Yeah I like the bright colors.
In Canada we don't have shutters at all, just small ornamental ones that have no real function other than asthetics, on older homes generally. I think that is why I like them so much. They are still a novelty to me.

Yeah exactly haha. I want to buy some and bring them home with me when I go back. They would probably cost a fortune though and would be impossible to install I bet. They are heavy things and I notice that the outer walls on homes are often much thicker in Europe. I'm sure that the shutters require some sort of fortification to withstand the weight so I doubt you can just attach them to any old home. Would be nice though. I bet they save a lot of energy by keeping the house cooler in the summer by blocking the sun and warmer in the winter by holding the heat in.
Get some cheap replica lightweight wooden ones made, or steal them from a cupboard and give them a lick of pain. I just actually noticed that the doors in my attic that lead into the eaves are essentially those shutters but with little door handles on them.
