Yesterday, I was out on a 5 mile run looping back towards my house but not quite ready to be done. An ambulance and police car turn the corner of the street where my house is and I immediately freaked. My husband was home about to get on the treadmill when I left for my run. My brain immediately jumped to him having a heart attack and that the ambulance was headed to MY house! So, instead of continuing to run, I stopped at the corner and watched until the ambulance and police car went past my house. phew No heart attack today.
Figuring everything was fine, I kept on running. About 30 seconds later, my phone starts ringing. I look down at my watch and it's my husband. My heart rate immediately picks back up again.
I immediately think: Oh no, I was wrong!
I pick up - Hello?....Hello?
Husband - ohhhh, good
Me - oh, good, what?! Are you ok?
Husband - You didn't get hit by a car?!
Me - No! You didn't have heart attack?!
Husband - No!
We both start laughing.
In that moment, I came to conclusion - yep, we still love each other. Not that I really questioned it before but that little incident definitely confirmed it. I didn't need roses or diamonds. Just knowing my husband was legitimately concerned about me and me about him at the exact same time spoke volumes to me.
I hope whoever the ambulance was coming for turned out to be fine or now recovering and doing well.
