The Fair is in Town

I think we all like a fair, don’t we? I know I do. All those fabulous rides, the screams and laughter, the food, the drinks, and the happy smiles on the faces of children and adults alike.

Well, it just so happened I had a nice surprise when I paid a visit to town and discovered the fair had arrived.

It turns up this time every year (though I’d forgotten that) as part of a tour of local towns, in most of which it sets up on the high street or in the market square.

Here we are in Banbury in Oxfordshire and the fair has occupied both the market square and much of the high street.

This is during the morning and I love seeing a fair when it’s quiet and sleepy like this. It’s a bit like seeing your wife or girlfriend without her make-up on!

Most of the rides and stalls were sleeping but, here and there, some of them were undergoing a bit of maintenance.

Even the lorries were sleeping quietly down some of the side streets.

I also very much liked the ‘lost child’ sign. A good idea for when the place is packed and keeping track of your little ones can be more difficult.

Have you been to the fair recently? Got a favourite ride or one you’re always too afraid to go on?

Sort:

I do like fairs, but not so much the crowds when they get busy

I often visit them at a time like you seemed to have without people around

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk

Have a good day

I like the contrast, the mayhem of a busy night-time fair compared to the eerie emptiness seen here.

yeah probably makes for some cool shots I am sure
