Over my time on the Hive blockchain I've seen many people come and go; I don't mind when they leave, it's personal choice, although I miss some of them. I'm more focused on those who stay though, and those that bring good content.
Several days ago someone commented to me about their drab and boring content; it made me sad to think someone thought that about their own content - it made me sad.
Sure, the person is not jumping out of aeroplanes, climbing to the rim of mount Krakatoa whilst its erupting... or doing anything overly remarkable...but they're living life in their own fashion and are a valid and legitimate human being; I'd say that's quite enough, and all one can ask of themselves*
It made me think about the perception of good or bad content, interesting or boring, valuable or useless, or any other way one wants to say it.
ℐ 𝓌𝓇𝒾𝓉ℯ 𝒾𝓉 𝒻ℴ𝓇 𝓂ℯ
I don't believe my content to be of any great value to anyone and it's not supposed to be - I'm not being modest, it's a fact.
I don't write with the hope I'll win a Pulitzer prize for literature or to present myself as better than anyone else, gain favour, be popular or accepted. I write for me: For the enjoyment, challenge, to gain arms-length from thoughts and feelings (to reiterate them also), remind myself of something, say things I'd not say to another soul (in person), put parts of me I don't show others into those gaps between words and lines and for many other reasons as well.
This doesn't mean I don't care if I present well though, I do care, it means I'm not here to put on a show, not performing, I'm just me, a rather average man who writes some things. Is my content drab and boring to you? Maybe it is, but to me *it's my life, thoughts, emotions etcetera.
I don't feel a need for accolades and praise; yes, I like being told I've done a good job but that's not why I've done the job in the first place - there's other reasons, and here on hive it's fun and enjoyment and those other things I mentioned above.
I like the feeling of knowing I've performed well though, or have improved some aspect of myself, and yes I like the feeling of success or reward but I find those things internally more than externally...Here on Hive, that means the feeling of successfully putting my thoughts into words, or sharing some images...the feeling of success, reward, happiness and enjoyment is in the process as much as the final result when I finally press the publish button.
I know we're all different though, and do things differently which is how its supposed to be.

- Be yourself, it shows when you are faking it.
- Create content about what you're interested in.
- Show your personality. (But don't divulge every little detail about yourself).
- Apply passion and effort in all areas of content creation (and engagement).
- Use your own photos where possible.
Being interested in what I post means my content is more fun to write and my experience here more enjoyable. Writing about things one is not interested in will make that writing look hollow. Showing my personality means people will be able to relate and connect better.
I see (and downvote) many people spinning other people's articles which is a bad idea. It's plagiarism for a start, but presenting yourself as an expert or competent in a subject, but not actually being that expert or having the competency, will end badly when its exposed - and it usually will be.
On the own photos thing; I vote posts with stock images at very small percentages (if at all) and especially so if there's more than one stock image included. I like people showing their own personalities and making the effort to do so. I actually don't even care if the own-photo doesn't correlate to the text, just having an own-photo in there is preferable. I see so many posts in my Weekend Experiences community that I simply don't vote well (or at all) for this reason, the stock images. I just think people can do it better, you know?
ℐ 𝒹ℴ𝓃'𝓉 𝓀𝓃ℴ𝓌 ℯ𝓋ℯ𝓇𝓎𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓃ℊ
I'm not trying to represent that I know everything there is to know on this topic; I simply don't.
What you read here is just some of the things I've done and continue to do. There's other ways to go of course, and people are free to do what they like, freedom of expression and all, however for me these things have meant I can look back on what I've posted here and be satisfied I've been true to myself and had some fun along the way.
I haven't addressed the person who made the drab content comment yet, but I will because that user doesn't write drab content at all; the user writes with honesty, passion, and with a lot of personality and effort as well...the person is just a little shadowed at the moment, waiting for some light to chase it away.
If you've read the text above and have an opinion on the topic please feel free to leave a comment.
How do you approach content creation here? Do you spin other people's articles and present them as your own? Do you present yourself as yourself and apply some personality and passion? Do you write about what you're interested in or whatever you think people might give you a vote for? Do you care if you're perceived well or poorly? If you've got some thoughts and comments, feel free to leave them below if you'd like to, there's no pressure to get involved.
Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default; tomorrow isn't promised so be humble and kind - galenkp

I say they should keep creating. Like you, I like reading about normal stuff. People doing what they do. That is me these days, drab and boring. Just a normal life. Hell though, I lived more by the time I was 20 than most people do their whole life. But still I get a lot of pleasure just sharing who and what I feel and do now. This is my therapy and more for me than anything else. If people get pleasure in reading it and enjoy engaging with me then all the better. Honestly, I am finding more pleasure lately out of reading and engaging on others posts than writing and creating myself.
Hope all is well and you are able to keep this person motivated to keep blogging. If you like, hit me up with their handle and I will be glad to start giving them some love.
You get it, the point I was trying to make. People are just people...if they present themselves that way they're more relatable.
You make a good point about the reading and commenting on others...it can be very enjoyable and there a benefit to it too; people comment back (mostly). That's where relationships start.
I get a lot of enjoyment from writing stuff but it starts much earlier than that when I'm thinking up topics, structure and points I'd like to make. Of course, there's also the photos I use, my own which I enjoy creating or digging out of my files. It's all enjoyable.
Anyway, I think it's nice for people to share some personality, a little of who they are as a person and in the real world. I often find that posts that don't do that empty and I avoid them.
Let me check with the user I mention before I tell you who, just to make sure it's ok.
I agree, putting together the ideas for the post, or taking the photos for it are the most enjoyable part. It creates the experience. And if you are telling a story from an experience, it allows you to relive a memory. It allows one to take the time to do it as well. Not just something that is fleeting and is gone until remembered again.
Sure, let me know and I will give them a follow.
You've said it well, nice one!
And yes, I'll let you know.

Many times we feel we are not enough. It happens. The feeling is always present when people don't see what we do and the effort put toward achieving the aim.
There are times I wake up when others are probably sleeping in my world to write and I am always proud of what I have written because I know none of my writing goes without great effort. But, the efforts put into it sometimes can't be seen and it hurts when such things occur.
I do believe we are different and came here for different reasons. Some want their content read and responded to as they respond to others too.
Others care for something different. It is just like that.
I love reading as it makes me learn more so I am a vast reader though I write on things I am well equipped on.
That's a good thing to be proud of.
You do reasonably well here I think, meaning you get some good content posted and comment well. It's the best way forward. Unfortunately there's people who want to take short cuts and that may gain a vote or two but there's no longevity in it and when the curation accounts stop voting the person is...hmm, how can I say this eloquently...I know, the person is fucked! 😆
Thanks for your kind words. It is well-known that shortcuts lead to something worse. It is better to take things one step at a tab.
Hehe, you've said it eloquently enough😂😂.
Hi galenkp! How nice to read about this. I think I understand the person you were talking about, because at times I have felt that way, in my case they have been passing moments.
When I go to write about a topic it is usually about something that happened to me, that is on my mind and I need to write it down, even to be able to understand it.
I don't like to take content from other people, I like to explain topics as I think I am best at it, which is through examples. A friend told me that I always use examples and yes, I certainly use them a lot. That's why I think that when I write it is a part of me, that Samantha (me) is in that writing, and when I finish it I think "this looks like me".
It's something that happens to all of us at times, myself included; it's human. This post simply says to that person (who has read it), it's ok, you're normal and just keep moving forward.
No one is as good at being Samantha as you are...meaning you're the only you and you know how to do it best, even when you might not do it right. No one does it right all the time. I see your posts around the place and you've been involved in the #weekend-engagement a few times which gives me the impression you write with personality (your own) and some passion for life...that's how it should be.
Thanks for commenting.
Thank you for your words, I value them very much 😊.
It's past midnight in my country and I've been saying I'm going to sleep for a while now, I'm glad I waited a few more minutes to get to this post, you really are inspiring, at least you inspire me, I'm not saying it to praise you, it's pure sincerity just the way you like it.
I won't say that I always read you, but when I do, I get caught up from beginning to end and I think it's exactly because of what you say, that you write because you like it and about what you like, that is perceived and also the sincerity as you said it well.
As for my content, I'm still discovering myself, I won't deny it, and I'm becoming more and more confident because as you say, although the rewards and the votes are good, the best thing is when we feel satisfied with what we are able to express, with the way we do it and with the purpose beyond the votes.
Thank you for your kind comments; knowing I inspire someone through something I wrote is a compliment to me and I'll graciously accept it.
I certainly write from the heart and I know it doesn't always resonate with others and I think that's ok; that's sort of the point of this post. It's ok to be me and if you don't like something I wrote that's ok, because it's ok to be you. I appreciate that you reads my posts sometimes, I know it's often difficult to see and read everything, but here you are commenting to me and that's cool, so thank you.
Keep doing this, you are doing a good job with it. Don't be afraid to try new things. I remember telling a woman from Venezuela to try posting in English only...She was sceptical but did it and now...her account is pretty solid and she's pushing forward well. She tried something new. If it didn't work for her that's ok, revert. But it did work.
I'm not saying that's what you should do...just that it's ok to try new things, redesign or recreate how you present here, ad some more personality, engage with people outside your comfort zone...Colouring outside the lines is acceptable.
Thank you for your kind words, it is very satisfying for me that you think I am doing well, that is an encouragement.
And I really appreciate your advice, it's great that you take the time to do it. I like the idea of getting out of the comfort zone, I'm trying and will keep trying.
I hope you are very well 🤗
I'm well, thanks for asking, and I hope you are also.
It's mid-morning Friday for me so I'm excited because the weekend is here. I hope your week finishes well and you have a good weekend.
Thank you and happy weekend to you!
It's Thursday night around here. I still have time to plan to do something on Saturday. The Sunday is a work day for me.
Oh no, you work on Sundays? Hmm, well I hope you have something cool planned for Saturday. Have a nice night, sleep well and push on through Friday.
Thank you. Happy Friday to you.
Yes well for now I have to work on Sundays and I'll see if something comes out on Saturday, hopefully it won't be like the title of this post 🤭
See you later.
It is possible that the person feels that their content is monotonous because perhaps emotionally they are not well. And the reality is different.
When I started in this world I only made art, from what I learned and as far as the computer I have allows me. In Argentina I had a computer prepared for design... here I hadn't thought of being where I am, only life took me.
Anyway, the point is that I do what I like, that's how I started. Then I saw that HIVE was more, much more and that I could do other things that I love, such as photography, which I need to improve, and writing, I love writing, about my opinion on different subjects. I enjoy it a lot.
I put music in the background and the words just come out,
I do what I like and I look at my content and I say woww I like it! Everyone may not like it haha.
I am passionate about many topics, but what I do I do because I feel it, I live it and I enjoy it.
An author I love, Facundo Cabral used to say: He who does what he loves is blessedly condemned to success.
If there is no love in what you do, the content has no soul, it is empty.
You can tell that you enjoy what you do and write, it has soul, it's not forced and that's great!
Thanks Galen.
Yep, exactly. They are in a down mood and that's why I wrote this post, sort of little hug and message to say, you're ok, just be you - it is enough - and it's ok to have down moments. The person has got the message loud and clear because they messaged me directly saying so.
This is true for Hive and many other aspects of life, including with relationships. Nicely said, I like how you worded that.
I'm a passionate man and that comes out in many ways. I'm many other things besides, but the foundation of me is built on passion. I can't' be any other way and I'm ok with that.
None of us are exempt from bad moments, for different reasons, the important thing is to overcome them and get out of that situation that lowers our spirits.
I know what it's like to be passionate about what you do, for me emotion is the driving force behind everything.
I think each of us have at times felt stuck where we don't know what to write even though the urge is there to do it. Perhaps that's what this person is experiencing and just having a tough time feeling creative. I've had writer's block before and it can be a bitch. It makes you question if anything you wrote previously was any good.
My post for TTT yesterday I got creative in, nobody but me seemed to notice it though but that doesn't matter - because I see it and it brought me joy to plant an easter egg in my own post. I'm sure the person you're referring to appreciates that you think they are legit and that their content is good, perhaps they just need some time to come around and believe that of themselves?
We're all just people, flawed and broken at times, amazingly creative and shining lights at other times...it's best if we find some contentment in that, in the people we are. That doesn't mean we have to settle for our state of being and not try to improve it...just accept the facets that make us up and push towards the better parts where possible.
I don't know, I'm a knucklehead so don't have all, or even any, of the answers...but I wanted to write this so that the person (might) see it and feel happy.
Still trying to do this even when things are difficult. I'm just stubborn like that 🤣
I don't think any of us have all the answers, but it's sometimes nice to try and resolve things together, many hands make light work.
One person's drab is another person's bright and colourful.
I realized quite some time ago that I really do this more for myself than anything. I mean sure, when you are able to get those upvotes that is awesome, but even when I wasn't getting them, I was still doing this. Kind of like that Luke Combs song. I'd still be doing this if I wasn't doing this. I used to journal quite a bit when I was younger. I got out of that habit, but then Hive kind of drug me back into it. Sure, I don't get as personal as I did in those journals, but I still try to be myself. Goofy, nerdy, weird, dry sense of humor and all. I'm pretty proud of what I have created here over the past five or six years.
You've got the right idea, and it's the same as mine really. I'll be me. You be you. Other people be other people...it seems like a fairly straightforward forward thing. I think it's very clear when someone is "performing" for votes.
I wrote a lot of the blockchain, things that will never be posted here, and I get value from it even knowing no one will read it. Some of my best work is there. Ok with it, maybe my niece and nephew will read it when I'm gone.
Thanks for commenting, and for being real.
For sure! I can't really think of any other way to be. Oddly enough though, I have a feeling if you met me in real life you might think I was being fake in my interactions here. Really it's just that I am more comfortable behind a keyboard than in person. Which I can see how some might feel that is fake. I don't though.
I get that, understand it I mean.
I'm quite shy in real life, interesting considering my professional career now...where that wouldn't work. I hide behind my job though, when there, meaning I get paid to do what I do so I do it. In my personal life, I'm much more selective with who I spend time with and how I socialise. I keep a small and close-knit group around me rather than multitudes.
Same.
Hahaha. Interesting! I too posted about this topic two days ago in a post entitled: Hive Guide - Two ways of creating content for Hive!
Where I postulated: A: Design content for blogging or B: Blogging about your activities.
I was comparing the trend of web 2.0 content creators on Youtube and other places doing their bit to keep people engaged.
While on Hive you can just blog about what you are already doing or what you love.
I have created content because I wanted to post SOMETHING. But I have also been writing fiction, which is something I enjoyed anyway and did it without people being there to read it.
I also have been posting a lot about my hobbies. And earned plenty out of that - to further fuel my hobby!
It's exciting!
It's been a while since I passed by Galen. It was just so funny to see similar thoughts at a similar time.
Cheers!
If enough people have the same thoughts, such as in my post, I think the blockchain would be a better place.
Indeed!
I can't do a whole group this year, but I am focusing on pushing one redfish at a time, till they hit Minnow.
I am a Minnow that is pushing himself towards Dolphin.
That's helping already I believe.
Push towards enjoyment and fun, the rest will take care of itself then. 😊
Yeah. Will do.
I have gotten back into my wathammer hobby again and my son is building his own army.
So that is enjoyment and fun!
And I mean... I blog about THAT.
Yeah, I've seen how much you enjoy that and that's what I'm talking about...Add some passion, find enjoyment...it'll not seem like a chore then, just another enjoyable aspect of life.
I don't think that my content is boring. My art makes me and (I hope) others happy. I think there is value in that.
Still I don't understand how something like this gets so many views while I get 0. That does make me sad. On hive my posts rewards are not the biggest but here I actually get comments saying nice things about my art. That is why I like hive more than facebook, twitter or youtube. Here I am more visible.
Thanks good to hear, because if one thinks their own content is drab, it's unlikely that others will like it any better.
Just on the views...They're often bought on the social medias, as are follows and likes. Just another reason most social medias should be shunned as the pile of steaming shit they are.
Well, I don't know. I may not be winning any Nobel prizes anytime soon and even though, I always look forward to the positive comments from people, praising my writing or creativity, I also look forward to my own reactions. When I create an amazing story and I just smile happily to myself because I know it's beautiful. And even though some of my content maybe better than the others, I'd never see it as drab content.
I'm usually careful as to what I put out there but make no mistake, what I write here is usually all me. No matter how people view me as afterwards.
With that said, I think you're a good judge of character so if you say that user isn't writing drab content in the least, he or she had better be made to understand that so they stop undermining themselves.
I'm not sure if they were intentionally undermining themselves so much as reacting to other things in their life that leaves them feeling a little unhappy about themself. It's common for people to do this and most have probably done it at some stage or other.
I'm not sure that person will see this post, but what they said prompted some thoughts about content and how the author and others see it, hence this post.
You said your content is beautiful and that's your opinion which you're entitled to, others may feel the same about your content also. I think mine is average, like the rest of me, although I still get enjoyment, a sense of achievement, and some personal value from the process of creating it. That's where the reward begins, and if I'm to get a favourable comment here and there that's just a little extra on top.
Thanks for your comment and all the best with your writing.
You said that it made you sad. Still, you find positivity in it and you appreciating honesty, passion, and personality. It's impressive.
It's good to create content in which we are interested in it and it makes writing easy and comfortable but sometimes I feel writing something in which we are not interested in it also good for us. Reason: Try something new.
One must find positives where at first there seems none as it helps see a better way forward and even in the worst adversity there's something positive to take away. Here's a couple examples.
Let's say I was horribly injured in a car wreck and spent a year in hospital having to learn how to walk again. Negative right? Yep of course but...did I die? Nope...so there's the positive.
Got fired from your job? Bad right? Negative too. But...Awesome, now I get the opportunity to skill-up, learn some things and redeploy into a different situation with greater understanding and in a more invigorated and re-energised way.
Maybe a bad examples maybe, but I think you get my point? There's always something positive to find and if you're the dude who doesn't know how to find them...learn how.
I get your point. Every negative thing has positivity also and we just need to find out it.
Yep...the thing itself might be the worst thing ever...but finding a positive in it and moving forward squeezes value from it, even just a little, and that's better than gaining no value at all. Shift your paradigm, push it outwards, there's often something great to be round beyond established lines.
We are here for different reasons and our approach to writing is quite different. At some point, I always felt I wasn't communicating with other users on the platform because I was getting zero engagement on my content.
Am I doing it right or wrong ?, this question crosses my mind always and it steals motivation away from me.
On a particular day, I made a post asking other Hivers what they feel about my content and it was then I realised that I have been looking down on myself all along.
I always try to be my 100% self with my content and I realized that people on Hive also have different interests and not getting tons of engagement doesn't mean, I am not doing anything good, my content isn't just their interest.
It is impossible to give everyone on the platform what they want so it is pointless trying to do so. Being oneself as a writer will end up as a good decision because in the long run, the audience that have the same interest as you will definitely find you.
Today, I still don't have the desired engagement but I feel happy about Hivers who genuinely interact with me.
I took a look and see some engagement there, the quality of it I'm not sure about as I didn't delve into it.
It can be difficult to build relationships and so people tend to stay well within a little group they have around them a lot of the time, and that's limiting. It's a little easier for me as I have the #weekend-engagement concept bring posts to me directly that I can engage with, however that's three years old, there was three full years of my time here where it didn't exist...and in which I engaged a lot and built relationships.
It's all about consistency I guess, engage well with someone and over time they will (possibly) see you're here to stay and start engaging back. IT also comes down to your content of course. Actifit or dbuzz posts bore and repel me for instance, as do "finance" posts where people repeat what someone else said somewhere else. so no matter how good they are I don't engage with them.
You're involved with some concepts I noticed and that's ok, but operating within them alone, isn't going to get you out there very well. It's like throwing pebbles into a pond...they ripple outwards...So, throw some pebbles into the right ponds and things will happen.
Judging on numbers alone, your inbound engagement looks ok, *but is there value there or are people commenting with vapid remarks designed just to get comment numbers up? I also see some users have left you comments (on a post from three days ago) that you've not replied to...When people do that to my comments (fail to reply) I'll never go back. Ever.
Thanks for taking your time to check through. Dreemsteem once told me the importance of building relationships on Hive and I am working on that as well.
I definitely still have a lot of things to improve on and believe the improvement will keep coming as I relate to and learn from more people on the blockchain.
Those comments skipped my mind, I will always pay attention to that. Thanks again for the guidelines, I will definitely apply them.
No worries...I think it's well-established that relationships matter and that's why the right comments matter, the right words, not just any words; that can come later when the relationships is solid.
Getting attention and positive remarks has its perks. The rush does feel good though momentarily. It is so easy to be caught up in that maze of trying to please others and get through to the people who read. I discovered the dissatisfaction and sadness that such a mindset can bring.
When I write I portray myself and the things that interest me, most times my writings are addressed to me first and foremost in tackling the struggle I am going through at that moment and to remind myself of what is most important.
You said it all about the need to be your true self and those who can relate with you will find those things you put out there as interesting and relevant.💯
To me, writing is therapeutic and posting those things has built my confidence in loving and owning my personality in the long run. I've learned to be better at it as well and still learning. I try not to let the rewards I might get from doing these things get in the way and believe me it was a struggle, it still needs my conscious daily effort.
True happiness comes from within.
If people make the reward, the process of writing (or whatever it is they do) then there would be a lot more happy people out there. Relying on accolades from others, that may never come, is a fools errand. The same here on the Hive blockchain. Shift the reward away from the monetary and things open up and become much more enjoyable.
True! We get rewards (all other benefits) it's the monetary rewards we shouldn't let get in the way. You made more clear what I meant. Thank you G the guru.
What a happy world that will be...💕
Financial rewards matter, we all need money to survive (generally), although I see people here making it the focus rather than focusing on the writing, content creation, and they create shit content because of it. It's doing things the wrong way around in my opinion...but what do I know I guess, I'm just a knucklehead.
You make valid and great sense in all you've said. You are no knucklehead- far from it. I've learned a lot and have been reminded of a whole lot from your posts.
Lol...yeah, but I'm a knucklehead too, and proud of it.
🤣😅
I fully agree, I also write for myself. I would do very badly if I were to write about things that don't interest me at all. I stick to a sort of planner to keep track of the content I have in terms of pictures I made or stories to share, but it's flexible, and often things move forward or back when I don't feel like writing about that topic today. It's mostly to make sure things don't get lost in a big pile of pictures, lol.
I don't mind people using stock pictures if the content is something personal written by themselves. I admit that I often refrain from voting for single-image posts where the image is generated by AI as this means they added zero to nothing to the content themselves.
The comment about using an image non-related to the text made me think. I don't think I ever do this when I don't have an image myself, these are often the moments I seek for an image on Canva. Food for thought, thank you!
My take on Hive content is that I'm sure everyone has something they can write about, engage with others about, create vlogs etc as each and every one of us has something they care about. It can be anything and I think it's only a matter of finding your personal groove here.
Great post, thanks for giving me food for thought!
If I find out I've voted AI content I reverse the vote. But that's just me.
On the own image thing...Go and look at my posts, like the post feed of them...not always does the image have anything to do with the content, the image is there to get attention. Of course, if I was writing about a camping trip I took, then I'd want the images to reflect that, not be of a tug boat or a toilet block in the local supermarket, or some such thing. You know? One must apply some logic.
Makes total sense. I do have thousands (probably much more lol) of pictures that are good but will probably never leave my folder on the computer. I could dig into these in the future. I will give it a try the next time I don't have a picture of the topic.
Maybe also try finding a picture you like and making your post about that, meaning create a post based on the image; get creative, it shows personality.
Yeah, I've done that, it's a great tip!
But, I really love your writings. No matter you are winning any kind of reward or not. But you articles enhance my vocabulary and I really feel that you have that approach to build up your strong point of view. Moreover with your writings we get a new perspective.
I'm glad you find some value in my writing, that means I'm doing something right. Also, as you say, reading increases one's vocabulary and can improve one's own writing subsequently.
I write to challenge myself to express ideas better and to clarify my thoughts about whatever I’ve been thinking about. I like reading that kind of content too. I just want to see people going about their lives and trying to become better or exploring what interests them. If I want to read a novel or Wikipedia article I’ll pick up a novel or go to Wikipedia.
That's a good reason to be writing and it will provide great value.
Reading real people talk about real life is much more engaging than reading some spun rubbish. Passion and personality is where it's at for me...If I don't see it I stop reading and move on - the writing doesn't even have to be great - just real.
Naturally, I feel like I am doing something terrible or missing some mark when I do not see appreciation or attention for what I do. Yes, I have felt my content is drab and boring a couple of times. But, lately, I have been trying to wean myself off that mentality as that it really isn't mine—as a time came and some good folks people made me understand that I'm actually alright.
My standard has always been, "Create what you can go back to after a long time and be proud of it—especially when you remember the joy of doing it the—rather than cringe over it and hope it never surfaces again."
I'll admit that I don't show up every now and then as should, like making posts regularly and going around often, but the very least I do when I "try" is to be genuine, sincere, and wholehearted as I can be.
I started trying all my best to use my photos—and them alone, if I can—when I started understanding your perspective and the truth about using stock photos. Normally, I can go through a post and not even take a millisecond on the photos if they aren't original, because there's nothing to appreciate about it. Knowing that people can feel that way, too, I try to use mine. They may not be the best, but they're mine and speaking of my personality. Thank you, sir Galen, for that.
And, speaking of attention, we can't satisfy everyone, and so there's no point trying. After all, we all have different preferences. As long as I am doing "me" and sticking to improving everyday, I should be fine and happy. I do like it when I get feedbacks, especially the nice ones.
For that individual that feels less of themselves, and are actually incredible by being genuine and wholesome with their content, I hope they see their reality as being awesome in their own way soon enough and be happy with it.
The concept of the colorful pencils lines up perfectly, sir. And the photos are very nice. Can I keep them? I know I can't use them on the internet.
Being genuine and sincere is a good start towards being a good person generally and I think it's a good way to approach Hive also.
I'm glad you use your own photos, and even though they may not be as good as professional shots, they're you, your personality as you say, and that has value. I appreciate peoppe that do so, over those who throw a stock image in...and more than one? I switch off and click away to better content immediately.
The person I mentioned in this post, I've got their back and that'll be fine. I just wanted to make a point to them and this post has done that.
If you take my photos, please don't use them online, or in print, ok?
That's so cool!
Yes. Thank you.
Mate, I want to congratulate you because the other day I read the article about the top curators and saw you and @tarazkp on the list. I know you don't create content for that purpose, but I believe that valuable content should be rewarded, and the content you both create is deserving of every vote, at least in my humble opinion.
On another note, I think the topic of this reflection is incredible, and I agree with you. At first, I was terrified of not being able to publish much, but after being here, I've found that there's a community that appreciates almost any topic from everyday life. If you enjoy writing, you'll find the community. I've taken note of each of the tips you give, as always, to improve my posts with each one.
If I had to give any advice, it would be to take a few days, take note of everything you do, take some photos, and write about them in a community that fits. I've found this practice to be very relaxing. Writing makes my anxiety disappear, and interacting with other posts improves my content and experience in this ecosystem. I believe that Hive is designed in such a way that if you write with quality and use your own photos, there will always be someone who values your content, no matter what it is about. But as I said, I'm not the one to give advice, so I listen to those who know and have been here longer to improve. That person was very lucky to be able to talk to you, and I'm sure they learned something.
I think it's important to read this post from time to time to relieve the pressure that sometimes falls on us for not having incredible content. Sometimes we complicate things and forget the true essence of Hive: to be social and grow as a community. Anyway, I really liked the topic of this reflection, and I hope that person doesn't give up on Hive because with perseverance, discipline, a desire to improve, and a willingness to learn, I know everyone can create quality content.
You say about taking some photos, the time to think about your posts...that's the cool thing about wanting to create good, relatable content that aligns with your own interests, you think more. It extends the enjoyment.
I do the same, as I said in another comment here. I think about my posts, topics, content etc. I plan them out when I don't have other more important things to think about, and when I sit down to write often it's just a formality, although I enjoy the process of finding the right words. This means my enjoyment isn't in just seeing a few bucks in rewards, it goes deeper than that and is more fulfilling. So, you're on the right track.
I also liked your comment as below.
This is really well thought and said. Just be ourselves, those who respond to it positively and engage will know theyre doing it for the right reasons, not a fabrication...which starts relationships off much better and makes sure they're sustainable.
Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you saw this post and took the time to engage with me.
It is really sad to think that a person creates a content that he doesn't like, I agree that our content must be liked by ourselves to be liked by others, and even if others don't like it if I like it that's enough for me, because for me writing and my content is the source of my inspiration.
Of course it is a source of pride and satisfaction that other people like it and give you a nice comment, a vote, because it motivates and encourages us to continue, I do not consider my content as great but average, I think I've been improving a little thanks to Hive and I like that, because the idea is to improve ourselves little by little, I think we are releasing ideas and perfecting ourselves as we do it, it is a long process that we do not know how long it will take, the important thing is to enjoy it. I loved reading your greetings.
We must first inspire ourselves which, in turn, will inspire others right?
You mention the concept of continual improvement and I agree that it's very important for a person to have that ethos here and in life in general. Understanding that we can improve, knowing where to and how will carry a person forward to a better life.
Thanks for your great comment.
I can appreciate the person who thinks that their writing is boring or not inspiring. If it is someone who has always written in the past, perhaps burnout? How does one not fall into burnout? Sometimes too many eggs in one basket. It can get overwhelming.
I like posting although life as it is presenting at the moment has made it difficult for me to throw this many dishes in the air and still catch them. But, it seems to be getting better, if only in my head.
While some of the posts I read will raise the adrenaline level to the max, it is the everyday, relatable topics that pique my interest, The others are like dessert. They are good, but, I need real food to survive. Open discussion, including your audience, and sometimes just a nice piece about life. Informational. I love learning and never want to stop. I will even go back to school just for a class if it interests me enough.
I am still growing and changing... I hope to never stop.
Hi, Galen.Good morning from here.
State of mind and other things going on is to blame, it can leave a person feeling a little uninspired about things, I totally get it. Burnout also I suppose. Either way, it prompted this post about *being true to oneself and one's interests which will make the writing better.
I see so many here faking it and while it may work a few times, *especially with the whale voters who never read the posts, it's often unrelatable and isn't conducive to engagement...I've asked people questions about their post content and they come back with nonsensical answers because they don't actually know the topic. I move on making a mental note to never go back.
Well said, I agree...this can be further discussed over a Devonshire tea. Just saying. 😋
:)
This place has always really confused me. I've never been sure if it was an actual social media site, a personal blogging site, or a site like Medium (which I'm not sure how to label). Really, I think it's probably a little bit of all three and maybe more.
Back in 2016, I felt like Steemit should be or would become more like Medium so I tried to write a running column of short to mid-length posts about various aspects of living in Japan. I liked doing that and felt like it was a good way to make content. It really pushed me to look at the world around me and find things that people might not know about in Japan, or cultural differences that people might find interesting.
At that time, I felt like people here should really try to make content that would be useful to other people, but that kind of thinking, imposing my view of useful on others, quickly became troublesome.
I still think running a column or a weekly post is a good way to make content, but it can be hard to keep up with over the long haul. I ran out of things to say about living in Japan and felt like I could’t repeat myself, although now I realize that it's perfectly okay to do so (because new readers join in from time to time).
These days I just share what I'm working on, which is mostly short porms that follow the typical 5-7-5 syllable haiku pattern. It's something that I enjoy doing, and fortunately, I tend to get a few really great comments each week that encourage me to continue.
As you said in your post, posting about things that interest you, that you would do even if there was no one to share it with (you didn't say that part), is the best way to go. That way, the reward is always just in making something and anything else is icing on the cake.
If there's no personal enjoyment in doing something like this, a hobby essentially, then it doesn't make sense to do it really. If a person enjoys what they do they'll do it with more passion and personality, and get better personal value from it.
That line you write above says it all really.
Totally agree that we should just be ourselves! Personally I don't give myself any pressure - unlike some, I don't set any Hive Goals or targets. Just happy to be engaging with a (generally) friendly community and Hive votes are just icing on the cake. Different strokes for different people I guess.
I like your style!
I think people strong those goals and targets do so primarily so they can do a shit post about their goals and targets each month. Not a lot of personality there though.
Yours are one of those that are interesting to read.
Thank you, I appreciate that greatly.

Saludos
I'm sorry, I do not speak Spanish.
When I write I consider that my content is not monotonous, I write about my experiences and sometimes about a proposed topic where I consider I can give a good contribution.
However, I understand the person making the comment a bit, here on the platform there is very impressive content on trips and places that at least I cannot access at the moment and when compared it can give that feeling, I still think there is enough space for everyone here and valued is originality. Greetings
Use a translator I apologize if there is any writing error.
I like that you create content based on your experiences and yes, I understand that there's always someone who has done more, or better...but that doesn't negate the experiences we have ourselves and they are still valid things to want to share. That's why I suggest people just be themselves and not worry too much about what others may have done.
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it.
