Recenty I had received some comments and requests about delegations. This led me to finally make time to finalise a project which had been lying on the shelf almost too long. Originally I wanted to finish it before doing any delegations, but then some stuff came along and I just delegated some to a couple of projects. Thanks to those comments I picked it up and I am happy to have finished the v1 and introduce: Soliciting Power . com - a site dedicated to showcasing Steem projects worth considering delegating to.
Seeing the trending page being taken over by voting bots, most often loaded up with high delegation leases, I found it is time to shine a light on other projects, with maybe lower ROI on your Steem Power lending in terms of Steem/SBD kickbacks, but most certainly way better for your karma!
With SolicitingPower.com you can:
1 - View a growing selection of Steem projects open to receiving your (temporarily) delegation.
Per project you can view:
- current amount of delegated SP received
- reputation score
- description of the project
- what will be upvoted using your SP
- what will not be upvoted
- project maintainers
- official links (screenshot of external site, if applicable. Click on it for fullsize), community chat servers, twitter account.
- whether the project pays back a reward share (most of them don't and you will be a true philanthropist donating to them)
2 - Project Vote analysis:
Next to the project description and meta data the site queries the blockchain for an analysis of the recent projects votes' and does some calculations about them giving you a chance to draw your own conclusions. Don't be too harsh with conclusions :D !
- The votesample lets you know how many votes where used for the calculation
- avg voteweight is obvious amount of vote-weight used divided by total votes
- Selfvotes and teamvotes are displayed in 'vote weight' percentage, not in absolute numbers to give a more honest review. One can selfvote every own post with for example only 1% and community posts with 100% so this is IMHO a fairer metric.
- Uniqueness percentage means how many unique people received votes, the higher this number the more unique the vote distribution was. This number will get lower if the account tends to vote a lot for the same people.
- Below the key metrics you see an absolute vote count distribution chart. Please note that vote-weight is not taking into account in this distribution! If this should be vote-weighted averages too let me know! (I will experiment with it). Team members and the project username are highlighted in this overview.
3 - Instantly delegate to a project of your liking.
Clicking on a 'Delegate to this project' button opens the delegation modal. You will be asked to fill out your steem username and then the site calculates your current Steem power (vests) available for delegation. This calculation takes into consideration: Your current steempower minus already delegated minus an optional to be powered down and also always leaves 50 SP minimum security in your account.
- You can use the slider to slide to an appropriate amount of delegation or fill in a number in the field.
- After that, just click the Delegate button which will open a 'Steemconnect.com' interface in a new window with all data prefilled, waiting for you to sign with your active key.
4 - Find out about any users' delegation and delegate to anyone not (currently) listed on the site.
By going into the dropdown menu under $P (left top) and clicking the option 'Search User' you can find the current state of any register user on the blockchain. Once you click the user you will see a list of her/his current delegations and if the user is not the same as yourself, you can delegate to this user by clicking the 'Delegate' button.
5 - Poweruser tips:
Explore all projects quickly via listview.
Ok, a gallery view with the cards looks nice, but if you want quickly go over all projects and have some comparison, click the 'list'-icon in the top-right to switch to a tableview with all key metrics (sortable) about all projects currently on display on the site.Use keyboard arrows to browse through project details.
Once the project modal is open you can simply hit the LEFT and RIGHT arrow keys to browse through all projects listed.Save your username for recurring visits.
Using the site more often? Click on the 'user icon' (top right) to set your steem username with a (locally) stored cookie (valid for 100 days), which does nothing except just saving that piece of data (in your browser) for whenever you return to the site.
Checkout SolicitingPower.com and delegate some karma!
Missing a project?
Missing a project which should be listed on SolicitingPower.com? Redirect the project maintainer (if it is not you) to the site and submenu 'Submit project' to apply for a listing. Listing is not guaranteed.Disclaimers:
- Listings do not reflect my personal opinion
- Should any project misbehave please use the 'flag'-option on the sites listing or inform me
- When you delegate steempower you are essentially giving away that part of your 'power' to the delegatee. You acknowledge that you won't receive any benefits (curation rewards) from them, unless the receiving delegatee has a reward payback schedule in place. Delegated Steempower can be undone at any time by updating your delegation to the givin account to 0 SP / 0 Vests and will be return and available in your account again after a 7 day cooling down period.
I'm going to use SolicitingPower.com myself after the weekend to start some more delegations but first I'm off to London for the CryptoCurrency Show (saturday 14 april!) which was arranged by @starkerz and hosts a bunch of Steemians. Will be fun!
epic comment. humbled & honoured. thank you steembirds, cheers! 🍺🍺🍺
😎🍻😎
This is the best comment i ever saw on steemit! upvoted!!
We need to fix the Trending Page for sure. Great song @Steembirds
haha wow! nice song!!
Ha ha... great. Followed for more great tunes. Also going to subscribe on YouTube.
@steembirds rock!
EPIC :')
awesome @roelandp you are a good singer,i think that you are presented more song for us.thank you
Hi @roelandp thanks for coming to one of my post...even though it was 1% but glad to see bigger user do take care of the minnows......a sign of true mentor. Thanks. :)

Let's make #introduceyourself great again! - An update on @welcoming!
https://steemit.com/community/@theaustrianguy/let-s-make-introduceyourself-great-again-an-update-on-welcoming
You mean you want that to be listed on the SolicitingPower.com or? Please redirect the projectmaintainer of @sadkitten in that case to the form linked on the site > SP > menu > add Project.
BTW is was very hard to click the next arrow on mobile. It also seems like an inefficient browsing design when considering that in a few days there will be 100s of those listed.
ok, you don't necessarily have to click exactly on the arrow. About 15% of the side of your mobile screen is clickable / triggering the 'next' view.
Also there is an option to list in table view all entries:
you can use the top right 'toggle list view' to get a table with all projects currently listed. You can then sort that table by 'project name' and find it more easily.
If you have more suggestions about user interface I am all ears. This site imho is a way to discover new projects and learn about their existence. Hence the shuffling and gallery view.
I have to admit it might be a little less suited for mobile. I am open to ideas. Maybe a tinder like swiping feature?
Awesome!!! We have this brazilian project called @brazilians. Looks great for help we grow, i ll read everything about this great idea and make a submit of us project! Really nice! Thanks!
I love this idea! Very cool to see my delegations in one place:
Do you have plans to gamify it? Show a leader board for who is delegating the most SP to worthwhile projects?
thx luke. that could be something for sure. Thing is i'm currently (just) using default steemjs and that gives just per user results of delegator delegating to delegatees. AFAIK there is no 'get delegators' to list all people delegating to 1 project (or a list of worthwile projects). iaw I would need to loop all users (950K+) to get those results or use SteemSQL maybe.
Or I could have people 'signup' for the game and have them 'monitored' yeah. Let me give it some thoughts.
Maybe just something simple thrown into MySQL or even Redis and you could make it manually updated via users who visit the site and want refreshed data (so no cron jobs or massive nightly updates--individuals clicking a button to update their own stats). The users who sign up would then have a reason to come back and refresh their stats which creates sticky engagement, etc.
I really think gamification is a huge part of what Steemit/STEEM is missing to incentivize beneficial community behavior. I've liked @arcange's efforts with https://steemitboard.com/ and I hope we see more things like that. When it comes to human motivations, what is incentivized/gamified is what reproduces. We're seeing this with self-votes and voting bots. Instead of trying to fight that directly, we could create new, non-monetary incentives (community prestige, reputation, influence, conference speaking opportunities, promotional space, etc, etc) rewarded for those who bring value to the blockchain community (even value without a direct monetization). The cool part of that approach is it, ultimately over time, equates to monetary value by helping all STEEM holders and incentivizing behavior we as a community want over what is just good for the individual at the expense of the group.
Great project @roelandp
Thank you for including @thewritersblock
This is excellent @roelandp!
Thank you for drawing attention to the many projects that are a great alternative to bid-bots.
It's the work that these people and communities are doing which will make great things happen on the Steem Blockchain.
Let's hope Mr J Files has some of these in mind when his 1 million comes back from Smartsteem bid-bot in a few days.
Awesome! I have 6 of these projects on my delegations list now :D
Thank you for your delegation to #comedyopenmic, we hope to be your favourite delegatee :P. If you're up to it come join our discord server and you can keep up with the latest and greatest plans we've got brewing.
Your delegation to #comedyopenmic is greatly appreciated. Thank you and hope you'll come visit and have a laugh with us.
This is beyond exciting, @roelandp . The website looks great, and I am wowed by the amount of information you included about each project. As a Writers' Block admin, I'm grateful. As a user, I'm impressed as hell. Thank you for doing this!
Great work again roeland thankyou! I've submitted info for @centerlink and @openmic and poked the maintainers of several other projects I support to get them onboard :)
thx! will process new submissions tonight. just arrived @ london for londoncryptocurrencyshow.
Hey ABB, didn't know you were part of @openmic. I pinged @luzcypher a little while ago about the prospect of doing a @openmic / #comedyopenmic special round but didn't get a response back. Do you think that's something @openmic would be interested in doing?
Hayyyyy support me too, I would like to share my talent with more people reach more people. Could you support me ??? What can I do I do not want to win contests but share my music @ausbitbank
That's really cool. I was just writing about delegating and how it can help the Steemit platform. This makes it even easier. I've delegated over half my SP to projects and minnows.
cool! feel free to include this project in your post :) also, if you miss any community projects listed, please notify the maintainers or let me know so I can reach out. Lastly you can also use this site to delegate to any user beyond the listed projects (although you can also use @yabapmatt's tool for it.
If you want to delegate to any Steem user using SolicitingPower.com
I've been using @steem-plus recently for delegating. It's a shame this wasn't built into the site from the start as most people may not even realise they can do it. I hear you may be at the London Crypto Show, so I may see you tomorrow.
nice, see you then!
Thanks for the details on how to delegate. Because delegating is "temporary", it would be helpful to add to the list how a user can get/take his SP back.
Users may want to delegate to projects that are getting off the ground and keep rotating to maximize the amount of help they can provide in the community.
@roelandp
@steevc
In Steem Plus you just delete the delegation and your get the SP back after 7 days
Super nice, i am really enthousiastic as way up for steem is supporting all these projects.
Have been e.g. vip for ecotrain but omg, too much of my time to vote every nice post there. @eco-alex found a very nice solution with his bot where small % supports this amazing group, i am happy it is listed here.
Good move, hope people see the value of these kind of delegations.
Good job putting it together. You are missing Curie on the list. Could you add Curie if you find it fit to be on the list? Thank you.
yes i reached out to Curie past weeks but had not yet heard from them :) They should be listed yes :) The project maintainers will need to supply their listing. If you speak with any of them please let them know about the project as well. thanks GG!
This recent Curie post would go well as listing. Let me know If we need to supply with more information or fill out some form. Thanks.
https://steemit.com/curie/@curie/a-call-for-delegation
Update: ok I see now it should be submitted via the website.
ok will check out asap!
Hi @roelandp I have now officially applied on the website. I am the Curie community representative and would be happy to be your contact point if you have any questions. You are welcome to reply to me anywhere on Steem blockchain or you can reach me on Discord username @gnashster#6522
Cheers for the great initiative! - Carl
refresh!
Hey thanks, that was indeed a very fast review of our application! Nice to see Curie listed now :) Cheers - Carl
Hey sorry if I am missing some obvious way to edit the listing once it is up, but I can't see any way to do it. It looks like the Curie Discord link is broken. Can you replace it with: https://discord.gg/jQtWbfj
Thanks! Carl
done!
Looking very nice! We will be adding our page this weekend for @alldutchcreation ..
Have a good weekend!
Edit: Done! Please let me know if it's done correctly, because I can't see the our account on the site yet..
Wow really awesome job!
I really like that you put the metrics in showing the distribution of the votes etc. To me this is better than just displaying projects.
Really good job @roelandp!
thanks for the remark! I am happy to let you know this data is already available on the project details under 'Reward sharing' 'Yes/No'.
Having said that, rewards are one thing, but these projects are also about investing in your Karma Power :D
Nice!!!
Hahaha, true true. How about adding a karma measurer to it :P
Thank you @roelandp as always, great work. Your initiative will definitely help projects which in turn will benefit the whole ecosystem. Go steem!
@imageconomy is one good project, if anyone wants to check it out! We just posted our introduceyourself.
https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@imageconomy/imageconomy-official-launch
Cool project @roelandp! Thanks for putting it together!
For projects not listed on the website, I'm glad there is a way to submit them. But, listing them is another block to them.
Please can there be a search box to find projects?
So, other upcoming projects could benefit too.
Thanks for your suggestion. What do you want to search for? For now you can use the top right 'toggle list view' to get a table with all projects currently listed. You can then sort that table by 'project name' and find it more easily.
About adding a search: this project really meant for inspiration - getting to know new project. Nonetheless if you want to search for 'any' user on the Steem chain you can use the 'Search user' feature in the dropdown top left:
Yes! I noticed the search user menu. I tried searching for a project I know of, but, the results didn't come up.
I was thinking the project has to be registered first on "submit project" before it can be detected in the search bar. I hope I'm right?
I just directed someone to register his project for listing.
Thanks for this.
the 'Search user' just searches all users registered on the steem chain so if you where searching for a steem username it should show up minimumly :)
great that you fwd it! thx alex, have a nice weekend
Great initiative @roelandp ! It's Very good to see so many worthy projects on the https://solicitingpower.com website .. including my @ecoTrain project! Let's make delegations really make a difference!
Awsome articel will check out the projects.
Oh, pretty nice! Thanks, I only just found this. I will look into adding an entry soon.
Maybe you remember we met/spoke at the London CryptoCurrency Show? Anyway, I came to your profile today to find a way to let you know that you have a witness vote that is outdated - currently pointing to @steempty (Which is a dead witness and the owner advertised trying to sell their steem account). Of course, I would appreciate if you would consider voting for me - you can check out my original witness statement here. Cheers!
is steemit heaven?
Owl I think this is the light at the end of the tunnel that we all have been craving for regarding the use of voting bits and their prevailing effect on our tending page. With this awesome project, it will become easier for so many people who would live to delegate to other projects to identify and do so with so much ease. You really thought out of the box with this and to think that you started it a while ago and just felt the need to complete it now that it is most needed is cool. The steemit blockchain owes you one for this.
I will be resteeming this so that many people will get to know about this awesome project of yours...Thanks for sharing.
Wow! This looks absolutely brilliant. And idiot proof! I love the safety net feature with delegations. Looks like I have a new go-to tool for my delegation needs!
If anyone is suspicious of a project's voting pattern, I recommend asking the project how they do it. I know that over on the block, for example, our rule is that no members may suggest their own post for voting. So even when an admin's post is upvoted it's because others on the leader team believe it should be supported. Other projects likely have similar safeguards in place, so it's worth asking questions before making a decision!
Finally, I want to add my thanks for including The Writers' Block, my own "home" project. This site looks like an awesome project for the Steem community.
Yeah I know, it is merely pointing out votes, but by no means is a bad thing.
My apologies. Didn't mean to imply you were judging us. You said yourself people shouldn't be harsh. I didn't feel judged by you. I realized how it might look to others and that other projects might look unfairly suspicious. The stats are essential. But wanted to make sure other site users considered the possibility that admin votes weren't decided by the admin alone on projects before judging their voting patterns. If unsure, it's good to ask what system is used. I'm sure others have a process similar to ours. It felt wrong to our community to exclude active contributing members from benefitting from the community power, so we tried to set up a simple safeguard. I've manned the block account myself on occasion and hitting the upvote on my own feels creepy, but it's a signal from others in the community.
I wish steemauto had an "exclude self" option in curation trails as well, since that adds true self votes.
:D please dont aplogise... i did not feel offended, exactly what you say is what i meant but my english is not as expressive as I feel what i try to communicate haha :)
this is seriously one of the most useful projects ever made on steem, thank you @roelandp!
Great project and website! The amount of information and detail here is impressive, and the opportunity it gives for various groups to gain some delegated power is invaluable. On behalf of The Writers Block (@thewritersblock) and our writers and editors, thanks for adding us to the site!
Thanks for the add @roelandp .
Hey @Roelandp,
thanks so much for listing @Air-Clinic on the $P site.
Such beautiful designs and powerful concept.
We only hope that someone picks it up soon.
Gracias!
ARE YOU WONDERING WHAT @AIR-CLINIC IS ABOUT?
See Here
THANK YOU!
haha no need to use this post as 'advertisment' tho :)
Haha! We are just trying to get heard Sir. Its not easy to get heard especially in a busy world like the Steemiverse.
We are grateful for every exposure we get to support our passion!
Do a small summary then. Your current blurb is way to big ;)
Heyja! I really missed something like this on the Steem Blockchain!
The site is super simple and therefore perfect in my opinion.
Thanks also for adding this project, let's see if there are new supporters for this account!
Quick Project-Info:
This account is primarily intended to curate and share contributions on all possible LGBT topics. At the moment there are not many LGBT related posts and I want to change that with this account.
Posts under the tag #lgbt will be upvoted, provided that they have quality.
But since there is not much content to curate yet, I've started a kind of magazine, covering news and everything that is relevant to this topic.
Introduce-Post:
Introducing PRP-LGBT the Curation & Magazine Account for LGBT+ Content
This is a very neat project and very userfriendly. I'm digitally blond and even I understand it.
Thank you so much for listing @thewritersblock as well.
I just finished writing the exact thing in the post I'm making about this website, @tinypaleokitchen! LOLOL MIND MELD . It's true! The site is extremely well done and easy to navigate.
@roelandp - this form field validation rule is broken on the application form:
"Discord link should start with https://discordapp.com/invite" neither the app nor the website make invites that look anything at all like that.
It makes short links like this one for my @YouAreHOPE Foundation: https://discord.gg/zkTeKeS both on the web and in the app for desktops.
So no one can submit with a discord community listed, because the validation on the form prevents it.
@SirCork
Founder @YouAreHOPE Foundation
Founder @SteemStarNetwork
Member Team Witness #64 in partnership with @RhondaK of The Writer's Block & @Beanz of VOTU
Hi everyone can submit. I researched the discord links previously and for me it gave links like:
https://discordapp.com/invite/zkTeKeS :) I will loosen the validation ok!
let me know when you managed and sorry for the inconvenience.
listed project YouAreHOPE
Thanks, Roeland!
@youarehope is a VERY worthy project. The headway YAH has made in underdeveloped parts of the world is astounding. I hope to see it listed on the site very soon.
Thank you very much! We've done work in a dozen countries, and touched hundreds and hundreds of lives around the world since October, all thanks to the generosity of the Steem community at large, and the efforts of steemitizens like us, on the ground in these impoverished and disadvantaged locations.
It's very exciting to be a part of creating this blockchain transparent, steem exclusive, disruptive and innovative way of getting charity work done faster, for less overhead (essentially none) and with the pure voluntary support of a free minded society of steemians like you!
This is very nice and amazing project @roelandp
Oh, what a neat project. Thank you for this, and for having @thewritersblock listed!
This is an excellent tool, @roelandp! Thank you for your support of @thewritersblock, as well as other worthy projects!
Great project!!!!!!
This is an awesome project that can help people with large SP be able to choose projects and initiatives that is in line with their vision and advocacy that they care for.
With most of the delegations going to bid bots and voteselling this is a welcome initiative that shows that some people still care about the platform.
Kudos to you and making this.
I really like the part where the information is given on what the project does and the very detailed data on how the votes are being used is just awesome.
I took a look at the submit a project and may submit several communities and projects that I am part of in the future.
This is a tutorial site we can learn a lot through this site.
If we have to work beautifully on beautiful sites then we will improve.
Really amazing and very helpy project. Impressive lines you written and all is guideline for us. I appreciate and support your project solicitingpower.com and also best wishes for #londoncryptocurrencyshow.
Why not,, I fully supported you and witness you. My Vote of witness for you now.
this is a great way to take communities from different countries to get together and to talk and chat, and have fun and upvotes.
First of all I congratulate you for this change that you brought to Steem Ecosystem. Definitely something like this was needed for this ecosystem. I hope this will be a reason for us to see different posts on Trending part!
Thank you for your contribution, me personally I will be supporting this amazing project - https://solicitingpower.com ! Also I think it will help many content creators or project creators as you mentioned which we never heard of them before.
We have been waiting for your @roelandp posts for a long time. maybe this information can help us to do the right delegation.
Thank you
thanks
It is really good the way you are giving a good message to the world. I love this your idea. This content is more informative and educative about steem power. That's right decision you have, i fully agreed with you. always love to visit your post and Commented for your fair and supportive work. The post is looking like the consolidation is coming to an end. Could be a good time to pick some up. Good luck!
upvoted
This is one of the best ideas ever! I am going to head over to check this out! There should be some really cool projects worth reserving delegations!
Very nice work.
Always success.
Resteem post @acidyo nice
This an amazing article @roelandp thanks so much for sharing this. I can feel your enthusiasm to help this platform grow. Because of people like you who has so much passion to share and create awareness the growth of steemit will be surely achieve. I do have tons of projects that I wanna bring in to steemit and this guide will definitely help me.
You are such an inspiration to everyone. Keep it up.
great post, you did really pull it of. nice one Roel This is one of the best ideas ever!my dear friend @roelandp,Lets make delegations really make a difference, thanks for share,
This is another great idea for useful value added features to the steemit.com site. Did you ever have any luck on contacting the steemit.com site developers? I suggest you write a blog that summarises (briefly) all of the suggestions that you have proposed and want to take forwards)
Hi @roelandp ! Great initiative ! I checked all projects you are displaying and could not believe @steem-ambassador guild and #promo-steem was not there!
Here is a great infographic about #promo-steem created by @hungryhustle : #Promo-Steem and @Steem-Ambassador Project
I will let @starkerz @stephenkendal and @anarcotech know about this site you created for SP delegations, so we can add the Promo Steem project on the site.
Regards, @gold84
yes i know. they were very busy prepping the londoncryptocurrency show so they had not ime to supply their data yet. i met them all today at the event and they will be surely adding it somewhere this week and will then be listed, yes yes!
@roelandp.life for some london pics.
Great @roelandp ! I did not know you were there at the crypto show!
Regards, @gold84
@roelandp I forgot to ask you if you ever had the chance to check some of the 10 chapters full steemit guide I made for new visitors, minnows and new users to learn as fast and as much as possible about the steem blockchain and steemit:
[Completed!] Making Your Way on Steemit - A 10 Chapter Full Steem Guide for New Users - Minnows - Make their Way on the Steem Blockchain!
Looking forward to your thoughts when you get the chance!

Sir, as a newbie, i can't just understand some things which i know you could be in the best situation to give an answer. I am a writer, my posts are plagiarism free and educative, but the problem is; i've got no inspiration through comments and resteem from steemians. Maybe this could be a way to help a writer. With this platform (solicitingpower), how can i be helped? thanks looking forward to your response. Thanks
