She was my first

A first love always occupies a special place.

- Lee Konitz -

We went virtually every together, almost inseparable from the moment we met. I simply wanted to be with her in every moment. Her body seduced me; I craved the way she felt in my hands, the feel of her beneath me and I desired those beautiful moments in which I was inside her; that body surrounding me, cocooning me within her beautiful and sensuous curves as we moved together. It was blissful - She was my first.

The day I turned sixteen I obtained my learner-drivers permit. I knew how to drive already as I'd driven around my parents property from the age of about thirteen, but it was now official. I'd have to drive under supervision until I passed my drivers test but that was a formality - I knew soon I'd be able to drive alone. original im src

Three months later that happened. I was licensed.

I started working at the local supermarket after school at the age of thirteen and whilst fifty percent of my meagre income went to my parents to help with the household bills, I was left with $25 to do with as I pleased. I saved most of it for various things, bought my own clothing and things and took financial the pressure off my mum and dad as much as possible.

By the time I secured my drivers license I had just under $700 saved up for a car. I had to work off a budget of $450 purchase price as there'd be ownership-transfer costs and I wanted to have enough for a couple tanks of fuel knowing I'd want to drive a lot initially. It wasn't much, but I had to buy my car completely myself; my parents couldn't afford to help.

White skin and cute freckles

When I saw her I knew I'd found the one. She had curves in all the right places and a cute sprinkling of freckles across her white skin...and boy could she move! Yep, she was the one. I did the deal and drove her away, the proud owner of a 1964 Volkswagen Beetle - My first car.

I'd better be honest here...She didn't really have freckles...the spots were rust holes and dents. Also, she didn't move so well - sort of slow and cumbersome really - but she was curvaceous and...she was mine. I was very proud.

From that point I began to drive to high school. I'd drop my two younger brothers at their primary school and off I'd go, just a cool dude and his first car. But yeah, it wasn't very cool. She leaked oil, had rust holes everywhere including a ragged rust hole in the footwell of the drivers side that meant I could see the road. She burned oil, needed constant attention and she was slow. I don't mean *slow and sensual...just slow. Very slow...but I was mobile.

We drove all over the place together, that girl and I, and I loved the feeling of freedom we found, just her and I.

I would clean that car for hours, not that it made any difference of course, but I'd clean it inside and out each week - It was a constant job cleaning up the rust flakes that seemed to build up constantly. I'd wash the exterior, do the windows, dry it all, polish what little chrome was left on the bumpers and trims and generally care for that car with a lot of love. I was brought up to respect what I had as it was unlikely I'd get another and it had taken a lot of effort have the money to secure, and pay for, the running of that car.

A couple of months after getting her I changed jobs to the bigger supermarket in the town and started earning a little more money; a good thing considering the costs of running that car. About eight months later I ended up selling her and buying something a little more reliable though as I was reluctant to sink money into a car that was clearly wasn't very sound. It was a sad moment as I truly felt like I was selling a friend.

That old girl and I had seen many good times together and when the fellow drove her away I felt quite sad. I had $400 in my hand though and my second car to experience more moments with...but I'd always have a soft spot for my first.

I'll never forget that car and memories of it will always make me smile.

I can hear its little engine puttering along, smell the interior and recall the feel of the knobs on the instrument panel, the clicking of the indicator and feel of that hard plastic steering wheel in my hands. I also remember the fear I felt when I hit the brakes and didn't know if she'd stop in time. She was a fickle girl, but was mine for a time. I don't have any photos of her unfortunately, there were no mobile phone cameras in 1986...I have the memories and they haven't faded.

I've had many cars plus several motorbikes since then and each has served its purpose. I've had some truly spectacular vehicles but...there's few I remember as fondly as that 1964 Volkswagen Beetle. That car signified a change in my life, it was a time I came to know myself a little better and found new and unexpected directions. I found freedom to some degree I suppose, and the moments we spent together are indelibly written in my memory.

What a great way to tell the story, awesome :D
My first was Fiat Punto (well, I'm from Europe, so don't blame me and my ex bought it so you can blame him haha). I just got my license, 18 years old and well, khm I crashed it (nearly a total) a few months later. My ex still stayed with me for some reason but the car had to be replaced. Oh well, I miss that car, was a good one..

Yeah, I like to have some fun when I write sometimes...Figured a bit of clickbait text would make it fun. Lol.

Fiat Punto...Worthy of crashing.

Seriously though, I'm sure it got you where you needed to be. It certainly couldn't have been worse than my first car.

Lol, you made it work for sure :D

Haha, fair enought! They're actually really nice, reliable cars to drive, if you don't crash it that is lol. It was a good car, absolutely. Never thought I would drive something like that straight after getting my license. Good times!

I drove one in Italy once...I agree, not a bad little car at all.

I have always, always, always wanted a VW Beetle - my initials are VW, after all, and it seems very fitting. The closest I came was a VW Rabbit.

I got the car when I was in Calgary, knowing that I was soon to drive cross country - 2,500km - to Windsor, ON for graduate school. I ended up driving even farther than that, to Delaware initially, then would roadtrip monthly for a weekend between Windsor and Delaware.

When I left Calgary I packed everything I owned into the back of the car and made the long drive. No Air-conditioning. No tape player. Just straight up standard transmission, an open window, and a lot of static on the radio for 3 1/2 days of straight driving, 12 hours/day.

I miss that car.

I like those! Fun cars.

I have a few VW's. The best being a fastback fuel injected 1600 that I really liked. Again, not the coolest car but reliable. Something like your cross country road trip would have been within its capabilities.

Also, how good are road trips! Love them.

Road trips are one of the best ways to soothe the soul! My current vehicle is perhaps slightly more comfortable than that old Rabbit which really means I can stuff one of the kids into it for some company. Yes, it is definitely time for another trip.

We’ll that gal was a lot cooler than my first.. a 1984 Chevy Celebrity 2 door. What a none attractive vehicle but I had wheels!

Worked on the farm for a long long time to save up enough for it and college at same time. Sold it a few years later and bought a 1982 Jeep CJ7.

My actual Jeep - 2nd vehicle and YES I thought the yellow was cool. Lol

Maybe NOT the best idea on a limited income. Oh well. You live and learn. Nice we have those good memories and remember how we worked hard to earn them!

Your second car was cooler than the first, although I'd imagine it cost you a lot more to keep on the road? Electrical issues?

No.. Gasket issues. I think every single gasket blew in the year 1996. lol. And the tools found around the farm didn't cut it. I was lucky to have met a buddy that had a garage where he would work on cars for extra cash. He would let me use it when he wasn't busy.. although I think we drank more wine than fixed stuff. He made his own wine right there and so we just had to.. it was a given!

Oh yeah, that's sure to be costly. I've had cars that did that...The problem is I've liked the cars and so kept them and kept fixing them. The things we do huh?

drank more wine than fixed stuff

Had a chuckle at this. Have to admire a man who owns it! 😀

Shhhhhh... Wife (girlfriend at the time) doesn't know it though. She used to ask at the time "Is it done yet?" and I would just tell her we were still working things out. Hey! It's a process. lol. 😂

Your secret is safe.

My 1st and current car is a VW golf.

Bought this one with crypto …. 2021

Great cars indeed! And cool that your latest was a crypto purchase. Nice work. Even doggo approves. 😁

Yeah … Lola loves the VW Golf. Lots of Road trips planned for this summer .

Big dog for a small car...But it's be cosy at least. 😁

Das auto!
Awesome to see you sticking with the golf!
Crypto also helped me buy my dream VW although it's 22 years old now, it's a beast, makes 350 torque, turbo diesel has to smoke and it's a 4x4

That intro!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fair dues to you starting working at 13 as well and handing up half - a great life lesson in the value of money and a hard days work at a young age. I worked on our farm from when I was able to walk pretty much and got my first job outside the family when I was 15 at a local 5 star hotel - I worked their through secondary school and University for some pocket money.. Good memories and certainly helped me appreciate the cost of things..

I was lucky to get a grounding in the value of money early on. It has stuck with me also...The value of a reward for effort ethos and in spending it wisely. Saving it wisely and investing it wisely also. Maybe you know exactly what I mean as you've done the same.

Ya definitely man, we are certainly cut out of the same cloth in that regard. It's a good grounding to have gotten and it stays with you for life.

We're the fortunate ones you know,to have this financial ethos and discipline.

Oh the memories we have of our long lost friends! My first car was a Bradley GT, a kit car. It was a pretty cool looking fiberglass shell on the frame of a 1970 VW bug. It didn't have any doors, just plexiglass windows that went up like gull wings and it leaked like crazy! I thought I was a movie star in that thing. lol

It must be a bug thing, because I can't tell you how many times I almost rear-ended another car or hit the curb due to the temperamental brakes on that beast lolol

I can see you in one of those actually. I haven't driven one but knew a guy who had one. He was a big dude too, don't know how he squeezed in. My first car was probably not cool enough to go cruising with yours, but it was all I could afford at the time. Also...those brakes; almost non-existent. Lol.

My first was a Ford 16M traded with a workmate as I completed the roof of his house after the builders absconded. Had the car for a few months until I traded it in for a Chevrolet 3.8. I also had many cars since and don't have any affiliation for the cars, as my love was for my motorbike.

Seems like you were rolling around in some degree of style! It certainly puts my humble little rusted out Beetle to shame. Oh well, I got what I could afford and loved it whilst I had it. Also, I get it about the motorbike. I've had some pretty amazing ones and loved them all.

Funny enough I never formed a relationship with any of my cars. I suppose that it stems from all of the company vehicles that I had. When you leave a company, the vehicle is retuned, so it's never your own.
That Chevvy was okay until it got repossessed by the bank due to my ex mother in law not doing the payments that I sent through every month from my country job. She rather kept the money to entertain her friends :)

Yes, once on a nice free run one really gets hooked on a bike.

Repossessed huh? Not cool.

One of my friends owns a debt
collection business and some of the stories he tells me are incredible. He repossesses just about anything. Property to combine harvesters. Some amazing stories. Not a fun job.

Oh yeah, but in my case it was not great to lose something that I paid for diligently every month.

Maybe you can do a post about some of the stories, as I bet that it will be interesting coming from the side of a guy who did the actual removals?

I've been thinking about sharing some actually. Some are funny and others not. Sometimes his job isn't very nice.

Oh yes, he would for sure have a mix of tales that could keep many spellbound.
Especially those that also lost their things.

Oh My Buddha - I had a long relationship with a man who still drove his old tomato red beetle he couldn't bear to part with. LOL... he wasn't my first 😆 but I think that car was HIS first in Australia. Years later I went back to Oz for my dad's funeral and saw him again, only to find him driving a silver volvo. It just felt WRONG. 🤣 In my heart he's always the guy tinkering with his beloved beetle.

I think it's a step backwards...Old beetle Volvo. Methinks you have fond memories of this chap and his tinkering.

Indeed I do. One of my great loves, who unfortunately omitted to tell me he was married for the first two years we were together. An NBA basketballer. I miss him still. Sigh.

Married for the first two years of your relationship and didn't tell you?

I was diagnosed with cancer several weeks after we got together. He maintains to this day that he didn't want to upset me by mentioning the wife... and always thoughtfully came to my house so I wasn't tired or stressed by driving unnecessarily. Sigh.

This model was my first one. Audi A6 C4 2.5TDI 103kW/140HP (1995-1997). :) One of the most reliable cars Audi ever made. Even better than the rest of the car was the engine. It could easily survive 1mil kilometers. I bought mine when it had 250K km on the speedometer. Now it has over 500k and still remains in our family... :)

Audi C4.PNG

Pretty cool...In fact way cooler than my first car!

I've had a few Audi's in my day, my A5 Coupe S-line being my favourite. Still, that Beetle I had meant more to me than any of my Audi's.

Thanks for your comment.

Last year I was very close close to buying one of these in wagon version, that 5cylinder TDI's are really undestructable, amazing sound and great fuel consumption, sadly quattro versions are rare and raising in price. Luckly I found myself a B5 4motion, which is wolf in sheeps clothing :)

Very nice!

Sometimes it's nice to have a wolf disguised as a sheep huh? I've had a few cars that are similar. Keeps people guessing.

Memories huh, my first car I had that was registered to use on the road was a 1976 Leyland mini panelvan in red with a white roof. I felt so free once I got my licence and could go out traveling in the mini. I paid $380 for it in the early 90s.

You get it...The feeling of freedom that first car provides. I loved it. Thinking on that panel van now...I think it's probably worth a lot more that $350 if it's in good condition huh?

Freedom👍 Yeah if that van is still about and let's say it's still the same condition when I had it I think it would sell for around $10-12 thousand dollars easy.

It's mind-boggling huh?

Crazy indeed.

It must be a guy thing but from the title I knew you were talking about the car. Oh man my first car was a 1992 Holden Commodore VS HSV. Think it was a 92 model or a 97 I always get confused between VR and VS.

Fark I loved that car my first and only V8. A friend pulled out onto a main road and it got ridden off. I could never come to grips of cheating on her and owning another V8. Fuel was 70-80c a liter back then. We drove the east coast of Aus then cut across to Darwin and down the Stuart Highway to SA. We had plans to go to Alice Springs but down the centre is long, boring at hot so we kept driving. I think I was 19 at the time.

I loved that trip, first and last time I'd do central though.

VR went through to 1995 so VR it was.

That's a decent first car indeed but I htink my 1964 Beetle would have taken it at the lights...All 1.2 liters of roaring beastly engine and all.

I always wanted a Beatle because of the TV show, Herby was it? Be honest did she talk?

Remember the old Minies oh man those things were epic to fang it in and rip the hand break on.

Herbie: The love bug. Yeah.

Reading I totally imagined that poor old Herby at the start of the movie, haa!
Nice one :)

Hahaha that's quite funny.. ah man, showing my age now.

V8 as first car is a dream.

My first car was GM 1.0 Corsa. love it, and clean every part all weekend too...

My favorite was GM/opel Astra 2.0. my longest relationship ever, 10 Years. Best car ever.

We had Astra's here. I've always gone for commodores which I believe are buiks in the US? I have an SV6 Sports wagon currently. Actually goes harder than older model V8s and costs less on fuel.

Saving fuel is great!

First care was a jeep Grand Cherokee with a V8 and let me tell you I got in some trouble with that one. Speedometer went to 100 MPH, but I passed a car doing 120 MPH while the car was shaking apart.

Oh yeah, that would have been a bit of fun I'd say...And probably scary! 😁

there were no mobile phone cameras in 1986

Some 36 years have passed and you describe that experience in a very detailed way as if you had lived it yesterday. The brain really is amazing at storing the best moments.

So you were thirteen by that time? It's crazy to think you bought your first car by that time. I'm 18 and I'm nowhere near considering buying a car haha. What country do you live in or used to live in by that time? It's quite peculiar that you could consider buying a car with a little over $700 (I guess you had to spend over $1000 on her in the end). I say it's "peculiar" because currently I think that's impossible in first world countries, but in countries like Venezuela it's quite common to see obsolete (and not so obsolete) cars in that price range.

That's a pretty good history tho.

I was 13 when I started working and 16 when I bought this car, as per the text in the post above.

I was lucky to come across the car for that price although it was in very poor condition. I didn't mind though, she was my freedom machine and I have some very nice memories of being in her.

She is beautiful

Lol, I didn't realise you were talking about your car until the later part of the post!.. I already thought how lucky "the girl" was!

Haha, Well I like to have some fun at times and I thought this would be fun for me. I was right.

Hahaha..I like that.

OMG! At first I thought it was a female lover, the ending part explains it all. Nice write up

Haha, yeah just having some fun.

You make me wanna buy a car and find love, its hard to pick tho, I see alot of beautiful ones around, I often feel my pocket pulsating too..lool

You should, beats walking everywhere.

And changing shoes frequently...🤣🤣🤣🤣

You really enjoy your cars don't you XD

I can tell you all about the cars I've driven (from the tank-like black Mazda that my parents had from when I was still using a booster seat all the way through to my current ride) but it would not be with nearly as much fondness as this.

I think it's more about what the car does for me. With this one it provided freedom which, at the time, was required for various reasons. It's funny to think that only 15 months after getting this car I was out of home and living my own life. So yeah, not so much the vehicle, more what it provided.

Ease of movement is definitely a thing. I remember being restricted in rentals by what was near public transport because I didn't have a car and couldn't save up for one (long story there, but it didn't bother me too much because after getting access to a car it turns out I hate city driving anyway).

Who would have guessed your first was a beatle!
Yeah we never forget our first loves, hackles, breakdowns, sketchy driving experiences, but everyone starts somewhere. Awesome idea!
Amazing story telling, love reading yours, one of the best and im honored I found you out here :)
Lucky my first has been also a VW, didn't have a box motor, but was a diesel, one of cheapest running ones and lasted me 135k kilometers without any major repairs, all regular maintenence I mostly did myself, as well as poor rust repairs, and good memories, with roadtrips for ever!

glinokop 2.jpg
This happened after 1week of ownership, friends with enduros and getting stuck in a bit of mud, one of the reasons I now have a 4motion. :)

I've been stuck in mud with my 4x4's many times...Not a car...Never thankfully. Lol.

That's a cool photo and I wonder if there's a funny story attached to it? I remember getting so bogged once I had to call a mate for help. He turned up. Got bogged. It wasn't a good afternoon. Cold, pouring with rain and mud. So much mud. Everywhere. Lol.

Hahaa!
There are many, all turned out lucky and reliable. Yeah nature has it's tricks, everything happens for a reason.
I stay away from mud as I do want to use it for many many years to come. I do have a fair amount of fun in the snow though! :)

I've not driven in much snow, only very light snowfall. I think it would be fun. I'd like to do some ice driving too, like rally driving, with the spiked tyres and all.

One day my friend. :)
So your saying, you drove in desert as well ?

I've driven in the desert yes. Hot and dry.

Drop it like it's HOT!

I remembered my first girlfriend while reading your emotions. Btw first experiences are always special whether it's human or something dear to us which breaths or not.

I can relate my first PC with your one as I still haven't got a car or bike. But that potato PC (was a golden one back then) has given me the most joyful days of my life, I still remember the days of running through the roads of GTA or continuous firing while playing The House of the Dead. Having a high-end PC cant even replace those feelings, those are special and will always be dear to my heart.

I remember my first computer also, back in 1990. An Amiga 500. It had 512kb of memory...rather lame compared to these days.

These tiny memories are impossible to forget, golden ones.

Wow, first love I guess and it was a beautiful car atghat time
