"I had been my whole life a bell, and never knew it until at that moment I was lifted and struck."

~ Annie Dillard

I went browsing through a charity shop the other day looking for refurbishable stuff for my candles and came across this pretty little hanging candle jar thingy. Got it for a steal and I was supporting an animal welfare at the same time, doubley cool.

While I was photographing some bells I found that quote up above and it struck a chord with me. I think I've been living small. So I'm changing that. I'm changing everything. There is no better opportunity to do so than a clean slate and a decision etched into it.

I took that step yesterday and today has been smooth sailing. I recognised over the last week how much I still enjoy photography. My style has changed through the years and I've forgotten almost everything that I learned when I did my course, but I also know it will continue to change as I grow into it again.

Subject matter will change, hues and tones will deepen or lighten accordingly. I'm going to clean my lenses more often, play with different settings, try different angles and see what happens. The adventures of a perspective shift. I've rediscovered a yearning for learning, having an enquiring mind and being a sponge for information on how to process my images more efficiently in Photoshop, streamline the process and nail it down to a fine art.

There's still so much to learn with my DSLR, it's a completely different kettle of fish to a phone camera. Each has it's advantages depending on the situation, but for images of my stock, I'm still leaning more in favour of my Canon. The image is a better representation of the actual item on the table.

When I did my course I was focused on wildlife photography but I'm going to revisit some of the "still life" modules of that course and see what I may have overlooked at the time that could be useful now.

Hi Andri, congratulations for acquiring such a beautiful jar to hang your candles and best of all it was inexpensive, also helping different animals with your purchase. Excellent! Keep up the enthusiasm with your photos, every day you learn something new and that makes us very happy. I hope you are very well and have a great weekend😚🙏💕.

Hello Tibi

How are you doing? Thanks for stopping by and your lovely comment.

The hanging jar is so pretty, I almost want to keep it but it needs to go into my shop. When you stop learning new things, you might as well give up right? There's always information that we can sink our teeth into.

I'm still hanging in there, still getting over this health infection.

Hope you have been well and keeping busy. Have a lovely Saturday 🌼
