RE: Fermentation and Philosophy: Subjective Ontological Expansion – A Philosophical Essay on a New Concept

Thanks for the late-night ramblings!! More wine indeed!

And that is something a lot of people have written about and my own thoughts as well! The more you know the fuller that metaphorical canvas gets.

There is a cool experiment that was done with children. Two groups. The one was given predefined borders and they were told you cannot play beyond those borders. The other group was given no predefined borders with no warnings. The first group (with the predefined borders) actually used most of the space and traveled up to the borders to play. The second group (without the borders) did not wander too far out and actually played closer and never traveled close to as far as the first group.

I have no idea if that comment makes sense in relation to what you said. But there it is! Pre-coffee ideas (that is, only one or two cups of coffee deep). I need more coffee!

Sort:

It was making sense, once I had a sip of coffee haha. Fascinating experiment, the lack of boundaries was the true boundary. I guess that's why we all need guidance, otherwise we either wander aimlessly, or sit where we are.
Oh man,I remember the first time I saw people sitting under a tree in SA. I know it's absurd, but it shocked me. I guess people don't sit on the side of the road in France anymore. I wonder what's the symbolism behind it, it could be interpreted one way or another.

Since leaving and with recent lockdowns, those sitting under the trees have multiplied and some have started building homes where they sat. Seeing them makes one appreciate what you have and that life's cards fell correctly for us who are not sitting with them. (Let us not start the politics of government and how they should have helped and not be corrupt but it's weekend let's be positive.)

the lack of boundaries was the true boundary

I like the way you phrase it! And yes, exactly. How weird are we humans? I think it was Sartre and those guys who wrote about us living inauthentically shying away from our radical freedom.

They would probably be sitting under a tree like Rousseau hahah

And chant that men are born free but shackled by humanity or some Rousseauian slogans.
