I would definitely select to visit Jamaica with the love of my life. We have 9 years of being together and we deserve a vacation in a wonderful place like this and definitely a Blue Mountain coffee would trigger our second honeymoon.

I would order a couple of Blue Mountain coffee to our suite, with almond milk on the side to, first taste it and know if it's true what they say about its sweet and subtle taste you can almost feel a slight hint of chocolate among its creaminess and thickness. And then I would try it with almond milk, as I think it would be the perfect combination to start an active day in Jamaica.

We would go to the east of the island in a rustic car, while listening to a good classic reggae. We would stop at the foot of the blue mountain range to take some pictures so we could remember the moment and tell our children about our second honeymoon in Jamaica.

Then we would visit, walking as we like to know the places where we go, one of the coffee producing farms. We would taste their beans and accompany the roasting process to finally end the day watching the sunset with a steaming cup of blue mountain coffee in our hands. It is possible that this variety of coffee is an aphrodisiac and added fun to the nights of our second honeymoon 🤭.

After 7 unforgettable days in this coffee paradise, we returned home with a reserve of this delicious coffee, to drink it on special occasions and remember our entire romantic adventure.

first taste it and know if it's true what they say about its sweet and subtle taste you can almost feel a slight hint of chocolate among its creaminess and thickness.

The alleged chocolate flavour is not an additive, although imitations do add additives to mimic the taste. But, nothing..., I confess that the colour is subtly different from typical coffees. To enlighten you, you knew the brands Peñón, Fama de América and Madrid, talking about coffee from more than twenty years ago... Well, in a greca I take a spoonful of each of those coffees, add 1/4 teaspoon of ground dark chocolate.... You will get an appreciation of at least 20% of what a JBM cup is...

Wow, I'm definitely going to do it... I would love to have even an idea of the taste of a JBM and with this recommendation I will surely live my own experience.
It's just that putting together the 2 things I love coffee and chocolate, is something I always try to do.

Thank you very much, I'll tell you later the result ☺️👍🏼.

Sweetheart, the mix I propose to you is more than 20 years old. The brands of coffee in Venezuela no longer meet expectations. My brother who lives in El Junquito-Caracas describes the brands to me like this: Fama de América, tastes like wood, El Peñón is not on the shelves, Madrid seems to have ashes and a brand I don't know "Amanecer" started with a good taste, but they have already degraded it.

Now, according to me, the one that is making the grade is La Montaña. It uses a fretwork, the ratio of coffee to chocolate is 1:10. Remember, dark chocolate powder, the kind you use for baking.

Sounds like a very beautiful experience! It would be great for every coffee lover to have a week like this, I guess!

@chacald.dcymt
Oh, you have me daydreaming here and imagining just how beautiful a vacation experience that would be.

Why Almond milk? Is your preferred milk, or just your thinking that it would be the perfect combination for that coffee?

My husband is slightly lactose intolerant and recently discovered ALmond milk and he loves it with his cereal.

Because of my illness I can't consume dairy or sugar, so vegetable milk is a marvel and almond milk is my favorite, I can imagine it with this JMB. It would be perfect 💜☕....

It's our pleasure! Have a nice day:)))

Hi dear @chacald.dcymt , a second honeymoon sounds interesting to nourish love and with a new brand of coffee with almond milk even more vital energy for everyone. A dream trip.

Yes, perfect for rekindling romance. I loved that idea of going to Jamaica for a blue mountain coffee.

That sounds like a nice second honeymoon. It's a good idea to first try the coffee on its own and then after with almond milk to see the difference. Good thinking

It is important to have both versions to compare .... I am very detailed, so much so that even my plans in my dreams take care of the details 🤭.... This is how I conquered my husband.

Haha "plan the work and then work the plan," as they say. Being highly organized is usually a good thing - even in one's dreams 😂

First of all, I’m happy that the CCC team arranged this type of post that stimulates the community members to add comments and engage with each others. It feels a lot easier when you see all opinions combined in a single post. Congrats to this decision! And now to the topic itself…

First of all, both Jamaica and Indonesia are well know coffee producers and most likely all the people would like to visit both the countries, but we have to choose one.

Jamaica
I have some special attitude towards this country, not only because I have affinity to the reggae music, but also they have maybe what is one of the most famous coffee varieties in the world - the Blue mountain coffee. I had some encounters with this coffee and they are some of the best coffee related memories.

Source: https://www.sandals.co.uk/blog/why-jamaicas-blue-mountain-coffee-is-the-worlds-most-sought-after-coffee/

You can easily see that this region of Jamaica has stunning beauty. Blue mountain gives the name of this coffee, but I think they have multiple of varieties growing there. It’s just the climate that leads this coffee to perfection. And who would refuse a trip there combined with unlimited quantity of BM coffee? It’s not only the mountains, it’s seen in a recent post of @millycf1976 that Jamaica has some stunning Sea/Ocean locations too!
https://hive.blog/hive-194848/@millycf1976/banishing-the-monday-blues

I think a vacation there will be excellent! But… let’s go to

Indonesia

https://www.tripsavvy.com/thmb/iZgeYZledcihlHkxuvQq6TGW9g0=/750x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc():format(webp)/where-is-bali-5936c3e73df78c08abe9eb45.jpg
Source: https://www.tripsavvy.com/where-is-bali-1458554

Indonesia is a perfect tourist location and I have ever dreamt about visiting Bali! You can easily fall in love with the nature, even from the photos. My wife has visited Bali and she cannot stop telling me what a wonderful place it is. There are also a lot of mountains, and of course coffee, which likes growing at high altitudes. But… we talk about Kopi Luwak here. Why is this coffee so famous? It’s been a ban in this country, on regular people consuming coffee. All the production used to be exported when the Dutch traders were taking all of the precious crops. The locals then saw this particular animal eating coffee cherries then pooping the beans. No one wanted these beans so the locals started consuming them, finding that they were not bad at all… But I think that what makes this coffee special is the story and the unique “process” of making it. I heard that the beans were not that special at all. I think you can find a lot of excellent coffee in Indonesia, but Copi Luwak is just a NO for me. 😁

So my choice at this case easily would be Jamaica!

 last year (edited)

that stimulates the community members to add comments and engage with each other.

Thanks, we do hope that others will realise that there is some value in commenting too.

When I lived in Jamaica years ago, it was always my dream to visit Indonesia (Bali in particular), with the intention of buying and shipping their rustic natural furnishings back to Jamaica. So I understand that it's a desirable destination for many.

However, now that I've spent time in SE Asia, and have returned home to Jamaica, I have a new appreciation for our nature and realise that it's all here too.

It's a no for the Kopi Luwak coffee for me too. There's no way I would knowingly drink it 😅

I think Jamaica would be a great choice for you since you also love reggae and it would be your chance to enjoy all the JBM coffee, which I think you'd probably stock up on to take back home:)))

Oh, and that photo that you've added, really makes me a little disappointed that I won't make it to BM this time 😏

Hive experience is great overall, but when other people get involved, it becomes just another level.

Hopefully Indonesia and Jamaica will both be checked in my “to go” list, one day eventually.

Maybe the fact that you won’t make it to BM this time will give you just one more reason to go back there, sooner than later.

How funny 🤭...I had no idea about the Kopi Luwak coffee process. I hope they get coffee beans in a more hygienic way these days 😅.... But I don't know it would be worth a try and a visit to Bali.

🎆🎇🎉🎊🌧️💐✨🌾🌱🌹🌙🌿🍃🥀⚡🌺☘️🍀🌈🌷⭐🪴🌵🌸🌟💮🌴🌳💫☀️💮☔🌲🌳🌍🌌🌠☄️🏵️🐝🌻🌼🍄🐞🦋💙☕💜🍍🎆🎇🎉🎊

The processing Copi Luwak definitely should meet all the health regulations. I don’t know about the past, but today you cannot obey certain things that can be potentially harmful. 😁
However it is still a NO for me🤷🏻‍♂️

 last year (edited)

Two very different options but both with their pros of visiting. I don't doubt that Kopi Luwak would be a delicious coffee but I worry about any product involving animals. Exploitation is always a concern in such circumstances. My guess is that the animals live in horrendous conditions in many cases, probably not all cases, but many I'm sure. For that reason alone I would also choose Jamaica.

 last year (edited)

I would be "full of shit" if I chose to have a week of endless Kopi Luwak coffee over Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.

#NotJustLiterallySpeaking 💩🤣
#ILovePunsButNoneIntented 😝

 last year

🤣

Nice one! 👍 haha

 last year

🤣😆

I guess if they want to meet the huge worldwide demand of Kopi Luwak, they should involve a lot of these animals. Otherwise they will be forced to sell fake product and pretend it’s all real Kopi Luwak.

Your point is just one more reason to go in Jamaica this time!

 last year

Yes that is very true indeed

... Blue mountain gives the name of this coffee, but I think they have multiple of varieties growing there. It’s just the climate that leads this coffee to perfection. ...

The climate is decisive, but two factors are what make it special: 1.- The cloud cover with the humidity that envelops the plantations, and 2.- The manufacturing process.

How the beans are chosen (size, weight, colour…), how they are washed and processed wet. The roasting, grinding and packaging, as well as the security measures of its container, make the JBM unique.

Yup… it’s the whole process that makes it unique!

I don't know, yes, you know the “pewter cups”, well, in Mantica-France, the cup where they serve JBM coffee is a wooden body with a pewter rim. As I remember, the cup is only used “five times” to serve coffee, and then it is discarded…

I’ve actually never heard of this type of cups. Sounds interesting. I’ll probably search more info on them!

 last year

That's interesting. I used to work at a luxury hotel in Jamaica, and in the main dining room, they served water in pewter cups without ice. That was a refreshing way to drink ambient water which remained cool throughout your meal:)

I think that is precisely the intention. The temperature of the coffee is kept stable in the wooden area and the pewter ring at room temperature, when your lips touch the ring and immediately touch the coffee, it's a sensation of touch, smell, and taste…

A trip to the dream country would be ideal to enjoy the landscape and above all its coffee, the source of life.

Maybe you could turn it into a Christmas wish.

💜☕

Greetings dear community friends, it is a pleasure for me to participate in this conversation on such an exciting topic. Firstly, I must tell you that I deeply appreciate the basic information to carry out this writing, since until now I had no knowledge about these types of coffee, especially Kopi Luwak coffee and its unique and exotic process. However, to the surprise of many, I would like to tell you that I personally love to discover new things, try new flavors and learn more about the cultures and processes of civilizations, for this reason, I would not hesitate to try this Indonesian coffee and interview myself. With its people, I am learning its most indigenous processing techniques and the particular characteristics that surely distinguish each of the places in the country where this rare variety is produced. I would even like someone experienced in adulthood to explain to me why they decided to value the leftovers left by this animal.

Surely at this point, you are already thinking that I am missing a screw in my head, but I assure you that it is not like that, rather the opposite I am expeditionary of the world, and I deeply respect the culture and values of people and the characteristics of populations I could give an example of this on a trip I made to the Brazilian jungle where I had the opportunity to try a kind of pudding called ice cream whose main component is animal brains, a similar thing happened to me when I visited China and I tried a lot of really delicious dishes that in the western side of the world we would not even think of trying.

I'm sorry I don't have more knowledge about Indonesia to tell you a little more about its gastronomic riches, but today I wrote to a friend from that country that I met through a social network a while ago to see if she can tell me a little more about this thing. So strange what they do with that coffee and that animal. I hope you liked my point of view, I say goodbye and send you a big hug.

It's nice that you'd be open-minded enough to try that Kopi Luwak coffee😁
Indonesia is a beautiful country, and I'm sure you would find a lot of cultural things about the country interesting. I know that Venezuela has a German population, well, Indonesia is former Dutch so that would be great for you to do some comparison I suppose:)))

Hello friend, what an interesting fact it is good to know about this comparison of Indonesian with the German culture which was totally unknown to me. On the other hand, you can't deny me that it must be quite an adventure to taste that coffee as strange and unpleasant as it may seem at first.

 last year (edited)

I think Kopi Luwak coffee would be quite an experience that I am only will to read or hear about 🤣

@susurrodmisterio any photo with a source by any chance? See no. 3 of the guidelines. Thanks!

Oh yes, of course I have a pixabay photo with a very nice landscape that for some reason I forgot to upload before posting the comment, but I already edited the publication to place it with its source of origin, thank you very much for reminding me.

They actually started to use coffee from this animal’s leftovers when the Dutch came and they were taking all their good quality coffee for export. They had no other chance to enjoy coffee beans, produced by themselves.

It is surely an interesting experience, but as far as I know, there is nothing that much special and extraordinary about the taste of this coffee. 😉

Interesting, unfortunately colonial times forced the natives to discover new things in order to survive, I understand that the price of this coffee is very high because it is used as a gourmet product, I will have to try it sometime to discover its mysteries, thank you very much for commenting.

 last year

I like to try new things from different cultures as well. Some things can a little strange but I'm pretty adventurous so I would give anything a try (...almost anything) at least once.

Hello dear friend, we think exactly the same I have always said that I must try everything that is food in different parts of the world, no matter how strange it may seem if in that culture they eat it their reasons will have and those cultural reasons I also love to discover them because they nourish my knowledge and serve as a basis for my writings of literature. Thank you for reading, and I send you a big hug.

How good it is to enjoy this life, in a dreamed place of the planet and a cup of coffee, after obtaining my retirement, I deserve this pleasure trip with my partner, luckily I won a 7 days ticket for this country. Jamaica is a country where the landscapes, the music, the people, its history and coffee are the attraction for me.
As every coffee lover there are endless cups of Blue Mountain coffee from Jamaica. So when I taste it I realize that I like its smooth, sweet and creamy taste, but I give it a touch of cream and I am fortunate to enjoy my vacation in this paradise and to know the benefits of Blue Mountain, the best coffee in the world. I will take a souvenir for my family to Venezuela.

Oh, I like that photo of the bag being stitched, and it's surprising that you can find very reasonable brands in the local shops with that kind of packaging:))

yes it is an original presentation, I liked its packaging worthy to give as a gift as a sourvenir and souvenir of Jamaica, in addition to the exuisito best coffee in the world Blue Montain

 last year

I used to work at a hotel that gave away original Blue Mountain coffee as gifts all repeat guests. They loved it:)))

 last year

Good thinking to take a souvenir package of coffee home with you. I think that I would do the same for sure. Maybe a big souvenir bag 😉

I bet you have very good coffee in Venezuela too, but Blue Mountain is really a top quality product! Enjoy it well with your family! A retirement trip also sound great. Time to pamper yourself a bit?

Best wishes!

Well, I would opt for destination Jamaica in a heartbeat. In 2014, I spent a week in Martinique (France), very close to Jamaica, where I had the opportunity to enjoy the delicious, smooth, sweet, bitter-free and unique texture of JBM (Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee). I detailed the characteristics of the Original Packaging, as there are many imitations. It could be said that the JBM container has the security features of a €100 or USD 100 note. It is a gourmet and luxury product, a cup (which even where it is served is special), eight years ago cost USD 10, it is worth it. Since then, I've never tasted it again…

So, to have the opportunity to spend a week in Jamaica with the guarantee of unlimited JBM enjoyment with the love of my life, I wouldn't think twice, I would pack my bags at once. I would prepare myself physically and mentally to make it to the top of Blue Mountain.

One of the main issues with expensive products, just like JBM is that you cannot have a trustworthy certificate or something, that can assure you that you actually enjoy the real product. The Kopi Luwak is the same exact story… I once bought JBM coffee from my Specialty Coffee trusted supplier and it cost me about $10 for 40 grams! It was great!

A week in Jamaica with unlimited JBM sounds like the best offer!

True, but it depends on where it is purchased. Most likely, your trusted dealer can also be misled by the source. Therefore, I would not miss the opportunity to go directly to the producer in Blue Mountain…

 last year

delicious, smooth, sweet, bitter-free and unique texture

You have described the taste of the JBM coffee so well. I've always wanted to go to Martinique, but direct flights across the Caribbean are not available anymore it seems. I made it over to Curacao many years ago, but apparently, that's changed.

I think your choice of Jamaica would be a great one, since you already enjoy the Caribbean flair and love the JBM coffee:)))

I would love to take a trip to the Blue Mountains too, but I don't think I'll make it this trip. None of my friends is prepared for that steep journey, and it's the opposite end of the island from where I'm currently at. Hopefully some day though 🤞

As they say, “hope is never lost”. I was close by for family reasons, as my son Matthew's mother is of French descent. I am Caribbean by birth, Venezuelan, but I settled in Canada twelve years ago. Furthermore, I don't think I made it to the top of Blue Mountain on foot either, but I'm sure I would have made it in a helicopter… Since with fifty-seven calendars, you don't have the physical conditions for the goal.
 last year

I would have made it in a helicopter

Damn, you make me feel kind of stupid now. When I worked at that very resort, the Prime Minister came there regularly. I was very close to his chief security who offered to take me on a tour in the helicopter SO MANY TIMES and I refused. I'm slapping myself now!

For Jamaicans, going to the French or Dutch Caribbean islands is a big treat. Even though some of them are not as naturally pretty with an amazing geographical layout as some islands like Jamaica, their towns are clean and well-maintained. There's also order and a strong presence of a strong government with law and order that might be lacking in countries like Jamaica.

I do hope that you still get to visit Venezuela sometimes, and I trust you now have an appreciation for the Canadian cold 😁

LOL!, the cold here is torture, but the snow is a beauty. I learned to love the four seasons; each has its charm. God willing, on the 14th of December I will travel to Venezuela with my son Matthew, it has been twelve years since I last set foot in my homeland. It will be Matthew's first trip to Venezuela, he will meet his uncles and cousins...

 last year

Wow $10 USD per cup is expensive but it sounds worth it.
I had a cup once in Jamaica when we stopped there for a cruise. It was only in the Port section. I don't remember how much it cost but I remember thinking that it was expensive. I wasn't a huge coffee drinker at the time so I can't even remember the taste unfortunately. I need to try it again I think.

 last year

I had a cup once in Jamaica when we stopped there for a cruise

Really now! #STB here, please! Where were you heading on the cruise?

I can relate to you not having an appreciation for coffee and having to pay big money for it.

Can you believe I had access to, and stored packets of export-quality JBM coffee in my office to give to tourists on arrival????!!!! and never ever took a pack for me???

...Same with Appleton Rum. I got bottles of dark and gold rum as gifts whenever I took journalists to the rum estate. I used to give away those bottles of rum.

My husband thinks I belong in an asylum🤣

 last year

It was a carribean cruise many years ago and one of the stops was in Jamaica. The port there is closed off to the public but there are many approved vendors there..I guess. It is sort of like a closed off shopping compound with specific vendors approved by the cruise lines. You might already be aware of this? Anyway, we never left that compound that day but did some very light shopping there. I bought a hand carved wooden owl along with a cup of coffee. So technically I have been to Jamaica but I wouldn't actually say that I have been there because we didn't experience any of the country other than the commercialized tourist area created specifically for the cruise lines.

That's too bad that you gave away all of your free swag.

 last year

Ah, that sounds like the Ocho Rios or Montego Bay port...

The wood carvings are incredibly popular souvenirs. Many times guests left the island and would call the hotel and ask was to purchase carvings and ship them to the US:)

 last year (edited)

Yeah both of those ports sound familiar so I'm not sure which one it was. I want say that it was the Ocho Rios port...

Yeah there were a ton of the carvings.

We could never understand why giraffes were the most popular carvings since we don't have giraffes in Jamaica. I think the carvers knew that it would appeal to customers despite that fact.

I don't know if I could afford it. But if I pay $10 for a cup of coffee I'll end up licking my bottom 😅.... Too bad you don't remember the taste of coffee in Jamaica. Hopefully you can repeat it.
