As I wrote in an article, which is still unpublished here, life in Iceland can be a bit depressing. Long and hard winters, strong winds, snows, rains, nights that last for 20 or more hours leave their toll on the psyche. Among other things, this and the more than obvious orientation of Icelanders towards all forms of art is another reason why the houses in Reykjavík are painted in various colors. There are a lot of colorful facades, painted building facades and a lot of artistic graffiti. A walk in Reykjavik is a surprise and delight at every step.
