We have rented a car and took a drive across the island Crete. I have to say there are a lot of great places. You can see it is the end of the season because a lot of restaurants and bars are already closed, but nevertheless there is enough to see and do.
We went to Hersonisous (hope the spelling is right) and to amalia.
One thing that took my attention was the amount of wild cats. There are so many here,al eating and looking for food in containers. It must have hundreds of them. I saw some people even petting them and giving them food while bar personel is trying to get rid of them lol.
We ended the evening at a little taverne in Piskopiano. Not a fancy restaurant but a little one run by a family. Father and mother where running the kitchen while the son was the waiter. While the price was ridiculous low the food was amazing. Prepared with love, you could taste that.
They were also very very friendly and took time for us as guests, it was amazing and we enjoyed ourselves very much.
When we left we got a home.made raki , it was strong bu delicious.

That is very cool. Did it take a long time to drive from one end of the island to the other. I don't have a very good idea of just how big Crete is. I feel like it is pretty small, but then again I am not the best judge of things like that.
I think the island is about 130 km total. Its not that big. I do like the vibe and surroundings here.. just awesome
I hit up Google maps and I realized that it is longer West to East than it is North to South. I was thinking it was more uniform in shape.
