist no kill shelters, they have no choice but to refuse the puppy due to lack of space. The one down the street knows they can count on us so when we got the call to save Willy's life, it was a BIG FAT no brainer.



Willy and his brothers and sister will each undergo surgery on Friday—fixed. Then they'll recover over the weekend and be ready for adoption on Monday. He was filthy when we got him, most are, poor bastards. We like to get them all cleaned up and shiny, smelling pretty and puppy breath on point for the first family they see so they can't be denied.

They take up hardly any room at all. The shelter will provide everything you need to foster a puppy for a couple weeks—nothing out of pocket. They're good at keeping you company, too, they're puppies so a few fetches and they're exhausted. They don't eat much, poops are tiny enough they're no big deal, don't have to clothe them or anything.

Occasionally they get thirsty, have water on standby, easy peazy. They'll drink it and maybe chew on something for a minute but all they really want is attention. It's reciprocal. Tough to be in a bad mood with a puppy in the house. #HouseGuest.
