Well, it wasn't like here in Canada, but we had we needed and when we had garden, we had plenty.
oh that's so good Miss Lena, I would hate it if you kids had to go without food or had to steal food or something! I bet you didn't have a lot of sweets when you grew up so you probably didn't acquire a taste for it.
We had lots of sweets too! But no, we were not hungry, lol.
