Is ipfs.pics defunct? The website now redirects to the git repository. If so, what's the recommended best way to host images now?

I always use imgur I know a lot of people use http://www.steemimg.com/
Thanks!
I use https://postimg.org/ - it seems that the introduction of ads on their site has given them a way of funding their servers
Thanks!
ironically this site is down
Oh great, more broken links we cannot fix because the developers disabled edit and delete on older posts. At least they removed the ability to get replies too, so at least we will never know how many people got a bad impression from our now permanently broken articles.
ipfs.pics is important ... we should figure out how to get it back up.
But in the meantime, you can still access the pictures at https://ipfs.io/ipfs/[hash] just like you used to be able to at https://ipfs.pics/ipfs/[hash]. You can still upload them using an ipfs tool even if ipfs.pics is not functioning for now.
It's good practice to use an image service such as ipfs that includes the hash in the url; this way it is harder for some other party to change the image on you later, and users can detect if it has been done.
