Going up North to visit my dad.

in #life7 years ago

I went up to the north of Holland today to visit my dad.

There is a family party tomorrow and I decided to go a day early.

When I arrived my dad was sitting outside reading a book and we had a chat with a coffee.

He told me my aunt and uncle would also come today to stay over for the night.

Therefor we went to the butcher not much later to buy some nice meat I could prepare for all of us for dinner.

Every time I go to this buther I'm surprised about how extremely organised he is :)

Butcher Schell is a little more messy (but way more adventurous).

They also have great meat here though.

It's been a while since I used one of these bbq's (Weber).

It was fun.

It's the type of bbq I used for many many years before I bought a Green Egg.

I went for a combination of briquets and wood to grill the steaks on.

I think they turned out alright!

My aunt made a very nice quinoa salad.

It's a lot of fun here!

The steak looks great @exyle! When we owned a house and I grilled I soaked woodchips in water for about 15 minutes and put them in a small foil packet with a chimney formed at the top. The wood chips smolder produce a lot of smoke due to the water content and infuse the meat with incredible flavor. I learned this method from an old guy from the deep South.

It's time to write your cooking book Exyle!

Man @exyle those steaks look amazing! Have a great time with your family!

Very nice meal for your family Mark @exyle it is tough to get used to going back to the regular BBQ after you are so used to The Green Egg........

Your steaks came out beautifully as always, I bet they tasted like heaven. I can see Trevor relaxing in the background, hope you gave him a taste of that steak. Enjoy the party tomorrow :)

He got a small piece!

That's a fun get away! Your meal looks nourishing. How's Trevor's (hope I got the dog's name right) ears? On another note, @steemfeed made a post about the big accounts voting for Jerry Banfield, and I was surprised to see a few names on the list including Blockbrothers. I'd like to understand why you vote him for witness? He seems like an incredibly flaky selfish person to me. He gives me the heebeegeebees. Lastly, @taskmaster4450 posted this awesome thing for new users like me 😊 where you can mine crypto on your device and it converts to sbd. I think it's pretty cool but wanted to run it by you. All the best to you in North Holland all the way from the west prairies in Canada! 🐸☘🐸

His ears are getting better. Wednesday we go to the vet again for a checkup. But he looks more active and happy! Thanks for asking.

On your other question @blockbrothers no longer votes for him.

I saw the post by @taskmaster4450 but I have not tried it myself yet.

The good thing was that you went to visit your dad, I lost mine at the beginning of the year, and I really miss you a lot, you must take advantage of them while they are alive, it's worth the trip, even if they are far away, and the average meat looks divine, enjoy with the family is the maximum, greetings dear friend @exyle

Are you married dear exyle....... because there have no child your family pictures tell me right answer

wow....cool

Wow its looks like you have quality time with your family stay happy and stay bleesed ameen thank you

Great outing you had. The kitchen is huge and those barbeque are causing some salivation here.

A weekend with the family is the best leisure time. I wish you a great day tomorrow.)

Hahaha You are always cooking something delicious. Glad you can spend some time with your dad.

What a good day you've had a friend, that meat is great, nice family

pretty interesting day and fun to explore lots of exciting things

Wow, looks like you had a great meal! I am in the market for a new grill and I have been looking at moving back to the traditional Weber kettle. I have an offset barrel smoker right now. My dad just purchased a Kamado Joe and he loves it, but it looks like it is hard to do a direct sear on it. I feel like the Green Eggs have a similar issue. Do you do a lot of direct searing? Have you had any difficulty with the kamodo style grill?
