“Let the heavens know that I tried my best with you, Hakeem! I can’t do this anymore!”

“Then leave! I have never for a day forced you to stay with me. You can go on with your Christian ways and just leave me with my religion!”
Racheal stared into his eyes, searching for sympathy of any kind that she could hold on to but she found none. Instead, behind those eyes, all she saw were fury and determination. He wasn’t willing to back down on his words.
“And our child?”
“You mean your child, Racheal. Do not associate that thing inside you with me. You know damn well that thing does not belong to me!”
“How could you say that, Hakeem? After everything we’ve been through together. I suffered with you but you would go back on me now that you have a little wealth to your name?”
“You have done nothing for me. I worked my ass out to achieve everything that I own. You should do the same!”
“You know I want to. You know I have a career I want to choose but you brainwashed me. I lived all of my life for you. I gave up everything for you; my family and friends. I stood by you. I have no life of my own and you know that. How can I chase my dream now when I haven’t even laid to birth?”
He facepalmed, ruffling his hair as he paced around the room. He was getting frustrated with her cries and her words. He wanted to yell at her but he was holding on to the little respect he has for her.
“I didn't force you to do any of this for me. Listen, I’d pay you back or something but just get out of my house right now!” he half-yelled.
Racheal blinked back the tears that had welled up in her eyes even though she failed since the tears still rolled down her cheeks but Kareem care less.
“I regret the day I met you. I wish I didn't live my life with you and waste my youthful days with you.”
“You’re still pretty young. You’d find someone else.”
“I know I will. Just know that I have nothing against your religion. I knew you were a Muslim before I agreed to be with you but having another woman? No!”
“Fine. Just leave!”
She was done packing her things now and slowly, she dragged her luggage on the ground, rubbing her belly as she walked out of the room. She looked back at Kareem to see if he had any form of remorse towards her but she saw none in his eyes. She shut her eyes to take in the new reality of homelessness that she was about to walk into before she finally walked out of the house.
Racheal stood on the porch for a few minutes, lost in her thoughts as to where she could go. Her parents live continents apart from her. She had moved away from America to Iraq with Kareem because, in her words, she was in love with him. She had no one in the city she could run to and no money since Kareem controlled all of her financial life. She was pathetic and felt a feeling of empathy towards her fetus.
She had lived with Kareem for five years and all she had out of the said marriage was just a small box. She had lost herself in the process of loving him.
“How could he want to bring home another woman? Was I supposed to accept that?” she said to herself with tears streaming down her eyes.
She literally had no one. Not friends or family. She left all of them behind, fighting them when they were all blatantly against her marriage to Kareem and Kareem’s family would rather chew glass and nails than accept her.
“I’m homeless now, hopeless as well!” she said to herself as she walked away from the building but a resonating thunder sound lighting up the sky, and her fear was brought back.
“Oh, Racheal. What would you do if it rains?” she cried.
She walked briskly but their house was in the middle of nowhere and it takes a quick walk to get to the main road in thirty minutes.
She wiped her face, stood straight, and began her journey to the main street but soon, the sky was about to cry and in fact, cry heavily.
She did a little run but there was little to nothing a little run from a four months pregnant woman could do but she tried.
Soon, the sky unleashed its downpour, pouring heavily on her as she walked away with no destination but the main road in mind. Her tears mixed with the heavy rain and now she was drenched.
Rachael had walked for twenty-threw minutes now, tired and close to being lifeless. Treading on the last thread of strength she had, wobbling from side to side with her left hand clenched to her box and the other resting on her belly when a headlight showed behind her.
The rays of hope rose within her as she slowly turned around with exhaustion and the car stopped behind her. The driver rushed out and as he got closer to her, she froze in shock at who it was.
It was her brother.
“How…How did you find…find me?” she asked, hiccuping as she felt a sharp pain in her belly which was followed by a cascade of blood strolling down between her thighs.
“Oh… my… my God, Reid. I think I lost my…my baby…” She didn’t finish her sentence when she collapsed in his arms.
“I would have never neglected you, sister. I tracked you and I’m sorry it took this long to find you!” he explained to her unconscious self before rushing her into his car and driving away.
