The price is crucial for retention. I can see several people I onboarded years ago coming back at about $1-2. At this price, a reasonably good Czech article would likely generate $25-50 in author rewards, so the people won't feel like wasting their time.

I dont agree 100% with my own vote. But I believe many wont comeback either way. But with price ticking up I hope to see us attract new groups of users! Hive is very special and more people should learn about us👏

Regardless of attempts to censor of one platform and wasting DHF money, however, Hive is generally heading the right direction. And this can be reflected by some OG's that stopped using it when the price dropped.
Yeah agree. We tend to put much focus on the bad stuff on Hive, but there is not another project out there that have what we have here.

This is why I think short form content is so important for HIVE. It's less reliant on price of HIVE as the users there are less likely to care if their snap earns zero cents than bloggers.

Probably not, though I would probably still snap even if HIVE was 5 cents. I'm just saying that regular snappers are probably more sticky retention-wise than regular bloggers who focus too much on HIVE's price.
These 5 cents at $0.25 would become 20 cents at the parity with dollar. Not bad for a sentence or two, huh?
Imagine we get to the dollar, stick there for a few months, and then drop back to $0.25. You'd be used getting at least ten cents per snap, and suddenly, you only get two.
You may feel like wasting your time, and lose interest. Or perhaps not you, but many people would.
It works the same for short and long form, only at scale. People who left used to publish at way higher price, earning way more than you can get now.
Yeah, everyone's different. The problem with relying on HIVE's price as retention or getting people "back" is they inevitably will leave again. I'm not really sure what the solution to that is.

People would hardly leave in a mass scale if there we kept around $1.4-1.6. Obviously, some would quit, some new would come to replace them though. At this price, everybody would get about 5 times as much as now.
A common snap would easily get that five cents. An good English post say $40, and an outstanding one $100+. Not bad, many copywritters are paid less.
you do realize however that there's literally billions of people, the 99.999% that do "waste their time" on social media while never getting any monetary rewards of any kind ever, right?
I am. People create their accounts there to have fun in the first place, though. People here want to earn in the first place. That makes a huge difference.

I onboarded at least 50 people, maybe 100 if you count everyone, even those who commented, but not published a single post.
Most of the ones who left did so mainly for not feeling their time was paid well. That's perhaps because I promoted it as a social network that, unlike conventional media, rewards content.
As a whole, we've never been succesfull promoting Hive as a social network without the financial aspect; and the financial incentive is likely what drives retention the most.
I'm not saying we shouldn't mention the rewards, just how they can be obtained I guess. What we want is for people to earn some stake so they can continue distributing it to others, not just see it as a way to make fiat and expect it to continue the same way forever no matter wat
There's a lot of stuff here that needs to be better balanced, some earn too much while others earn too little, some earn for things of no value others barely make anything for things that get a lot of attention, with more people there'd be more options to choose what to reward

Fun fact: I've never had a credit card nor even a penny of debt in my life, I have massive savings compared to the average person, and been stable in a well paid job for 7 years. But my credit score just dropped 55 points to 260. Lol.
Your credit score is not your credit worthiness overall, it's more how much debt you have assumed and not defaulted on.
Either way it's my understanding that the low number will restrict me when it comes to loans and credit cards significantly, surely
If you do need a loan, you will need to find a bank willing to verify your creditworthiness the old-fashioned way using the metrics you mentioned up front.

I believe it's because you don't have a credit card. At least here in Brazil, it works a little like this. The more credit you use, the more you "earn credit", a kind of social capital, indicating that you are capable of issuing debt and paying it on time.
Yes, I know, it doesn't make any sense. But I think it's a way they found to 'track' what you use, and how much you consume, and consequently increasing your potential Score.
I vaguely get its process because the one time I attempted to get a credit card, shortly after graduation, they said i couldn't get one because I had no credit score. I asked how to I get a credit score, they said by getting a credit card.
So I left...

Similar thing happened to me, however I always maxed out my credit in the past, but a few months back I decided to pay off all my debt and close down a few of my credit cards too boot, and boom,they hit me hard for going off credit.
650 is still pretty good though. I've never seen mine above 320-ish. I've never experienced a life of 'maxing out' credit, I just have to buy things with money I actually have -__-

I love this aspect of the 2nd-layer to Hive, it rewards engagement regardless of the value of said token you receive/distribute.
I would like to get my hands on more tip commands to distribute so recommendations would be great!

Have you seen BBH...Bitcoin Backed Hive from the witness Bradley Arrow?

You need at least a thousand at Tribaldex...from which you can gift one a day to whomever.
This one is the one for Bleujay...it is fairly cheap to pick up at Tribaldex...and seems promising for the future.

None. I don't use any, they just spam discussions. Ecency blocks them, for instance.
I see your point, but I also find them somewhat endearing! especially when it's more of a friendly communication then a specific topic of discussion. For example when I first got into Hive, it did help me engage more with others and throw out a little tip token with my comment-
I'd be likely repulsed by them. Fortunately, they weren't around when I joined the legacy chain years ago :)
Being a new user I was quite lost here in all things Hive and didn't know the ins and outs. finding the PIZZA token and the community that surrounds it really helped solidify my time here I feel, definitely wouldn't have engaged much without that community to guide me!
I don't use them a lot actually. I find excessive use of tip tokens in the comments rather annoying.
The ones I do sometimes use are !LUV !BEER and !PIZZA
By using these three you'll probably get the point I made 😀

Can't disagree with that, definitely can get spammy when over-used. I tent to only use mine when I'm fairly friendly with somebody already, adds that little extra kindness I feel 😅

I don´t like them too much, fortunately one can mute the bots.
It creates traffic, but it is not the traffic I would wish.
I can completely understand why. 😅 I do enjoy the community driven tip tokens such as PIZZA that have or, had an incredibly strong community at the time. They helped me feel at ease when I first joined Hive and feel apart of a community! The spam ones I can completely agree with
Ecency mutes them by default, unless you turn this muting off. As I prefer longer conversations, I usually reply comments on Ecency.
I don't think I have a favourite one. 🙃
