Hashing is not for the ultra-sensitive out there

in #running3 years ago

For me, being a part of the Hash House Harriers has been a life-changing experience but there is one thing I have noticed from this group and that is that they are intentionally irreverent, go out of their way to insult (in a joking manner) just about anyone or any group, and they will say some things that would be considered taboo in the west. No one is going to apologize for this either and that is a big part of the reason why we all love it so much.

For one thing, there is going to be a lot of usage of sexual terminology at these things and if this is the sort of thing that is going to insult you, it is probably best if you stay away. Just in our group there are people named Pussy Whisperer, Cumlord, Pussy Galore, Anal Boring, Abominable Blue Balls, Big Ugly Fucker, and Pigshit. The names are not supposed to be flattering, in fact, they are meant to be as insulting as possible.

There is also a very good chance that there are going to be some sort of phallic references or even hats like our "dickhead" hat that is awarded to people who do something stupid on a trail run.

None of this is intended to be insulting but for people out there that are hyper-sensitive and easily get triggered by words this will probably be a bad time for you. In the time that I have been here we have only had one incident where the antics of the participants have turned to a genuine argument and that was very uncomfortable for everyone involved and there were repercussions encouraging that person to not come back if they are going to react that way.

We are meant to be laughing and having fun and will not accommodate the various sensitivities of certain people. The thing that set that person off that day was a song that is called "Robby the Retard" and you change the first name in the words of the song to be about the person that is on the ice, because they did something "wrong" on the trail run.

Again, none of what we do is meant to offend anyone but we are also not at all a politically correct group of folks and anyone that tries to introduce that sort of crap into our group will quickly be shown the door. We have no intention of conforming to these recent, mostly western, notions of PC culture. I think this is probably the reason why this form of fun thrives in countries that don't have to worry about someone hitting us with a lawsuit because your feelings go hurt.

I think there is a very good chance that you wouldn't be invited if you are that kind of person who is hyper-sensitive anyway, but if you are like that - and let's face it, you know it if you are... you should probably do yourself and us a favor and not come to the events. The Hash House Harriers is steeped in rather insulting history and traditions and we will not change this for anyone.

We are currently shut down because of Covid regulations but if you would like to join us in the future full details can be found at our website

I thought you guys already reopened.

We did... for about a month. There is a game of red-light / green-light going on in this country right now as far as being allowed to do stuff is concerned.

I saw those landmark slips of HHH at my area, but never get to join them. Too much beer time LOL. But I do respect them, from young kids to old man. Anyway, I don't think they're active right now, probably for the past year and a half due to the "situation". And the fine is too damn heavy.

yeah, we know most of the H3's in Malaysia and they are all shut down for now. I don't think any Hash Kennel has any money so a big fine would really set them back. If and when things get back to us being allowed to go outside again I suggest you give them a look. You can probably bring KFC with you. I used to bring McDonalds with me.

Will give them a shot if the lockdown ever get uplift. Thanks buddy😁

You did know that the Hash House Harriers originated in Malaysia right? It is the "mother" Hash of every one of the 5000+ chapters that exist worldwide!

I didn't know it was originated from here. But I know they're super active and dominating every big or small hills 😁 I attended few of their events previously from different chapters.
