Value Plan Q3-Q4 'Bridge' Proposal

The season of conferences is upon us. To ensure all booking is done promptly and efficiently we are requesting a partial 'bridge fund' between Q3 and Q4 funding for Value Plan activities. The amount requested here is to be considered as a portion of Q4, not as in addition to Q4.

• The projection for Q4 (Q4 refers to the 4th quarter of the year or the months of October, November and December) is a total of 250k HBD which will be used to cover end of year promotional activities and events.
• A complete overview of progress in Q3 is to be included in the Q4 proposal, largely because key conferences are scheduled very shortly.
• The budget for the coming year and the end of year reports are projected to come out in December.
• KPIs will be finalized and calculated for 2023 and included in the end of year reports.
• Since the markets are moving and we are heading into a new year, please look forward and contribute to strategy discussions in the near future.

The social sentiment around Hive is positive among those who are deeply familiar with it but is stagnant among the general public who are not aware of what Hive has to offer. Concepts such as decentralization, a fee-less blockchain, an ethical cryptocurrency network, or 'Web3' are mysterious. The promotional initiatives undertaken through Value Plan aim to change that.

To help achieve this and as part of our 'bridge fund' we are requesting 100,000 HBD.

Administrative Points

A few points of clarification are warranted in respect to the administration of Value Plan.

Actively Participate

Every conference Hive attends provides an opportunity for Hive-based dapps, games and solutions to be represented. While we try to work our entire roster of dapps into the main design as part of exploring our ecosystem, if you'd like a larger portion of the space or a cost effective option for a bit more promo, this is a great way to do it.

• Contribute your merchandise to be given away
• Provide posters or banners
• Build a space in 'Hive village' style floor plans
• Send staff members to help with the event
• Create an engaging presentation and speak

For stand-alone events, please remember that for Value Plan to cover the cost of activity or presentation costs, at least 50% of the presentation should be about Hive core. The other 50% may be about your dapp, game or solution. Your work will inspire others to develop and build on Hive but showing them tangible proof of what is possible.

Scope Definition

Value Plan aims to ensure that Hive is known for more than "make money at home by blogging", which is an approach that predates Hive by many years. Value Plan does not focus on onboarding individuals for the purposes of joining Hive and creating content on it in order to generate an income. We do recognize that those individuals are making the investment of their Personal Time and their contribution to the general Hive ecosystem is valuable, but they are out of scope.

However, Value Plan has the explicit requirement of focusing on multiple types of investment at the time of onboarding. We can define multiple types of investment as the investment of Personal Time + Finances, the investment of Personal Time + Development Time, the investment of Development Time + Finances, the investment of Personal Time + Utility, or so forth. Any investor, developer, dapp owner or business owner by default will satisfy the parameter of investing personal time.

Examples of multi-investment:

• Business that accepts HIVE and HBD also posts a blog
• Developers who want to join Hive and build on it
• Individuals who actively promote Hive in events or on social media while also blogging

Accounts (non-specific) that are given away during a promotional event such as a conference are treated the same as any merchandise or promotional product distributed as part of the event. The conference or event is not focused or geared towards the pure distribution of these accounts. All events promote Hive accounts as a gateway to data ownership, investment, personal financial control, Web3 discovery or similar.

Value Plan at no point in time may pay for the creation of any account from its own account. It may not act as a trustee for any account.

Internal Sponsorships

Hive dapps are not eligible to sponsor (pay for) any Value Plan activities except as an addon (as with the 'Hive village' conference opportunities). This is because Hive dapps are by default included in Value Plan activities and are an inherent part of Value Plan. Sponsoring a Value Plan event is the same as paying yourself to sponsor yourself, which makes no sense. While confusion on this matter is incredibly rare, it does occur and for this reason it is noted as such above.

However, should Hive dapps require additional considerations such as specialized branded merchandise or booths at conferences, that they should set up independently. Everyone should be encouraged to contribute to Hive promotional events and activities in their own unique way to show the diversity of Hive.

Planning

Value Plan is not a proposal 'bypass'. While we want planned out ideas, Value Plan does not 'sponsor' people's initiative. Any initiative that is recommended to Value Plan becomes a Hive initiative. Private projects or anything that generates an income for its founders (beyond posting rewards) are not a fit. All projects and activities are under tight quality controls and proper project management is expected at all levels.

Please prepare them well before your activity, regardless if your activity is a fit for Value Plan or not, or delays are to be expected as we collaboratively correct them.
