Couldn't agree more; I think the need to be watched-over remains long after many people have rejected ideas like guardian angels.
So they watch TV, which tells them that all of this innocuous information is only reluctantly used occasionally, by a sweet blonde lady, desperately trying to find the worst baddies in the world. It's programming alright.
