Holding the Morning Glory

in LeoFinance2 years ago

While it might not be pleasant seeing the price of holdings circling the drain after a bit of a run up, it is satisfying to see the value increase again on the other side, after buying some at the lower ends. Personally, I started buying back far too early but still, it has made somewhat of a difference already. Not back to where it was, but not "too far" off and is at least within striking distance.

While the "small dips" of the market are often mentally draining, in the long-term view of things, what is the most important factor is being there with some tokens in the bag. This is why the continuous stacking in both the ups and the downs will end up leading to substantial gains, as long as you can afford to wait that long, which many are unable to for various reasons.

I see it much like saving money at the end of the month, where value generation has to bring in more than consumption is taking away - earn more than spending. While "saving" is a terrible way to ever become wealthy, the concept is the same for crypto, where in order to keep the stack growing, I have to not need it to finance my life. This means keeping all debt obligations to a minimum and ensuring my working income outpaces my expenditures.

This is easier said than done of course and there are always unexpected costs that arise, as well as splurge expenditures from time to time to put a dent in the balance, but I have tried to make sure that I can cover most potential "must spends" with savings and only splurge if I have the extra above and beyond that amount. We don't splurge often.

I am one of those believers in "small changes add up" and when it comes to crypto, this definitely has an effect from my own experience. Small changes to pretty much my entire life over the last almost five years has taken me a very long way - from near destitute to quite comfortable, with wholesale change happening when looking back from today.

Some of the changes have been in my finances, where I have reevaluated where I spend my income, but a lot of them have been in what I actually do - with the main one being that I took a second full-time job on top of the business I run and have worked to the point that I have even been able to get somewhat promoted there. This has been huge in many ways, as it allowed us to get atop our finances, buy a house and renovate it and knock off most of the debt we have (bar mortgage) without having to dip into any crypto funds - though I have been tempted at times.

This hasn't been a cake walk of course, as it has taken an enormous amount of work near constantly, but I see it like a sporting career, where earning potential like this is relatively short-lived, so make hay while the sun shines. I think that I will look back on these times as some of the most rewarding in my lifetime, as while it has been hard, I do get the sense that not only will it help me, but the journey has been one that matters and has helped others too - whether they know it or not.

While it is all pretty messy so far, we already in crypto are somewhat trailblazers and all of those to come are going to benefit from the muck we have waded through to get here. This isn't only on Hive of course, but the industry as a whole and I think that most of us, will get little thanks for it. Hopefully though, we will still be rewarded as owners, at least those of us that can make it to mass adoption with decent tokens still in the bags.

But, even if we don't I am pretty sure many of us are going to have some war stories to tell, even if we didn't "make it out alive". One of the cool things about the Hive journey, is we actually get to document part of it ourselves, with the blockchain also recording what it can to add to the story - and all out the BS on many as time goes on. It is a blessing for some and a curse for others that our activity is immortalized on the blockchain.

But, for now I am going to head to bed as I have my IV treatment tomorrow morning - though I don't really want to as HIVE is looking a little feisty and we are approaching the market witching hour for it. Hopefully though, I wake up to the glorious feeling of massive gains in the morning.

Is that what is meant by, "morning glory"?

I know there are certainly lots of stories to be told! I’m proud of the two Eth I bought back when it was 120$ an Eth, other than that I just have some unfortunate burns that have happened over time. Trying to sell the high to buy the low and ending up with a bloody hand and bruised ego lol.

Congrats on the new job by the way! I think I read you got the one you applied for? That’s awesome! I’m new at my company which is tough but I’m trying to figure out a way to spin myself into a job that’s a better suit for me overall. Hoping I can get the process going but I talked to a guy and he told me he would love me on his team with my experience. Just have to figure out how to navigate that discussion with my boss hahaha.

I am curious to see how things behave over the next week and see what the heck the hive ecosystem does for price action! Wild times that’s for sure but I’m glad that we have multiple things besides Splinterlands that are getting outsiders and insiders excited!

Most people don't like to tell these stories. They like to talk in the 1000% up percentages - not mentioning the amounts of skin in the game :)

Congrats on the new job by the way! I think I read you got the one you applied for? That’s awesome!

Cheers! yeah, I got it and signed last night. Start in the new year officially :)

This can be hard to have, especially if the boss is more interested in their own well being and department, than the overall health of the company.

The next month on SL is going to be interesting for the next two years!

Yeah, I'm hoping that my boss is cool with it. The company has lots of things that say "we would rather you try and move to a different job in the company then leave and go somewhere else" type mindset. Will they be cool? I'll definitely find out lol.

Awesome, great way to ring in the new year! You'll be less with clients or not with them at all?

My company is much the same and is pretty good at retaining people overall, as well as letting them experiment a bit. A good business culture to have is a growth mindset, where employees grow too.

That's great to hear! I guess working in a different industry changes things. My previous employer really didn't want you to do anything like that so I'm not used to that lol.

I've been exploring a lot of the HR things and notices about employee life so I think I'll schedule a meeting with my manager to see if I can broach the topic.

That's a great perspective. Everyone wants to buy the dip till the dip comes, and everyone cries the sky is falling. May the Force Be With you.

A little or big dip, it is just a blip on the future :)

From this persvective, HIVE is our diary book that we stop by and write some notes (posts, comments) which will stay here forever. A new way of inheritance, a kind of biography but with some tokens ;)

I see a lot of what I write in this way - where my daughter will get a piece of my life, intertwined with her own - and hopefully some of those tokens to help her realize her dreams too.

Morning Glory for those who bought hive at $0 .12 and now see it at $1.85 .There is no any gift so far in this christmas . I am optimistic to see Morning Glory still be there if hold the hive to $5.00 and soon it gonna happen.

I wonder how many have already sold :D

But, even if we don't I am pretty sure many of us are going to have some war stories to tell, even if we didn't "make it out alive".

Although I don't believe in the necessity of wars, I liked this metaphor!

Boa noite and I wish you luck tomorrow, with your treatment. Hive will be waiting for you ;<)

I am pretty much a pacifist too - but wars can be fought on many levels these days.

The treatment should go okay - but it makes me very tired for several days after and with a terrible headache. It didn't worry me much before, but since the stroke, it is more of a concern.

Hive will be here though :)

Wise words. I agree.

Here's hoping that you won't be tired for too long, this time around.

And if you ever need a laugh, I invite you to read one of my posts. It's free, natural medicine ;^)

I have followed you and will keep an eye out :)

Thank you! I appreciate it. Boa noite!
