I can't exactly recall, but maybe I've said before that I'm not much of a cook because I don't enjoy it enough to learn all the things that make someone good at it and tend to stick to a few tried and tested dishes that I know I can't mess up too much. There's not many, only a handful of things I would say I'm good at making and the rest I accomplish by feeling my way forward; there's been more than a few total failures.
Sometimes I come across things I think would be tasty and easy enough for me to make and I don't mind trying new things so when I heard about this watermelon salad which, I'll admit, sounds like anyone could make it I thought it could be an easy and tasty option to add to my small number of things I could make in the kitchen.
It's not really cooking as such, more preparing, I suppose but that's ok; and the list of ingredients sound a little strange to combine but the friend who told me about this assures me I'll love it so I'll be giving it a try - it's not a winter dish although I'm going to try it on the weekend.
The ingredients are watermelon, cucumber, crumbled feta cheese, red onion, avocado, basil and mint, and a little lime dressing. It's not what I'd normally combine in a salad but it sounds summery and light and I like all the ingredients; I think it's worth a try and will be a good excuse to use the mint I've grown also.
The method is simply to cube the watermelon, cucumber and avocado, finely chop the red onion, add in the crumbled feta and basil and mint leaves then drizzle on the dressing and toss lightly. I don't think even I could get that wrong! I'm told there's a few slight variations mainly with the dressing but I'm going to try it the way my friend suggested and see how it goes before I try to get too creative.
I don't mind exploring and learning new things and feel it's one of my responsibilities, to myself, to keep doing that; it means I'll fail along the way, like my cooking sometimes does, but that's part of life's journey.
You have a super nice taste musically, I always love your songs, even if I don't understand all the lyrics because it's not my native language, they sound wonderful, I love this genre of music.
I hope the salad turned out perfect, even though I'm not much of a vegetarian but I also know it's because of an availability issue...this type of food is very healthy and being able to grow your vegetables is a powerful exercise for the mind and body.
I would have liked to see the final dish...😅
Oh thank you, I like music and and anything that makes me feel something or sounds goo to my ears is on my list.
As for the dish, as I said in the post, I will be doing it on the weekend so at the time of me writing this post I had not yet made it, so couldn't show a picture of it.

True!!!!
I read on the run, my apologies, then I'm curious to see the salad....
I hope it looks super good on you...I loved cooking before, today I do it out of necessity and not to starve..but I still enjoy seeing how some unfamiliar dishes are made by YouTube.
Best wishes with the salad, 😋.

The combination sounds good, and all the ingredients are nutritious and have many beneficial properties, very good for your health. It would also be very colourful, I would also try it even though I have never made a salad that way. I'll give it a try. I'm sure it will be delicious.
What a great song and video in nature, I loved it!
Hugs Becca.💗
I think it'll be next weekend when I try it. I've seen some images and they look pretty good but I'm not sure mine will look quite as good. I'll do my best.
To me, it's important to try new things and to get out of my comfort zone even if that means messing it up sometimes; I suppose if we are not to try things we will never know.

If we don't do it wrong, we don't learn.... I'm sure it will look great! It will!
Hugs Becca!💗
Onion and watermelon? That sounds like a combination for the courageous! I don't think my brain would let me combine onion with a fruit. Although, It sounds summery and sort of fresh. I've not come across this dish before so hope to hear how it goes when you manage to "cook" it. Good luck.
Isn't it funny how people put things together that other people find off-putting? I know what you mean though, onion and watermelon doesn't seem like a match made in heaven although I have it on good authority that it is very tasty, this salad, so I'm willing to risk it.
