RE: A Couple Of Rocks With Nothing On Them

It's always interesting to explore without researching the area first :) ... Except for the graves, of course. What an awful way to treat others 😢

Spotted, sand-like print is undetectable against a bed of rocks or in grass or wherever they lay and wait. I know what to look for and still can't see what I'm looking at.

You need a good walking stick to swish in front of you as you walk in those places...

Is Atlas completely well???

Sort:

She is! Thanks more than THIS for asking. It was a tough five weeks, two of those were no pressure at all. I had my doubts, honestly, wasn't sure she was gonna get over that one. Felt so bad thinking I broke her.

I'm happy to report she's 100%. Jumping on and off things like a working dog, no hint of a limp. Check me out, get me talkin about Atlas I'm all bla bla bla bla bla.

Even more than Mornal. = }

Much thanks wrestlingdesires.

I'm glad she's perfect again :) It wasn't your fault, but things like that really are scary. What have you been teaching her lately???

She's got her two magic commands down, the one's where she won't move once directed and released.

All of the basic commands like walk, come, go, stay, and of course the little tricks, too. We're currently working on the heel. She just mastered walking on and off leash so the heel is a little challenging for her.

She's doing really good and I can hardly stand her in case you can't tell. She'll be tested in two weeks at the K-9 joint here for advanced placement which means I can then proceed with her to the bark / protect command (everything short of attack) which would then qualify her for airplane travel.

6n1/2 months and she just weighed in Saturday at 71 pounds. Man, thanks a lot for asking, appreciate it. I'm so proud of her.

That's so awesome, congratulations 🙌 You should definitely be proud of her :) Is she going to be certified as a K-9?

Man, I appreciate your interest. Thank you.

Here I go, again...

She's registered pedigree currently and will receive her basic K9 cert a week from tomorrow. Until she receives that, we can't proceed to advanced which is required for air travel, food establishments, things to that extent.

Advanced can be varied, owners choice. Agility, for example, search dogs, sniffing dogs, et cetera will qualify for advanced. We're going bark/bite officially since she excels naturally at agility.

No attack, though. Not any time soon at least and never 'official.' Once the dog's certified attack, all bets are off. No more travel or anything and they're essentially a weapon. Weapons belong under lock and key. Not interested.

So she'll be able to go pretty much anywhere you can??? That sounds perfect :)

Yeah, no need to be teaching her the attack methods. It could possibly get her hurt if anything actually happened, because she'd be more likely to go for clothing, arms, etc. Her natural instincts are better. If you're genuinely worried about that, you could spar with her in private as a game. Teach her (gently and in a fun way, of course) to avoid kicks, hits, and other things people might try. Much like the "catch me" game kids and dogs play together, but a little more intense.

You've done this before.

That's exactly it, we've been sparring like that since her baby teeth. Pura always said I'm too rough on her. We only accidentally yanked out two baby teeth in the first 3-4 months so I think she overreacted. = }

We still train like that. She's stellar at protecting her neck, back, and her front feet.
