Define pretty

in #ocd4 years ago

There are many reasons why a woman would choose to put make-up on her face. Usually it happens because she wants to be perceived as more beautiful and attractive. What is beauty after all? If 10 out of 12 like the way you look with make-up then... You are officially pretty?

Well you can't deny the power of make-up. Covering acne scars or just spots is a major benefit of that heavy foundation. Just like a decorative paint for your house walls, it gets the job done. The only downside with all of this "beautifying" process is what is left of you after you take it off. Inside.

Unfortunately I think it is wrong to put on make-up to get approval from others or to mask insecurity. If I were a guy on date... I would not like to smear my cheeks with illuminator and blush and taste that strangely sweet strawberry lipstick. I would just run for the hills the minute I would see a false eyelash dropping into the soup. But that's just me.

I would prefer a person comfortable in their own skin. Come on, we both know we are going to see those "I just got hit by a car" morning faces. Putting fancy powder over it won't make it better. And you won't have tic tac's near you all the time to hide that dragon breath and maybe you won't have fresh shaved legs all the time. We're people, not dolls.

I have found that using make-up as a way of being creative works much better than to use it as a cover up. I like to think of doing make-up as being a way of escaping reality. In a good way. In a way that makes me feel good even after I take it off. I now use make-up just in my artistic creations. I do not use it daily. I love my natural look more.

In this make-up look I wanted to go green. I loved putting small pink pearls to make the green pop. A little spring vibes were caught in my eyes. Although I can spend hours to do make-up on my liking, I am sure that the man that I would like to have around me will have to like me the most without it. And embrace the creative weirdo too. For me, that's what it means to be pretty: to be yourself.

Have a productive day and toodle loo!

The escape from reality could be, "show a different version of myself" couldn't it? I think this is important for people to do (not necessarily with makeup) as being comfortable in one's own skin is also understanding that who we are fluctuates continuously moment to moment and over a lifetime. I don't understand people being against makeup as if those who wear it are fake.

When a person changes their voice when talking to a child, a dog, a supervisor at work or a lover - which voice is real? Well, they all are, right?

Showing a different version is very good. Becoming one just to please is what I think is wrong. The human individual is so complex (at least some) that it demands to be known through various means of understanding

Well, my face may be without makeup, but I love eyes made up and more the way you did it, they look beautiful. I loved your color palette. Cheers.

Thank you! I love my natural look too

I am not a fan of barbies ( as I call heavily make upped women ) and always prefer the natural look for sure. Fake eyelashes falling in soup on a first date would scare me and probably also make me laugh. Long fake nails creep me out ( they remind me of witches and not the nice type of witches.

But yeah, sometimes - when for instance highlighting someone's eyes or in an artistic way ( like you've done here ) - make up can sure add value, make someone prettier.

By the way, I love how your hair and eyes seem to have the same color :<)

Thank you Vincent🤗 I agree, natural is better. I love long nails, even extravagant ones, but solely for the art behind it. I am proud of still having my natural hair colour. Planning to postpone colouring it with dye as much as possible.

:<)

My hair is starting to grey slowly, which is okay at the age of 38. I still have plenty of hair though. Can't wait for the George Clooney look though ;>)

Hahahha. Embracing our age is good. As long as the mind stays fresh I do not mind some grey hair

Well I think all your looks are pretty nice :), all 1000 faces of Mary lol

Thank you😁Hahaha I am like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get😂Keep it fun and surprising lol

LOL! I like it, you’ve got more flavours than baskin and Robbins

Hahaha that's a good one😂👏

That's a creative look. While on a date I prefer putting on light make up
My definition of beauty is being true to yourself and be comfortable with your own skin

Thank you😊 Natural is the best. Light make-up is cool

I wore make-up once...Three friends and i did a KISS concert for drama class at school., year eight. I was Peter Kris, the drummer. First and last time I wore make-up. The concert was a resounding success...The crowd, all 18 of them from my drama class, went crazy. I was the most popular make-up wearing dude in school, for about 3 minutes. Ah yes, the glory minutes. :)

Oooooo awesome!! That is a pretty bold make-up. Now that you mentioned this band.... There is one thing my memory strongly remembers about it😂😂 I think it is quite brave to perform and put whatever on your face. Why not. Art is art and the artist has the right to do whatever on his/her face.
The moments of glory.... What a wonderful taste of victory.

Victorious didn't extend to the grade we received for our efforts. A B-grade was not very inspiring to us. Still, better than a C. 😁

Haha definetely
