So, after some months, now I think it's time to say something about the downvote-mania after the HF21.
Everyone of us knows about it and everyone of us noticed that there are a lot of new account here born just to downvote content randomly, al of them born just for fun, because they have zero power and they can't effect the earning on a post, but...
Yesterday, on this content, I received a very strong downvote and it make me really sad and angry too. Sad because all my content are original content about my own life and my own art. I thought it was because I received a lot of little upvotes (part of them come from homesteadercoop, the other part I really don't know) and I see around people seems to hate this things (like a lot of other things, just to know).
I'm also very angry because I noticed that user use to upvote his own content and every own comment giving to himself the a lot of money! So, his downvote effect my content (my own original content) for about 3 $, but he gave himself more than 7 $ on his own content made by just a link! This is justice? I think no, sorry!
Just to know: I DON'T upvote my own content, I DON'T upvote my own poor comment (and not because I think it's wrong, but just because I prefer to give something more to the content I like!).
Sure, it's just a little bad thing and I watched a lot of similar bad things since I'm here (I remember all the flag wars here), but I have a simple tip to all those downvoters who seems to play randomly just to show their power to the honest steemians :

That downvote came from Mr BS. Why he does these things is not always clear, but I think he like to use his power and does not care who he upsets. It is sad to see this happen to someone like you who is always a positive force on Steem. I think the attitude to take is to remember that there are far more good people here and what they think is more important. I love Steem, but the freedom it offers means that people can be nasty and remain fairly anonymous. That is a price we pay for the freedom. It is important that we do not let such people win by driving us away.
You know that I downvote posts, but that is only where I think their rewards are not earned. There is still a lot of that going on, but the community is dealing with it better than before. Some people get upset that they cannot exploit Steem, but they have to learn that is not the point.

I also love Steemit and this kind of bad behaviour doesn't affect my love for this community, because I know the most part of steemians is made by kind and honest people who use their freedom here in a kind and honest way. I decided to write this post because I thought about the new users who could think that, even if they wrote an original content in a correct/honest/right way, everyone can downvote it in a strong way without no reason, simply for fun. The downvote is a way to contrast bad behaviour here (plagiarists, scammers, haters and other things, the list is long and I also use the downvote to contrast them), but it can't be a way to spent time just for fun, because the risk is to lose good users and to have a lot of fake accounts.
I'm here since a lot of time and so I feel myself strong in front of this kind of abusers, but I want to say to the newbies that it could happens, but there are a lot of steemians here that don't accept this kind of abuse ^_^

I've had some big downvotes recently from another nasty person, but the support I have had from the community counteracts that. We have to reassure people that the bad guys a small minority, but some do have a lot of SP. Unfortunately they do not seem keen to power down for now. If we can get more people active and investing in Steem then their influence will be reduced.

That's a poor excuse to attack someone who does Steem some good. These petty squabbles are bad for everyone. Typical bully behaviour.
I know I never downvote. But there are those who do and I have received a few from folks. Really don't understand why we have them. This should be a positive environment and it is easy to get along. Sadly there are a few bullies out there and I suppose it is a power thing. Blessings Silvia and don't get angry. You hurt yourself only when you do. Perhaps they want you to be angry. Lets all love one another.
Downvotes have value when dealing with those who just exploit Steem, but then we have these bullies who enjoy attacking people for no good reason. Sometimes it happens when someone they disagree with votes on a post and the poor author gets caught in the middle.

I was surprised and shocked when I saw that huge downvote on your post. Unfortunately, I have no idea what to do about it.
Thanks so much, dear @onceuponatime . When I saw that no-sense downvote I was really confused, sad and also angry. When I watched the account of that user and I saw he (or she) use to give 7- 8 usd of earning to his/her poor comments I thought "Ok, it's just a frustrated user who don't have enugh joy in his life and so he need to show his power in tis way". Here in Italy we have a way to speech for similar behaviour: "a contest to see who has the longest penis" and so my tip to make love instead of war ^_^ It's not a big problem for me, but I really hate these kind of abusers, because this is excatly an abuse of the way to use the downvotes after the HF21.
The best thing you can do is the support those affected and others who are doing good stuff. We cannot do much to stop big accounts being nasty, but building up the good guys reduces the impact.
