I REALLY, REALLY HATE EDITING... BUT, YOU KNOW....

in #writing4 years ago

Options are limited.

Honestly, there may be a couple of books that I still release this year. I've already put out my first one ever in print form, and I'm working on a digital version of that too. However, I've got three other ones in the works, even in proof form, and I'm trying to do what I need to do in order to get them out as soon as is reasonably possible. Thankfully, @freedomtowrite and another friend editing Love, Like His for me, so now I've just got to take into consideration all of their potential corrections and then update the digital version. However, now I've got another one in hand too! (The third one should show up later this week.)

Honestly, I understand that it just comes with the territory. With writing comes editing, and both of those steps need to happen prior to release. With everything else going on, I'm not sure how long it'll actually be, but trust me, I'm hard at work on this side of the computer. I really can't wait to get some of the hard copies into peoples' hands! Be patient with me my friends.

I have attended a few writing workshops at our local library, lead by local (successful!) writers. They have emphasized the importance of hiring a great editor. Your editors sound less expensive, and I hope they are good at it!!

Yeah, My editors are much less expensive than hiring a great editor.

Editing is the hardest part. My journalism and prof writing - editing lecturer used to call it killing your babies. And he wasn't wrong.

Hang in there. Think of it as refining and making energetic space so your ideas and thoughts can gain strength and clarity.

It may sound out of since, but can't the author edit his/ her works? Must it be externally edited??

I have done this successfully before. Does it means I have broken an iron cast literary law??
