RE: Summer begins as Corona ends

in #norway4 years ago

The title was specific to Norway. I'm of course aware that the situation is very different in most of Europe. Here, however, we've had 5 related deaths in the past 3 weeks. Throughout the entirety of the pandemic, there have been just 30 deaths of people below the age of 70, 10 below the age of 60. Also, there's barely any new cases (we're talking 2-8 new people diagnosed per day despite testing still going on fully).

So it's not the case here that restrictions are loosening up due to hospitals being more capable of handling it, but rather that they have barely anything left to handle as the people on intensive care have also gone down gradually and is down 95% from the peak period.

So yes it's true that Corona is not "over", but until these numbers starts to point the other way, then it is indeed "ending".

Ah OK! Thanks for clarifying. Has testing been generalised in Norway?

That is what is sad with France. Why is the "hospital bar" so low, for such a rich country... The healthcare system here is apparently quite bad compared with the one of the northern countries. OK we have more cases connected to a larger population and quite dense centers, but the hospitals were overwhelmed in quite no time...
