RE: I hope my grandchildren are disappointed in me.

in #anarchylast year

Say some guy in Louisiana finds his great, great grandfather's diary. It details how he wanted to end slavery, but his plantation couldn't financially compete with that of slave owners; so he spoke out publicly against slavery and he only had his slaves work until the age of 50; and he didn't enslave their children. Does any of that matter? That he was a better slave owner than his neighbours? He would've thought it did, but do his ancestors?

Demanding perfection is the enemy of progress. It's important to judge a person's behavior based on the time era in which they lived.
The USA's founding fathers had many issues that are clear to us today. But considering the era of their lives, they were blinding beacons of light and justice. I would argue that their actions in setting up the most free country the world has ever known, play a huge factor in us even being able to see that they had any errors in the first place.
We should honor and respect the builders who have helped to move the world in a better direction. That doesn't mean we ignore their faults, we should point them out and strive to do even better.

Good words brother or sister.

As a fighter for freedom, the system i speak of in my reply to Matt may well interest you. Ask for links if so.
