Weekend-engagement topic week 37: Your job passion

in Weekend Experiences3 years ago

Has the G-dog gone stark raving mad this week? Seriously, thinking about work and jobs on a weekend? What madness is this?! It's true though folks, the #weekend-engagement topic is about jobs and work. I must have completely lost my mind.

I hope y'all have had a great week and have a good weekend planned too...No matter what you're doing I hope you also have a few moments to engage with the topic this week and share your response below.

This week's topic was inspired by @jaynie; We had a conversation relating to jobs a few days ago. We were talking about our current jobs but it made me consider what I might like to be doing instead. I'm not really feeling my job at the moment - It's not that I hate it, just that...It annoys me sometimes and gets in the way of life. So...A topic is born! Dankie @jaynie.

weekend-engagement topic week 37

You need to comment below 👇 with your answer and use 100 words or less - You can list anything in the world as your ideal job and it doesn't need to be a real job, just something you're passionate about doing and would be happy doing as your job. If that happens to be your current job that's ok too. Original im src.

If you would also like to do a separate post on the topic you can post it in THE WEEKEND community and use #weekend-engagement as your first tag. I curate there so will see it. But don't post links to external posts in the comments below, put your comments there!

My ideal job

I can list a few ideal jobs but I think travel blogger would be the number one thing - I love travelling and doing it for a job, getting paid to do so, would be aweseome. I have a desire to see everything and, whilst hive takes me around the world thought people's posts, there's nothing like traveling and experiencing the wonderment first hand. Faith and I have travelled around the world a lot but making it our jobs...Yeah, that's a job I could be passionate about!

That's this week's topic y'all, so get to it...Tell us about your ideal job in the comments below using 100 words or less and make sure you stay to engage with some of the others who comment - The relationships you begin hear could become very valuable in the future.

Have a good weekend folks; Stay safe and connected...And hive on.

Design and create your ideal life, don't live it by default - Tomorrow isn't promised.

That's such a tricky question because I have so many passions! 😁

Probably, on the first place would be as a travel blogger - I guess there is no surprise on this one. But thinking on the long term I'd probably always look back after my family and to return to the same place, my home, so I don't know for how long it would work out.

The 2nd one would be as a professional gamer or streamer - overall gaming was one of my first passion and it's incredible how many people are playing and others throwing up with money and donations just because they enjoy watching that person. However, I already tried this for like 4 times and always gave up because I'm an introvert and being watched by people makes me feel uncomfortable.

A 3rd passion and dream job would be also represented by graphic design - because I always loved art, starting with the boring drawings until I turned them into digital art and this is what I currently do as a freelancer, even if it doesn't work as I was hoping to.

There would be another 2 dream jobs but I guess I have too many passions and this reply would end up too long to be interesting anymore, so I'll stop here 🤣

You do graphics design, that's really cool. I love graphic designing but I have no knowledge of it. I don't have a PC. Most of the designs I do for the header of my blog is with the help of canva app.

Canva is a pretty useful app which saves a lot of time, but I cover almost any area which includes Photoshop and I started doing it since I was 11 y.o. or so. Unfortunately, I never ended up earning enough from it so I can make a living, but the hope will never die!

Smile... I love the hope you have... Have you tried advertising your work out to friends and relations. That's a really good way to bring your out. These close relatives would bring you referrals that would later come giving work to do. Then you tell them the fee you charge for their designs. @gabrielatravels

Tried that but it's a little bit more complicated. I just prefer not to get into details :)

Smile... Yeah.. I may not like to say I understand but I might actually know a bit of those complications involved in stuffs like this.

Ah, you could embrace your introvert part and name your channel something like... The Introvert Caster, or Playing With Introverts, IntroSpect Gaming, etc...

I'd probably always look back after my family and to return to the same place, my home, so I don't know for how long it would work out.

I shall reply to this one with...

But All The While I Sit And Think
Of Things That Were Before
I Listen For Returning Feet
And Voices At The Door
— Bilbo Baggins in Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R.Tolkien

That's actually a pretty good idea for a channel name :D

This is a hit and run but

"Not all who wander are lost." Gandalf the Grey

I would very much choose 'professional wanderer'.

I don't think we can never have too many passions and desires to pursue... It is finding new passions and setting new goals and keeps us all moving forward, is what makes us exciting and unique. I think all through your goals and passions are attainable With some training and effort.

I totally agree. But I honestly feel a little bit confused and distracted sometimes because I don't know where to push harder and where to leave it just as a passion :)

I like this comment, the new passions and goals keeps us moving forward theme.

I think a lot would choose travel blogger as their ideal job, I think it's a good first choice.

I have so many things I'd rather be doing than a company executive in the property sector although travelling means so much to me and I find it so rewarding that a job allowing me to travel, experience and write about it is the way to go.

I'm not surprised you have chosen travel blogger...Tell me though, which is the first place you would go, tomorrow, if you could?

!ENGAGE 15

It was pretty obvious that I'd say travel blogger haha. But uhm, your question definitely made me think for a while. However is really hard to say just one place so I may cheat with my answer and say anywhere I've never been yet. Literally any new place, no matter if it's in my country or abroad. :)

 3 years ago (edited)

I wonder why it's so difficult for people to choose just one thing?

So, I'll ask you this...If I was paying for a trip for you and you had to pack tonight and leave tomorrow where would you go? Anywhere, isn't an answer as I have to send you a plane ticket...

Haha, that makes sense now :D then the answer would be Australia :P

Ah yes! The land where EVERYTHING!!! wants to kill you...

There are however such a vast and diverse range of very different cultural differences and terrains it would be a cool place to go if you had an extended amount of time to explore several of them.

@gabrielatravels I have zero doubt you would relay all of these aspects beautifully in your posts. 😎

Time will always be a problem unfortunately, it's just up to you how to split it so you have time to do a little bit for every passion you have. But thank you so much for the nice words and support 😌

Some things don't want to kill you, just hurt you real bad.

Hmmm ever the optimist, I need that 'sunshiney' disposition!

And that would be a very good answer! 😁

I wouldxwant to go to Myanmar! The temples, the people... still unspoiled by the Western world.

Thankbyou in advance, @galenkp!

Absolutely! I already got a State Department warning.

I no longer go where there may ve trouble. Okder and wiser. Thank you!

There's a whole world outside of Venezuela, and I wonder...If you could go anywhere what location would you choose?

I have many passions too especially the same passion with your number 1 and 3 dear :)

Oh, welcome to the club! 😌❤️

In all honesty you'd have the personality to 'get it done' I think. There is a woman here who is famous in Arizona but not too much outside our borders. She does a weekly hour on 3 or 4 places in Arizona sponsored by "Arizona Highways" magazine.

I could see you as 'The Romanian Rambler' or something like it.

That's at least interesting. Unfortunately I will encounter the same problem fighting with the wall every introvert sees. I guess it's just a matter of time until I'll manage to break it and live free 😣

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I like all your options, and the third one you can take advantage of simultaneously with the other two, it gives you a lot of advantage to have those design tools in this digital world.

Oh yeah, they definitely can become a mix of everything with a little imagination and effort :)

I have to agree with @miriannalis as by juggling all 3( in an ideal world) you'd stay fresh with them all. Having to do only one might become a chore eventually and as @miriannalis said they compliment one another also. Great choices though :)

Hehe, thank you so much! It's really nice seeing people connect with your passions ❤️

Drawing for a living would be awesome. I am also more of an introvert and I can see how this can be uncomfortable if you have to deal with people for too long. I hope that at least one of your dreams will come true!

Thanks so much for your understanding and awesome thoughts!

Oh dear I fear that if that was how I earned my living I would starve FAST! 😁

Hahahah I get you, this is why is harder for the hippie artists

As it can be now in the reply to my reply, you could write now your dream job number 4 and 5 :)

I like your first and third pick :)

Btw, we have almost the same name hehehhe 🤗 if your name matches the beginning of your username

Haha. I could try to share these too if you are interested, why not ☺️

My 4th one is as a cooking vlogger - because I love cooking and trying new things which I have in mind that often end up pretty tasty. However I don't see myself working in a kitchen or restaurant so that's why I would love to do this in online. But the competition is really big in my country and I have to come with a really unique format to be different than the others.

The 5th one would be as a floral designer - because I love flowers and mixing them together. I have imagination and I know I could arrange some really nice stuff with them, but I guess I have the same problem with the 4th passion because of the competition.

And yes, just as you said, the first part of the username represents my name which is Gabriela 😀

Ohhhhhh. I do have a friend that made his living (later in his life) as a cooking specialist at outdoor shows. He'd been a big time Chef in Miami, living the dream. Then his only child died and his marriage fell completely apart. He did what anyone would do. Bought a BMW motorcycle with side car, adopted a battered Pit Bull pup and hit the road. He bobbled around the East for a little while but once he crossed the Mississippi he never went back.

http://theoasisofmysoul.com/

Obviously, he is an epic photographer (his hobby as a Chef), has written a couple of books, and gets along just fine. You could DO it!

That's a full life which learns you a lot of lessons and you can easily write books to help the others strugling with the same problem. But I can't wait to do this step and succeed ❤️

Ari is one of the coolest guys I've ever met. He's one of those people that has lived a quietly epic life. I consider him a friend, and he has literally thousands more just like me.

Both are nice ones. Cooking vlogger! I am amazed by the work of some of them, the quality of the photos, videos, the story around it. Although not all of them are superb, hahaha. Yes, it would have to be something original to stand out among those already good ones.

This last is the cutest of all. Floral Designer 😃

Look, when in my dreams I achieve that travelling pianist/minstrel job, you could come with me, so could have material for travel blogs, you could design the concert posters, there would be plenty of different food from other countries for the best cooking vlogger and of course, the people would by flower arrangements from you for the musicians of the orchestra.

The name of our "business" could be Unstoppable Gabs or Gabrys' creative attacks

😁

Haha, you rock girl! You made my day with this comment 😁

Sounds like a plan already! And I totally love that name!!! 🥰

Hehehe we have to brand it 🤣

Which one, the first or the second option? 😅

I really like Unstoppable Gabs 🥰

There's lots of dreams, it's best to have more than one I think!

Yeah.. I guess ☺️

Well, graphic design is quite a broad and creative area, too bad that talents like that are not so valued, only a few. I'm an amateur designer, I do my best even if sometimes it doesn't come out so well. 😅

You are right. And there are just plenty of people trying to do the same thing and there will always be lots of competitors. I find it really hard to succeed and get in front of the others even though maybe you are more creative than them. 😔

I like the first two! And here's an idea; I think you can COMBINE them!
How about blogging/vlogging while you travel the world to join professional gaming tournaments... Or you could meet up with other gamers, vlog behind the scenes and stream co-op games... I think that could be a fresh take on both choices.

Also what kind of games do you play?

That's actually something that I'm currently trying to build. Today I did my first steps creating a new email, YouTube channel, and logo for the streaming part. I still have lots to set up but the first steps are the hardest hehe 😌

I play mostly csgo. But I have installed the crew, euro truck simulator, American truck simulator, and NFS. My first love where story based games but my pc is pretty old and can't run these very well and that's why I focus on older games 😖

Hi @galenkp! This is an interesting topic, as always. Is it okay if I talk about more than one job I am passionate about?

First, if I had the opportunity I would want to be an actress! I am passionate about acting. I love it. All through school and in church, I was active in drama clubs and programs. But my parents wouldn't let me study it in school, hahaha. Something about 'good girls' don't go into such careers.

Still, when I watch more movies, I fancy myself acting certain parts and likely doing it better than the professionals. Imagine that! 😆

Another career I am passionate about and wished I had engaged in when I was younger is tailoring/fashion designer. When I was a teenager, I was allowed to spend time at a family friend's tailoring shop to train. After some weeks, she moved and I couldn't go further. I was told to focus on my studies.

I see designer suits and wish I had finished my training or gotten more encouragement to go further so I could sew those suits. Don't know if I could still train for it now...my head is filled with so many things! 😄

Smile.. True.. Good girls don't do acting. That's what they say here.

My mum used to be a fashion designer but now she sews for only herself and sometimes for the family.

Acting sounds fun! I think it's worth persuing if you really like it. What would you like to act in? Are we talking Broadway musical types, series or movies?

I think series! That's because I get to act the same part again and again and I think they earn more than movies. ☺️

Oké follow up question! What kind of series are we talking? Action? Drama? Emotional stuff?

Oh yeah, an actor seems like a good dream job...Who doesn't like to be someone else for a time?!

I wasn't the most active in drama class although I had a crush on one of my drama teachers, grade nine...She talked me into getting involved with the school play done annually...Of course I was doing it so I could fixate on her for longer...I was magnificent though, in the play I mean...I was a cactus and I'll tell you what, a better cactus-actor there has never been! 😂

I hope you manage to pursue your acting and make your dream job happen!

Thanks for having a crack this week, I appreciate that you come by and thrown down each week. Nice work!

!ENGAGE 15

A crush on your drama teacher? 😂 Now why am I not surprised? Of course, you would be a better cactus-actor! 😄

Hm, don't know if I can still pursue it as a career but will keep acting in small ways like in church or for any project.

Always a pleasure to be here. Wish you a happy weekend ahead sir. 🍀

She was pretty sexy...Ten years older than me but I wouldn't have let that get in the way. Alas, it wasn't to be. 😆

I'm telling you, I was the best cactus-actor there ever was. I stood there. And stood there. And stood there...Like a cactus. I was so cactusy that even a cactus wold have mistaken me for a cactus. I'm talking cactusy!

Have a good weekend...I'll be doing my utmost to ensure I do also.

Omg! 😂🤣🤣🤣 I'm laughing so hard and colleagues at work are wondering if I am okay! I can't imagine being cactusy! 😂

Being cactusy isn't something that just happens overnight; It takes great skill, patience and dedication. It's not for the faint-hearted...I think that's why my drama teacher asked me to do it...She knew that inside the odd little brownish boy called G-dog was the heart of a cactus...And she was right.

I have had people ask me about being cactusy, wanting to emulate my cactusicity, but they have all failed...One is either cactusy or one is not cactusy...There is no middle ground. The art of cactusology is not one easily learned.

So. Does part of being a cactus involve being a prick? You know, the act of pricking with your spines. :)

Just wonderin'.

The reviews said they'd never seen a spikier performance... Galen is both believable, succulent and dangerous!

The thought that we do not have video evidence of this causes a palpable disappointment in me that I may never overcome!

Who knew a hot teacher could inspire such dedication to a character?😁

The critics said things like:

...performance was on point.

...acts at the sharp end of the scale.

...prickly demeanor, but sensational actor.

One said...

...what a prick!

He was probably correct.

Miss Curtis...I wouldn't have minded some method acting with her. 😁

Oh Jeez! I see the pun war is on.

At least no-one could ever accuse an upstanding guy like you of having no spine. If we did, you'd have cactus to the kerb as you always cactus what you preach.

Oh please, no... Make it stop. I am deeply sorry!

Always staying back at school late, aiming for the extra credit hehe.😉

Cactus what you preach! 🤣

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

You could totally pursue acting doing YouTube channels or posting videos on something, perhaps you could do a video channel where you talk about new crazy fashion trends in the style of a fashion guru?

Great idea @jacuzzi! I never thought of that before, means I'd have to put a team together and act something. But I'm working on my vlogging skills after taking a course on it. Working on some ideas. 🙂

When's the last time you put something together with a needle and thread @kemmyb?

Hi @dandays. That's would be some few days ago when I noticed a button fell off my dress. Usually I'm good at stitching up tears, buttons, fixing zippers and little sewing on clothing. That's about it. It's from the little I learned then before my family friend moved.

Aaaw I can imagine that passion burning inside you every time you are in front of a good series or enjoying a good movie. Although if you're good, it's never too late to exploit your talents.

You are right! It's never too late though I believe one should start young, to explore one's talents and passion. Now I'm so busy with life I doubt I'd give it a try. But... Never say never eh? 😄

Oh well in that sense yes, time is no longer the same as it was when I was young and the energy also changes. But one never knows what destiny, or God (as I say) has in store for us.

Being an actress is really interesting passion :) Something about 'good girls' don't go into such careers I get what you mean..!! 😀 Still not too late to be a tailoring designer if you nurture and want to train with it, right? ☺️

Yeah, acting would be cool, wouldn't it? I'll bet you'd do well at it!

My first ex was an artist and worked quite a little in fabric. She also designed and made clothing. It was impressive to say the least. I think that is something you could do a little at a time. Pick up a piece here and another there...

I hope there is somewhere local you could try your hand at acting, even as a hobby (I used to do this too). I think that bringing joy and entertainment through others through performance is an amazing thing to do.

Is it possible to fill the gaps in design through online videos and blogs? If you have a passion for it, go find a way, you deserve to let yourself try. Having a head filled with many things is much better than an empty head, right? 😎

Invest in yourself and keep dreaming. Best of luck 👍

Hola me encanta la actuación logra interpretar diversos personajes, experimentar sus vivencias emociones y acciones en determinado logRar o epoca es magnífico. Se requiere una gran pasion y entrega.

Your dream job number one would be travel blogger? Sounds exciting indeed, you are already showing high quality travel posts, so why not!?
And as I see, many would do that. :)

I like traveling also, who don't? But for a job, I like what I am doing now. Not that it is giving much bread to the table currently, but it was my first dream already as a child (you suppose I didn't have your piano teacher in my first years)

But imagine that everything is normal in the world. And I could "improve" a bit my skills...than I would like to be a traveling pianist, work with some orchestras and composers and play their music around the globe.

Maybe there are more than 100 words in my comment..sorry 🙏 😇

If I didn't know any better I'd say you wrote that in a G minor. Very smooth key stroke you got there @mipiano.

<3

G minor with a modulation to the relative major key of B flat major, and back to minor... a few times :-)

Ah, yes! Modulation. I was thinking arpeggiator. Silly me.

I'm going to interpret your dream job as travelling minstrel instead of travelling pianist just because I can and I think it would have been an exciting job back in the day.

Minstrels were highly regarded hundreds of years ago and were largely free to move about untroubled and welcomed to towns and villages all over the place. They brought happiness and joy to people's lives and bards in particular used to pass down valuable stories from one place to the next which kept people informed. It started legends and myth.

Anyway, a good dream job, in any era, so thanks for joining in.

!ENGAGE 15

Oh no, now you have found out my real age. To come from the Middle Ages, actually :D

Not a bad variation od my initial dream, sounds more interesting. But I remember, when we had countless kinds of music histories, that I didn’t like this lesson about minstrels. They were represented as jugglers, acrobats, musicians and fools. That last was so out of my acceptance, I don't know why. I mean, does the occidental music owes its development to fools? hahaha. It just couldn't fit in my head those days back in time 🤣

We're all fools, every human, at some stage in our lives. We act foolishly and think foolishly...But that's just human nature.

Very clear now... It was not clear during my school days :D

That's true...My school days...Not much was clear other than the fact I didn't want to be there!

We have a legendary (and very popular) guy around here. Kokopelli. Called a fertility deity by anthropologists, the Hopi knew him as a traveling entertainer. The images have been very modernized today, but here's an original:

image.png

I think you'd make a great wandering musician if you could just find someone to tote your piano around!

Hahaha, I would have maybe to change the instrument? So some smaller one :-)

If I was this guy I'd make my name: G-dogopelli.

There has already been too much ENGAGE today.

Hmmm... I think you have stumbled across one of those pesky life rules, that many live an entire life without discovering.

To do something that causes enjoyment but doesn't make so much money is often, far better than the alternative.

I like what I am doing now. Not that it is giving much bread to the table currently, but it was my first dream already as a child

In many ways that sounds like success to me! 😃

Thank you @stevenwood

I indeed wanted to become a piano teacher and pianist from almost the first day I started to attend piano lessons. I knew that it was the profession for me 🎶😇 Never stepped back in my wish to achieve it.

Dream job??? Definitely a travel blogger! I stack my time where I am now and get copious amounts of time off, so I have been taking a vacation on top of vacation. And I love taking pictures about these exciting places. You have to do it immediately, so you don't lose that first ah-ha moment that is so exciting. I love doing things that push the adrenaline and I want to do them all now! :))

Now, If I can't do that, I love my job too. I work in healthcare and I wouldn't trade it for anything right at the moment, but, there is always another year when it is not so needed. Right?

I can see it now! Flowers of the World by Denise! It'd work.

Seriously, I think your photographic and writing ability could make that work big time.

Yes!! :) I love flowers and travel! Now all we need to do is make it work! I like the way you think!

Good morning, Tom! @bigtom13

I really think you could pull it off just fine! I'm very pragmatic, after all... 😀

One day you're going to wake up and find you tagged in it! Good morning, Mr Tom

So your dream job is travel blogger and your current dream job is what you do now? I like my job now too, but if I could be a travel blogger full time and travel the world I'd leave it in a shot! I'd even leave my favourite coffee cup there for them to remember me...They wouldn't be able to see me for the dust I kicked up as I ran away to travel blog!

Good dream job, travel blogging, I hope it happens for you.

Thanks for getting involved this week, I appreciate it.

!ENGAGE 15

@galenkp Because I am in healthcare, this year has been the best in helping mankind and worse for what is happening. I wouldn't trade it for anything, but, it leaves me no time, working nights, and no time for engaging. :(( I am happy to get a post out.

Not complaining, just saying that not being involved is out of my hands right now... but, I am still here! :) This is a pretty nice thing you got going on!

It's good that you like your job as it must be terrible for those who do not, but have to show up every day and do it regardless. Seems wasteful to me. Still, billions do it.

People's jobs can become very important to them I think; Not always, but for some. I'm more of a life-engager myself and would throw in work in a second to have the chance to engage more with my own life and passions. My work feeds my life, not the other way around. It doesn't mean I don't like my job though, just that it doesn't define me.

The pretty nice thing comment refers to the #weekend-engagement I assume. It started small and gained traction and so I continue to do it each week; People tend to like it.

It's interesting though, so many who used to engage here dropped off, some off the platform altogether. I looked at a few only last week and they're still on hive and struggling to gain traction, don't comment much, and probably don't enjoy themselves? I do this to help people engage and interact...But I can't do it for them. It's a. Joice I suppose. Those that want to be here will be.

Thanks for your comments.

Hmm. You are a hero saving lives in your way... Been a travel blogger sounds nice. You would also keep feeding us with cloud pictures of different places.

You can totally start to be a travel blogger in your own town, just are traveling around to local landmarks community or in your state, document the process of going there and talking about what it's about... Travel blogging is know about exotic locations, it's about documenting the awesomeness that is about us every day.

I do that now. :) You are right, it may not be new to me, but, others? Could be!

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Thank you for the engage tokens @galenkp

I have had many jobs already, I worked in movies as a Video special effects artist, Working computer games as a concept artist at the 3D modeler and animator, I started and ran my own circus and was the ringmaster, fire artist, still Walker, jugular and more, I do travel blogging, and day trade cryptocurrency, Not to mention teaching Martial arts and photography... Had a lot of unique jobs.

If I could do any job in the world however, I would like to be a philanthropist. I would love to have a business behind me with enough capital, so that I can travel the world and find unique people with ideas and invest into them to build up their company and ideas.

I really like helping people , And if I can help people make a living and grow the business doing what they love, I think this would make me feel fulfilled. :)

Helping people would be a good dream job and philanthropic work even better! This is a good dream job and G-dog approves.

What sort of business do you think you'd want backing your philanthropy? It seems you've had a lot of jobs so may have some good options. Any ideas?

Thanks for being involved this week, I appreciate it.

!ENGAGE 15

There has already been too much ENGAGE today.

dude you should write a book bro. All those cool things then casually " I started and ran my own circus" awesome! So I reckon first write a book then when martial arts circus ringmaster becomes a best seller you sell the movie rights and become a philanthropist. What say you?

Hello Tim, glad to see you roaming around here this weekend. You know, you're one of talented people I've met. I'm admired of you that you can do everything and many things at thhe same time. You are rock man !!!

100 words, huh? Damn you know I handle such constraints badly! 🤦‍♂️😂

Oh hang, on you're not counting this bit? This is the intro to the 100ish words!

I have so, so many things I would love to try my hand at but I am looking in to ways of creating a real difference to the lives of others in a tangible way. I want to be a professional 'empowerer' (ah crap, I made up another word). I don't care in what area of people's lives. I am working on some free resources for those in financial trouble for a local charity right now. I would love a chance to help people drastically improve their health and wealth too and especially mentoring those without self-esteem and confidence to reach for what they really want.

In many ways I already do this as a personal vocation but the idea of it being my job... WOW!
Nice and vague, I guess, but I am investigating options for a post lockdown Britain where I can be of more utility to others. with another 12000 words I could elaborate, but you get my point haha. 😎

Happy weekend G-dog and WE'ers. I am enjoying a slow-paced Sunday right now, life is good.

I'm with you, I was near the 100 words during my explanation of less than 100 words, too.

This is a good ideal job... Empowering people is a little different to influencing them...It delves within them, finds whats there and helps bring it out...Self-respect or esteem for instance. It can't be taught, it has to be created by the individual...In my humble opinion. Empowering people to do so would be a nice vocation I think.

Well done...Also, thanks for not writing 38,000 words. 🥴

So let me be really honest. I loved my job as an equipment mechanic, I got to put my hands on some seriously exotic machinery and I really liked the diagnosis of problems.

But had I been able to make a decent living at it I'd have been a farmer for life. The tempo and the doing suited me well. I love being outside when the weather is fair and I'm ok with long hours. I'm also very ok with alone.

Note that equipment mechanic is part of the description of farmer. Or at least can be.

I used to be a farmer many times when I was in New Zeland. And you know I love it, wish I could come back to NZ to be a happy and sexy woman on the farm. 😀😄 Or if I could make it to OZ this year I will go to pick cherries and blueberries 😅🤣

The sad thing here is Tom, that the next generation don't want to work the land. Too hard or not glamorous enough? I'm not sure, but so many farms pass out of family ownership and into corporate (often foreign) hands then imported workers on 457-visas come along and that's all she wrote.

I think it's sad as the life can be rewarding and enjoyable.

I'm sure you would have loved the life, bit ended up loving the one you had anyway.

Thanks for dropping in.

!ENGAGE 15

Where I grew up there are next generation farmers, but less every generation. Equipment is bigger and smarter, one guy can farm a hell of a lot of ground so they do.

I just wished happy birthday to a friend from the olden days. He's still farming his place (I have a real hard time imagining the place with out him) and I don't know what his exit plan is. His daughter isn't interested, I know. He has a step daughter that just graduated HS (His first wife died) and she might be, though she was really successful in future business leaders in HS (her team took 2nd place in the nation).

He doesn't have a nephew or a cousins kid, either. I'll have to ask him.

It's all changed so much these days. Advancements in technology, corporations (and countries) buying out farms, climate change, financial pressures and the cost of doing business...It's not easy for the farmers here, and I assume the same elsewhere. Most have to diversify or die out. For instance, the introduction of different stock, dorper sheep as opposed to more traditional types...Different feeds also...We have *saltbush-fed lamb here...Makes use of a plant that grows wildly in certain areas and flavours the meat.

http://www.saltbushlamb.com.au/

Oldman Saltbush is a very drought resistant and long living in the harsh Australian Outback Environment. Its incredible deep root system allows the plant to access moisture from far beneath the surface where it can access many trace minerals and also help to reduce soil salinity levels by drawing salts through the root system and dispersing it on the leaves of the plant. Helping to regenerate previously unproductive farm land.

The protein-rich forage and high mineral content of Oldman Saltbush gives the meat a very clean, crisp, lean and delicious flavour, a unique characteristic resulting from the animals grazing on these native shrubs. As animals are also grazing from up off the ground, they avoid traditional parasites often associated with grass land grazing. They require no drenching, worming, mulesing and are a very fit and healthy animal.

Oldman Saltbush is well suited to Australia's low and erratic rainfall conditions. The plant also reduces soil salinity and provides sustainable grazing for sheep all year round. This sustainable farming method aids farmers in surviving harsh drought times, stabilises grazing lands and promotes the growth of our native grasses and wildlife. Plantation Oldman saltbush acts as a catalyst, in conjunction with holistic land management practices, to revive soils degraded by unsuitable grazing and cropping practices.

Just one example. I have mates that run different crops than twenty years ago, run stock or have added in eco-tourism just to make ends meet. But that doesn't negate the issue of future generations not wanting to be there.

Sorry, fairly long comment. (Hopefully your mate works out an exit plan. Sounds like the lass is a good option.)

I’d love to be a model. Like a super model who flies first class and there is always a car picking me up and taking me places. Not having to arrange anything myself and just show up to a shoot where professionals make me up and then I can go live in a fantasy in front of the camera 😁

”100 words or less”. I used to love writing esseys in English at school because the word count fills up soooo fast. I usually wrote mine at the start of the class when the essey was due, there was always a good 10-15 minutes of commotion so the teach never noticed.

Hmm, this would be a good job...But don't those people only eat celery? Hmm, leshit.

Models: Legit
Models diet: Leshit.

You did well to keep to the 100 word limit Eve, you can go to the top of the class.

Also, writing your essay on the morning it was due. Gold! You seem a quick study though and are pretty good with English, so clearly it worked!

!ENGAGE 15

Ahahahahaha. I am eating celery every single day right now. I'd rather be a fat guy model I'm pretty sure.

Celery isn't the most glamorous food I guess, but if one has inflammatory issues it's good to reduce the symptoms...Just have to eat a truck load is all.

Eat a stick a day Tom, nothing else, and you'll be a supermodel in no time.

I eat more calories than a stick of celery when I smell what ever I'm cooking. Just sayin'

I don't have inflammatory issues, just fat ones. I'm just now drinking breakfast. Vegetable juice. Carrots and celery and spinach and lemon and apple and a tomato today. It's OK. In a funny sort of way.

I drink breakfast most days, and I don't mean coffee...I have a protein shake of some description for breakfast usually. Sundays...Cooked breakfast. Seems to work for me. Better than celery. Lol.

There has already been too much ENGAGE today.

this would probably make your life easier. But at the same time I think that you would lose part of yourself. I am sure that in the world there are many girls who look great in front of the camera. But I think that most of them are only fulfilling vision of someone else. This also means that they are more replasible. You are different from them because you do the shooting, modeling, makeup, (un)dressing, editing...I think that this means that you put more of yourself into your photos. Besides you have been doing this for years. Are you sure that you would like to change your life style so much?

I could see that being fun for a bit, yes... But day in and day out, having all your needs taken care of, Really making no decisions, but have to deal With the stress of maintaining a figure... I could see it being a hard life, but still fun!

me too but I have a perfect face for radio hehe

Ahahahahahah. And the body, too.

chortle, fair comment though, :)

Oh no! That came off bad. I was talking about my body and face! Your body is a LOT better than mine. Unless we are talking volume.

lol I've not been exercising so radio body it is :)

So your ideal job is to be a teacher, and you are a teacher. That means you're doing you ideal job, so well done!

I wonder what you teach, are you able to enlighten me? My guess is mathematics.

Thanks for for joining in this week, I appreciate it.

Oh yeah, now I remember, disabled kids...My apology, I actually knew that but forgot. I talk to so many people here it's difficult to keep up at times.

Excelente, me gusta que seas tan atento y crees empatía con todos... Eres una persona genial... Por eso te va muy bien

Thank you for your kind words. I try to do my best although probably fall short at times. I'm pleased we have connected and look forward to seeing you around on the #weekend-engagement topic each week.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

What would be the ideal job?

We should do our jobs with love, and I think we should like what we do, that is fundamental in our working life. Love what we do. My ideal job is cooking and baking, I dreamed of being a Chef by profession, but in reality, my culinary passion I develop only with my family, and not in a working way. Although it is my passion, why?
Simply because cooking is an art that is done with love and is the most sincere way to show someone how much you love them.
'.

I'd say many people share your passion for cooking and would be happy to do it for a job...I think it has something to do with creating, and also providing for others. I'm not a very good cook but when we have friends over we prepare food together, a BBQ, home made pizza's and things like that, and the act of preparing it all then eating together feels very rewarding.

Thanks for joining in this week.

What, you didn't go accountancy? I thought I had you talked into it by now??

I would definitely opt for being an artist; a photographer, writer, artist...something where I could pursue a skillset full time that leads to better paintings and photographs. Maybe we'll all get a chance for that full-time dream with crypto sooner rather than later?

 3 years ago (edited)

If crypto comes good I'm going to invest all of mine into learning how to be an accountant...Who wouldn't! 😀

Ok, that's not happening.

I like your more creative ideas, the writer, artist thing. Nice. I think most would like to do something creative like that...I mean travelling is my thing, but I love writing and so I'd want to do that too...Travel writer makes sense.

Let's just hope our crypto works out and I'll come over your way and we can chat about it over a beer whilst stargazing.

!ENGAGE 15

that sounds good to me! Get ready for some tasty Iowa IPAs to help watch those stars. Ane when your travel blog takes off for the stars, I have plenty of interesting spots to send you guys to over here for some epic photo shots/epic food experiences, and some other cool tidbits in the Mississippi Valley region. I mean, kayaking something called the Kickapoo in and of itself is like a week work of fun content!

I've heard of poo hitting the fan, and in those situations one really wants to be well out of the way...But kicking poo? Sounds intriguing. Well, not really...But you mention kayaking Kickapoo River in Wisconsin? Yeah, G-dog could do that! I'm sure there's be some good stuff to learn about the Kickapoo Indians along the way, culture and the old ways, and that I'd gain a lot of content from it...Although, I'm only going if my accountant mate from WI comes with.

I'm sure there's loads of cool places there and that you'll point me in the right direction...But we'd have to get together, have a few cook-outs, drink some brews and talk them over for a few times...Maybe even do so whilst star-watching.

It's definitely got the name, right? It's all Liza could say over and over the first time we visited it and laughed non stop. It's actually considered to be one of the most ancient waterways in the world, as the glaciers didn't run it over. It's also fun to suck a few beers on while floating down!

Your plan sounds like a good one! I'm in!

It's a cool name for sure! It actually gives me an idea for a #weekend-engagement topic...Funniest or most unusual place name.

That's cool about the river...It's not something I've thought about before but yeah, the ice age would have wiped out so many ancient features around the globe. The ice swept over the UK basically wiping it clean and depositing earth and rocks from other places for instance...Interesting stuff really.

Tell Liza, kickapoo from the old G-dog!

I think my dream job would definitely be a YouTube for lack of a better term, personality that lets me do things of a survival nature with the little man and get to play with him all the time and get paid to do it lol. There’s some families that do it so the market is saturated but it would be fun to go to areas and learn the land and stuff with the little man and wife. One of our favorites is called the Adventure Agents. They do really fun looking stuff all the time!

This is my style...Although it would be better to just not have to work and live that life regardless. I'd be more than happy to withdraw from society, into the wilderness, or some very small location, and just live my life out. I'd have hive to keep me connected, Faith and Cleo to keep me company and my life to live as I chose to live it...Ok, if I could get paid to do that fine, but I'd probably choose to do it regardless.

Wouldn't it be cool to just live like that?

I've seen a few of those people that do what you're saying here and it looks so cool. I guess you could always work towards it on a smaller scale right? I mean, I get the feeling your sort of doing that now anyway in a small way.

!ENGAGE 15

Oh Youtube!!! Let's start it now☺️😊...I will come by your channel and subscribe it !!!

Haha not yet, we need to have some space to do it! Hopefully this year we can get a place where we can do it. We have started putting things into place to do it so we are hoping it pans out!

Do it. Do it. Do it dude!

I recently bought a decent camera and a couple of ring-lights and a mic, for youngest bought me the book 'YouTube secrets' and a lapel mic for Christmas, my partner bought me another bigger ring light and I am 100% starting a channel this year.

I'm gonna try out some video content for my Hive blogs first to try and get used to being on camera and trying to be natural.

I have followed so many channels on YT growth and watched their vids from day 1 to now to see them evolve.

It's a no brainer man, I would watch everything you create. I believe that niche will face a major resurgence soon too. Don't look back, it can be built slow so need not interfere with your life in the early days.

I have been doing IT support in various forms for the last 30 years and after a 2 year search I start doing IT support Monday morning for a small growing company. I walked out of the interview with a very great feeling, that this was a JOB I would very much enjoy and boom they offered me the position the next week, but due to covid lockdowns could not start until next week.

I have always enjoyed IT support and have been told I was effective at it, so I continue. 😀

I remember you securing this job and how pleased you were with the overall tone of the place. It's good to be a little excited and happy about one's work place...It makes for a more enjoyable time at work and that spills over into the rest of life. Misery has a way of permeating all aspects of a person's life, as does happiness.

I wish you all the best for Monday and the embarkation of a new work- journey.

!ENGAGE 15

There has already been too much ENGAGE today.

Well, my ideal job I pursued already. Working as a Personal Security Detail for the rich and famous was like living in a movie every day. It was my passion, my DNA and the best job I had, because it suited everything I'm looking for. Adventure, traveling, knowledge, gut feeling, passion, hard work, team spirit, sacrifice. Even though it is a less valued job, often not appreciated by the protectees and coming with a lot of personal sacrifice, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Corona changed everything. But now something new is waiting, let's see what it is.

Yesss. Something is always waiting to be discovered.

I always say to people when they are feeling depressed or dejected that they have a 50% chance of finding something better, more fulfilling and maybe more money too. That's pretty good odds, right? Things like that sometimes turn out (with hindsight) to be the best thing that could ever happen to them.

That's a cool career you've had so far, one can only guess what the next chapter will bring.

Thank you @stevenwood for your nice reply :)...I wouldn't call it a career, it just happened to be a thing I've done and really liked. But change is the only constant and I am getting better in being more optimistic about how things turn out. And with the jobs, something will come up for better or for worse.

I hear ya. I have had many 'careers' that lasted for just one or two weeks, at least one that lasted till my first coffee break and my shortest career was around an hour. Yeah I think becoming resilient to change, promotes a greater optimism and optimism is definitely a learned skill rather than a default setting for most.

I'm sure the big adventure of life will have twists and turns but I am certain your path will be fruitful and fulfilling.😃

So...You've done your ideal job. Ok, where do you go from here? Do you simply find less ideal jobs to do, or do you re-evaluate the ideal job scenario and move in new directions? OK, corona virus forced some change, but that aside...If your ideal job is personal security it makes sense to do that right?

!ENGAGE 15

Good morning :), yes logically it would make sense to keep doing this job.

But reality is it is a tough business, esp. for women. Plus if no one is playing concerts or doing Tv prod = no assignments. Plus we have been flown in a lot, the rich go cheap on many things, trust me lol, and security is not priority period, even though you would think that.
So all in all I let it go in my mind and wait what is to come next.

I haven't planned much in my life, everything just came at the right time and for the right purpose. When there is an opportunity and it fits I'll take whatever comes along.
Corona wasn't to bad, as it gave me at least the weekends off in many years 😄, and I discovered Hive e.g.

I def. don't belong to the people knowing what I want, along the way I figured out what I don't want and that is being a slave for big companies treating their money makers like shit, or small businesses doing the same.

@papilloncharity found its purpose in charity. I always dreamed of having a farm and just taking care of neglected animals, diving and cleaning oceans sounds great too @scubahead , traveling and connecting people as well, sitting in a cabin somewhere writing, or becoming a coroner...you see my mind is spinning around but what it will be in the end I have no clue.

Once you are getting older opportunities come along with Vitamin B or money...for the last I need a lottery win 😂...oh btw with a lottery win I would get an Earthroamer as I told @cmplxty already.

Ok that's a lot now...you all have a great sunday!

Seems like you could go in any direction; No matter which it may be I hope you embrace it, grab it with both hands and do it passionately.

Thanks, I will ... I hope 😄. In the best scenario you guys will read about it here 😁

Well then, I hope the best pans out so you feel inclined to share it with us!

Get after it, make it happen.

Oh yeah, when you are ready it will appear and it will amaze you.
No need to panic as it will find you that's guaranteed and when it finds you, then your world will change.
Just pour 100% of effort into it and you will be sure to be 100% successful.
Thank you for the mention.

Have a Sunday glass of !WINE

🤗 Thanks for your nice words. Needed it right now as I just got back from a clean up walk and there were some German tourist with 3 kids yelling at me like crazy for having Joy walk by our house without a leash.

What the fuck is wrong with ppl, and great that the kids adapt the crappy behavior of their dad as the boy snapped at me how irresponsible I am.
Joy just stood there and they screamed " We have an allergic..."...yeah of course...grrrrrr...👊😄

Hahaha, I normally laugh at people like that. One can understand their fears, as they do not know dogs and will never have one due to their fear.
My wife also had a fear of Staffordshire bull terriers until I introduced her to my boy Max. Now she loves all of them.
There will always be people like that in all spheres of life and one just has to ignore their insults.

So, forgive them and let it flow out of your mind.

Have some !WINE and be happy!

Morning :)

I did laugh it off and was friendly towards them, but it wasn't about fear, it was about the dad making his point. And me being nice made him even more furious. He had to stood his grounds, his wife was looking ;), even though there was nothing to be mad about. Oh well, sad thing is that the kids are adapting such a behavior.

I was frustrated inside but you gotta have a pokerface in a situation like that.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Now there you have it!
My dream died in the army, as after much training I was failed for pilot duties.
I have always wanted to fly and the dream was shattered because they found that I was color blind. Not completely, but in different shades of the same colors.
During the years after I had so many jobs that it would make your ears sing, until the day that I entered the charity world and found my calling.

Being a pilot is a good dream job I think; There's something about being up there, a small speck in the vastness of the atmosphere and yet still in control. Seems like it would be pretty special.

What sort of aircraft were you training for?

Thanks for adding some value to the #weekend-wngagement topic this week. Much appreciated.

!ENGAGE 15

We were only in the basic intake training and once we were cleared, they would send us off to the airfield bases to start the full courses. My dream was the Mirage II Jet.
Instead I ended up at the infantry HQ.

So now that we are living near the same town where I ended up in the military, I feel that I have come full circle. Thousands of miles away from my birthplace up north.
Not that it bothers me, as I have always been a wanderer.

Thank you kindly for the tokens!

Ah yeah the Mirage. The Australian Airforce, the RAAF back then, had some. Cool looking things really.

There's nothing wrong with being a wanderer mate, why the hell not huh? Life's too short to stay in one place and to let the moss grow under our feet.

Oh yeah, it was the ultimate when it was released here and the II mark meant that it could fly at twice the speed of sound. You would have been vexxed by the armaments, but I was more interested in the actual flying experience.
The thing is that I am a bit of a reckless character when it comes to speed and I realised that our good Lord knew what he was doing when he arranged for me to be failed because of my sight 🤣

Since we got married, we have already moved 9 times and I feel that another one is on its way hahaha.

Hope that your day is good mate!

Doing Mach two in a fighter seems like a glorious thing to be doing. If only huh?

Another move? What's up with that? Soon or is it just in the planning phase?

Yeah, good day Zac, shooting at the range, running and gunning. I did good too. 🙂

Oh yeah, that flight would really have been a life long memory and much better that chugging around in a chopper.

We are too close to the main road here on the outskirts of the town as it leads directly to the hospital which is situated between us and the mountains. So being woken up early at 2am in the morning by a sreaming ambulance siren is no fun Galen.
Instead of getting used to it, the irritation increases and earplugs are not an answer as it screams at all hours during the day.

This little cottage with its eco garden is perfect and it has crept into our hearts, bur sanity has to prevail.
We have already spent some money that we don't have to spend on the installation of an Aircon and a new carport roof that I installed, but yeah, sanity prevails.
So we are in the process of looking around for another place.

Lukily we are not too fussy, as we spent 7 years in one room at the start of Papillon and the hope is that we will find something.

Great that you enjoyed the shooting range and doing well should just be normal to you Galen.

Dream job.. I love engineering and music but coming to think of it more, I love making music more than engineering but in the side of the country I come from, it's very rare to see parents who allow their children to advice in music.

If I am to be allowed and if Good pay is in it, I would love to go vast in guitar playing touching mostly Rnb, Jazz, Gospel, and contemporary music.

My Initiative boss is here 😄. I have listened to a video of you playing and I can say you are quite good at it. It's not too late to go further into music.

Regarding pay, I think that will depend on your agent and label company or something. I don't know much about how the financial aspect works but if you had the right marketing group, you'll definitely earn more. Ever played any other instrument apart from the guitar?

Yeah.. The keyboard is one of them but they don't feel like the way it feels to the guitar..

Smile.. I love engineering as well. I can later mix both engineering and music in one.

Guitar playing seems like a pretty good dream job and I know you're passionate about it. That's a good dream job mate, I hope it comes true.

Thanks for joining in this week, it is greatly appreciated.

Wow!!!
I thought you an angry man hehe don't mind me. I saw you playing guitar and it was super amazing.
We would love to listen to more music from you 💝😋

Guitar has been my best friend and companions since childhood. I love it way more than you think.

I say Follow that dream, play every day... A lot of times people with vision get laughed at, a lot of times people say you cannot do that... But you have to follow your heart and your dreams make you become true. So play every day, find a way to make it happen my friend!

Smile. Yeah I wish I can play everyday but other activities are there for me.. Sure I would follow the dream when I have settled my educational matters.

I can see that you have a great passion on music. Let's continue your dream even it's not popular in your hometown but who knows? You will be a famous Guitar-er in Hollywood one day Dear?

Smile... That's a maybe so... A very slim chance 😅 but thanks so much 😊🤗🤗

Great great topic G.! I would love to be doing art for a living. Creating. Doing art vlogs. Doing book vlogs. Streaming. Making traditional and digital art from the comfort of my home. To be able to be free and work from where I go. I would also love to be a writer too. A published successful one. All from home. A job that would allow me the freedom to decide my own schedule and also have time for my family. The 9 to 5 always looked dreadful to me. Also dealing with too many people is uncomfortable for me. So yup. That's kinda it.
!ENGAGE 20

It seems like you're on the way towards your dream job from what I know. I mean there's no shortage of social media links and avenues at the bottom of your posts so it looks like you're at least giving it a go.

Hopefully not works out and you can fully-engage in that passion. It would be good to make ones passion also ones job. Of course, for me, I'd not really want to work at all, just travel, experience new things, learn about stuff, places, people and history and fill my life with that rather than working for one third of my life just to pay the bills. That's heinous.

Thanks for joining in. Have a good weekend.

Exploration! To the stars and beyond? Why not? Still, Earth is a planet, too, and speaking objectively — as interesting as any other in its specific way. And natural exploration is what comes to mind first, but then also ancient civilizations. The dream would be to find "new" ancient civilizations' marks. And then...tell stories about it.

For now, I am happy with telling stories about all kinds of new...or old...experience. All sorts of experience could be fascinating. And I see this space as the opportunity to live that dream job. Experience it, at least, for a while.

Now those ^ were exactly 100 words.

Cheers!

Space exploration seems like a pretty good dream job...Rates up there with time-travelling travel-blogger I think!

I htink exploration in general is something to be valued...I have a desire to know things and delving into history is something I do a lot...I'd love to be able to do it full-time...Maybe I could do a historical travel blog rather than a traditional travel blog?

It seems like you have similar interests.

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment.

!ENGAGE 15

Well, I'd say all kinds of exploration. I'm having trouble with sticking to one thing only. I love both natural sciences And social sciences. But I had the guts to study only the latter in the Uni... But field work is what sounds mostly romantic, seldom realistic.

It's always difficult to narrow things down to best, favourite, most loved etc. That's why I ask for one most often, to make people think harder.

Fair enough. It works.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I love it 🤩, I think we humans are curious by nature and being on that quest feeds us. I also find it fascinating to be a "story teller", you certainly have in #Hive a medium to explore and exploit that dream.

Like it. Cos this is if you could do anything right? So I'm with you. So we need to convince Elon to build us a space ship( that can land without exploding) and sign us up for it. You in ? ;)

I'd rather be planting the tree to take me to space, as the Templars from Hyperion did.

I would be a fiction writer, I love sci-fi, and fantasy. I would not want to be super famous just a guy who could put his stories down on paper and provide a few hours of entertainment to people. But I would want to be a prolific writer, at least one book a month. It would also mean that I had learned to clearly articulate my thoughts and stories to the written form.

Wow getting to one hundred words was hard. This should complete the one hundred word count. Well that didn't but this did make it to one hundred words.

Well, there were even projects about that here. We made a Discord group, we had topics for the yearly quarters and about two months to come up with a story, then one month for reading, discussion and editing. Was a fun year.

Also, I saw a writer publishing chapters as posts here. You know of the writing communities, I suppose. (Sorry, not focused, not stalking all of the familiar names.)

Just keep on writing ;)

Oh yes Hive is a great place for writing, I just have a very hard time staying focused sometimes. There are a lot of writing resources on Hive and I do follow some of the communities.

!ENGAGE 20

And I do plan to keep writing.

I'd love to write for a living, I mean if I was good at writing. I see myself in a beautiful location, a lake, some forest, maybe a little snow in the winter...Write, write write...Seems like a pretty great existence to me. I can see how you'd be attracted to it and I agree it would be so cool.

Thanks for getting on board the #weekend-engagement band wagon for another week, I appreciate your involvement.

A writer... What a great idea!

I bet you are a good writer. Let's make your dream come true by writing a fiction series here on Hive and Sure we all here want to read :)

Great choice. I just happen to know that I am shitty at fiction, but that doesn't mean I haven't tried (and in fact keep trying). I'm guessing you'd be just really good at it.

I came up just short in my hundred. For better or worse :)

I like writing, I am a long long way from even remotely seeing myself as a writer, but I still try. Word counters and I am almost there type comments help. (cheating).

At times, I've been called a writer. I always say "I'm a stacker of words, one on top of the other. I know a couple of writers."

I didn't count the number of words until I read your post. I think I had 96, I always said I'd rather be lucky than good...

Thank you @galenkp for this proposal.

I'm a lawyer, and although I love my profession, I've been feeling the need to make a change about it for a while now.

During this last year (and thanks to the pandemic) I discovered 2 professions that before I didn't take them as such (I saw them more as a hobby, even as unpaid activities): being a blogger and an instructor of meditation and holistic themes.

Dedicating myself to these activities this past year has awakened a passion that I no longer feel in the practice of my profession as a lawyer.

Blessings to all ✨

Does that mean you're no longer available for free legal advice?

Yes, of course. Whenever I can help, I am happy to do so.

What I wanted to say is that in law I am not finding the satisfaction that these activities give me, I have discovered that I like writing a lot in my blog and also that teaching classes I feel very good, motivated and inspired. These 2 activities I did as a hobby and this last year I have received remuneration for them and that has shown me that I can have a possibility to do other things different from law to earn money.

I am still not sure if I will give up my career completely, it is just a concern that haunts my mind and heart at the moment.

Though different, I, too, have haunts. Where can we go and when can we go there. It's making me crazy. All we wanna do is leave but instead all we can do is talk about it.

UPS!!! It's just that these are ideas that keep popping into the head over and over again. In my case, since I haven't made any major changes yet I think it haunts me 🤪

It's always interesting to hear someone move away from their current field and into a completely different area like you have done.

Life tends to move us along and sometimes the paths we take don't always seem to be the ones we expect.

Combining those two passions would work quite well I think and they seem like a good dream job to me, one you are living.

Have you got plans to expand your holistic blogging even further and if so how?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the topic this week.

!ENGAGE 15

It really is a big change!.

When I started the blog I started writing about very diverse topics, at this moment I am evaluating whether to redirect it only to the holistic topic or to open another account for that. Also taking some steps in thinking about the presentation (logo and all that). Evaluating if it is convenient to prepare material for YouTube.

I think I need to fine tune more details in the conceptualization, there are a lot of things to take care of, but I'm flowing with what comes up.

Thank you very much for your feedback, any advice is welcome 🙏🏻🤗

Blessings ✨

These things tend to have a life of their own and you may need to pivot this way or that as tings unfold. That you're doing it is the main thing and I wish you all the best with it moving forward.

True! It's important to be receptive and willing to go with the flow depending on what comes up. Thank you for your words @galenkp.

I hope you successfully undertake that dream of being a travel blogger. It's a fascinating job.

I loved this weekend's proposal 🤗

Receptive to ideas and willing to change is a good way to be. ✅

I'm glad you liked the topic and am pleased you stopped by.

There has already been too much ENGAGE today.

Cool topic @galenkp! When I read something about work I cringed for a second but was looking up in the end ;)

I think I've talked about this before on one of your topics, but I would love be a nature photographer /videographer.
I would love to work on an Animal Planet/Discovery type documentary! (shout out to David Attenborough!)
I'm sure it requires a lot of patience and it's not always action but the end results is just beautiful. I think it makes an impact on those wanting to learn more about the planet/the animals.
And I imagine it has this truly adventurous element where you'd have to travel to remote locations to get the best shots so it's a win-win-win!

This picture of yours is very beautiful. If you did took this photograph, then I am sure you will do well as a nature videographer provided with the appropriate resources. Moreover, travelling would be the best part of this job.

It's mine.. Thanks 😃.
Luckily I've already traveled a lot so I definitely love that perk.. The challenge now becomes, where to begin??? 😃

Ugh! Spiders give me panic attacks 😄. I believe you will do great as a photographer/videographer. I'm not too good with cameras except my phone's.

When you say documentaries, means you would have to study a lot about animals (depending on the subject). I guess you like animals then. Will this also include sea animals? 😄 Or just those on land?

Wait.. You are scared of spiders? 😅😂😂

What about cockroaches then?

Oh no! Cockroaches are worse because they are dirty and creepy. I don't like insects generally, may be because they have too many legs 😆

Lol.. I hate them too. They irritate and disgust me.

Hahaha nobody is a fan of cockroaches man... Nobody!!

I love animals and nature... And I wouldn't mind including sea animals but it terms of documenting them I think it's whole different ball game. Lots of special equipment for example. So maybe I'll start on land and work from there :)

 3 years ago (edited)

I cringe when I think about work too my man, but in this case it's all good...It's just hypothetical work!

I think a nature photographer would be cool. I watch a lot of documentaries and some show behind the scenes of making the show...Those National Geographic boys and girls have some patience! They see some amazing stuff though.

This is a legit dream job and the G-dog approves!

Thanks for participating again this week, you're a regular and I appreciate it.

!ENGAGE 15

Haha thanks! I knew you would approve!

That's the part I'm also interested in, to see how what it actually takes to get all those shots, I'm sure it's not all glamorous/ action-packed.

Also my pleasure, the topics are fun so that keeps it interesting.

There's little glamour from what I saw in those documentaries, just a lot of waiting around and doing nothing. Still, what an amazing job! I'd do it.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

That would be such a cool job to have. Travel around the world taking pictures of animals in the natural environment, capturing the beauty that is the world. Awesome!

Thanks! Who knows, might still go for something similar this year :)

This would be so cool! I always watch in awe their videos, it must be fun and also tiresome to be part of the crew

Yes! I think people underestimate what the crew does just to get a shot. It might be 5 seconds in the documentary but they'd still have to carry the equipment, set up and WAIT for the right shot

Exactly. It makes me appreciate documentaries even more!

Love it @gvkante. As a nature lover, I love all the work of nature. I don't think it's your dream...you are doing it well. Look at your picture...!!! Amazing 😍

Thank you! This is extra motivation!

Thanks @galenkp it is great to think about an ideal job. I would like to be a culture and surf guide. I enjoy showing friends around where I live and would love to do that in places around the world that I'm interested in (which is everywhere).

That's a cool job...Sort of like a tour-guide I suppose, with a difference.

I think this would be a cool job as most of the people you got to work with would be in a happy mood as they are on holiday. I like the culture aspect also as it would open up the chance to share stories, history and information about the locality rather than just pointing out features. Add in some surfing and I'd say you've got yourself a pretty decent operation.

would love to do that in places around the world that I'm interested in (which is everywhere).

I also like how you've narrowed down your AOE to everywhere...Seems totally legit to me.

Hmmmm this is , for me, one of those be careful of what you wish for questions. I always had a passion for all things scuba. Being underwater, the trave, the gear, the feeling of being weightless and of course the epic marine encounters. The old saying if you can do what you love for a living then you'll never work a day in your life....well that's complete bollocks. The danger of doing something you love for work is that there's the danger you'll lose the love for it. Over the last 25 years I've had this happen a lot to the point where I didn't even want to get in the water and if another person shows me a photo of a fish they'll get a slap. I realise now I am winding down and taking a step away from it that I'd reached burnout a long time ago. I now look forward to diving with no work relation whatsoever. In fact when @diveratt was still in the Philippines we used to sneak off for cheeky dives in front of where we lived. Was it the best dive site? No. Did we love it? Yes cos no bugger as around and we always saw turtles and stuff and were lucky enough to sea eagle rays also. That reminded me what i really loved about diving. So, without wanting to be a killjoy, I'd say choose wisely, find a nice balance. Loving to do something and 'Having' to do something are two very different things entirely.

But i will answer though. I've already had my dream job for many years but now if I could I'd travel leicurely, sample food and beers at will and have people pay me to waffle on about it but it would have to all be on my terms because if I get burned out drinking beer and eating cheesecake then I'm done 🤣

So...A travel/food writer...Sounds like a good thing and something I'd be keen on too.

I'm with you with the other matter too, doing what you love as a hobby, for a job, could mean burnout or at least less enjoyment when you're doing it for leisure. It's not quite the same, but when I was a sponsored long rang shooter I thought thins is cool. I loved shooting at long range, was good at it and getting paid sponsorship? What's not to like....Then came the need to perform at higher levels, to practice more, represent the sponsors...Pressure, pressure, pressure... I started to lose the enjoyment as it took the fun out of it. So, I get what you mean.

!ENGAGE 15

There has already been too much ENGAGE today.

They were good dives, nothing very taxing but always something interesting to see and surprise you.

and no other divers!!!!!

Your words are true, loosing the passion while pursuing a dream job.
I have had my dream job as well, all the other jobs in between were for making a living. Mostly as a bartender because that is the easiest to hop on and off. It is fun when being able to work on my terms, I'm good in everything if I like it and they let me. I love my freedom and cannot stand a bossy environment, esp if people above me know shit.
Studies suggest that changing a job every 4-5 years is the best and keeps the interest steady...but how many companies offer a career change?
It is either stay free and flexible and perish poor, or keep a job for long and...perish poor and burned out lol.

Hey scuba diving is not your dream job as you doing it well for years haha.!! Wow we always saw turtles and stuff and were lucky enough to sea eagle rays also I wish I were lucky like you hehe but first of all I have to register a scuba diving course :))

yep, once you are certified to dive you'll see a lot more turtles and rays. There's always the elusive stuff but the more you are in the water the more you eventually see. I've been diving since 1995 so had plenty of years to see stuff. I fancy a change though now. Time to do something different

I would still want to make art. Art is love...happiness...freedom...Art is life.

But assuming that money would be not an issue I think that I would also try to travel more and blog about those adventures. It is interesting how different environments and conditions would affect me and my art.

Another travel blogger...Join the club!

Maybe we should start a travel-blogger college where people learn the art of travel blogging! At a fee of course! cold be a good money-spinner!

So tell me, where would yo go first? If you were a travel blogger.

Thanks for jumping in this week and having a go. I appreciate you showing up each week.

!ENGAGE 15

So tell me, where would yo go first?

Hivefest, Venice, Japan, Greece...If I was really rich maybe I would buy a yacht and travel the seas.

The yacht sounds like a good idea...There's an Australian chap here on hive that has been doing it for two years with his family. He's a legit photographer. You should have a look at @intrepidphotos

I am passionate about a few things, I know I would enjoy making a living as a speaker, I have always wanted to be a motivational speaker to the masses, to put my knowledge and experience out there to see if one day it transcends in a big way in someone's life. My favorite area includes the drive to overcome challenges, being resilient and maintaining the right attitude towards life.

And as a last option my ideal job would be as a writer, in the peace of meditation and the satisfaction of the value brought to others. I would lean towards topics geared towards relationship with God and knowing oneself and accepting oneself.

Being a motivational speaker seems like a nice thing to want to do...Make a difference to people who need it.

So, can I ask, do you share some of this motivational stuff, your knowledge and wisdom on the blockchain. You know there's a Self Improvement community begun by @stevenwood in which your motivational content wold fit quite nicely.

Thanks for stopping in this week and adding your input, it's greatly appreciated.

!ENGAGE 15

Ohh how nice, I have lacked the time to explore every nook and cranny of the blockchain, I will surely stop by to let my content fly. Thank you very much once again.

You're welcome.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

I have a friend from US. He started being a motivational speaker when he decided to live in Viet Nam. I love the way he speaks and motivates people. Being a motivational speaker to the masses is really a cool job and I'm admired that. I appreciate your another option is being a writer in the peace of meditation and the satisfaction of the value. Not only me but also many people caring about these things nowadays so I hope you can make it become true in the future. It would be great :)

Yes, maybe it can become a reality later on, just as it happened with your friend. The limits are imposed by ourselves. One of the things I like the most is to be useful to others and it would be of great satisfaction to be able to achieve it.

Hello @galenkp good afternoon

Excellent the subject that you have touched this weekend
I am 52 years old, I worked more than half of my life (30 years) under a dependency relationship managing supermarkets, to be honest I really enjoyed doing it, when I stopped doing it, I made the most difficult decision, which was to resign to live on the web, the compensation I receive here is my source of income, which makes this my job.
I really like what I do, I would like to be able to travel and see the world, and make known the places I visit, the hotels where I stay, the nature of each place, and watch birds. I wish the latter since I was a child.

Thank you very much for what you do and for allowing us to express ourselves.

I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid weekend

Travelling is an excellent experience and something I value highly. I'd do it all day every day ahead of work, no matter how much I liked me job. Life comes before work. I think you'd be a good travel blogger. You have a nice way with words.

Thanks for joining in this week. 🙂

It is true what you say, "life is before work" it hurts that we realize that at a certain age, I have wasted many years of my life and that of my children by putting work first.
Thank you very much for appreciating my way of communicating.

enjoy the rest of the afternoon

Hey dear, glad to see you around here this weekend. Well, 30 years working for something, sure it’s totally difficult to leave. 52 years old is not too late for traveling, I met some of foreigners who traveling here in VN many of them are 60-70..:) O think it doesn’t matter of age or time, just you want and make it happen :) I hope you had a great weekend :) See you around 😊

Hello dear friend @trangbaby good day
I really appreciate your comment. It is true, age is not an impediment, in my case it is the economic factor, you know that to travel, you need a lot of money.
I take this opportunity to wish you a beautiful afternoon and a happy start to the week

Yeah, you are right dear. We need to work hard for it. Thank you and the same to you 🙂

My ideal job...

While I don't think I am cut out as a travel blogger like you, I don't mind writing a word or two, so it would likely feature heavily. But perhaps, I would like to be someone who helps innovation teams increase and develop their ideas toward things that are useful for us all. It'd be great to get paid to do work that really matters.

Seems like a good job and a little direction can go a long way. Work that really matters...Yeah, it'd be nice to be paid for that. I'd also like to get paid for doing no work at all. No work, all pay, makes for a better day. Bank that quote, it's a keeper.

Engage! Kicking ass :)

I want to clean pools and tidy up the surrounding foliage. That is all.

You mean at the Playboy mansion?

Yeah, sounds like a good job...Pools need cleaning and foliage needs tidying. I think you might have just struck upon the most legit dream job ever. Wold you also be that dude who cleans out that purple dye in the pool after someone pisses in it? #dreamjob

haha! I just mentioned piss elsewhere - it's catching!

Dream job man. Headphones on, sun shining, possibility of fitties getting their tan on, and satisfaction that you unearthed a closet pool pisser - what's not to like?!

Catchy piss Asher...One must keep one's wits about one where piss is concerned.

Headphones on, sun shining, possibility of fitties getting their tan on, and satisfaction that you unearthed a closet pool pisser

Amen brother. Amen.

#fittiesgettingtheirtanon should be trending

Agreed. @eveuncovered .................................. Last year will do :)

👍

😂 lol, true question, maybe @scubahead is offering some diving suits, then it doesn't matter if someone pisses in the pool.

 3 years ago (edited)

Scuba to the rescue...He's a good chap, saving people from piss wherever he goes. 🙂

problem with rental suits is they've all been pissed in already. 2 types of diver those that piss in their wetsuits and those that lie about it 🤣

...And you just successfully talked me out of ever hiring scuba gear.

everything else is ok to hire but wetsuits.....I always used to say" would you wear someone elses underwear" this could of course send the conversation down many different paths.....

I was thinking recently, if I had my time over; I think I'd like to be a manufacturing jeweller. There's something about taking a valuable stone and some valuable gold, and putting them together carefully and creatively, to add more value.
Handmade, one of a kind pieces are always going to be popular, and it can be done anywhere. I like the simplicity of it.

I wouldn't have expected this mate but it's a cool answer. We went to a manufacturing jeweller in Thailand once, just for a look. They were stone cutting and making pieces and it was fascinating. We didn't buy anything of course, one never knows what they'd be getting over there, but it was interesting.

We also had Faith's eternity ring made by one, here in Adelaide. (Bell and Brunt). I can certainly understand the attraction to the job after going through the design phase with the guy.

It's not to be surprised now and then and you did just now with your comment.

Thanks for getting amongst it.

!ENGAGE 15

Yeah..that sounds interesting... The creativity used in constructing the jewell would also add more value to the item. It would also be very nice to see your work used by other people as well.

We met a dude in Israel who made jewellery out of stones. We ended up getting Pura an Amethyst necklace for her digestive issues.

Doesn't work worth a shit but at least we sponsored local talent.

Thanks @galenkp - posted a post in the community xx

👍

Bout time someone points out your consistency with topics. I woulda ran out of ideas around week 3. You've not only maintained quality topics but also managed to smash the gas pedal. Very nice, sir.

With all due respect, I'll have to return another time and divulge a dream occupation cuz I can't seem to get these R-rated careers outta my head.

Let's see what you come up with if you drop back. I'm sure something interesting no matter what it is.

Well at least they're not X rated.

100 words or less, I've been thinking about this one. I don't wanna sound like that guy but being paid to travel is what we were doing and awaiting take off time to get back at it. I'm The Luckiest Guy I Know.

Really, I just want to find that place Galen, that place. The sea isn't far, a few peddles away at most. It's not too hot, not too cold, they're culturally accepting to foreigners, the seafood is to die for, medicine is free, and it doesn't cost 1/2 your wages to survive.

This <-- that's the 103rd word so I'm over the limit. But that place. Should we find it..

I wanna send my dogs off to be in movies and home protection and stuff like that but more importantly, I just wanna be a good husband man.

I knew you were travelling a lot but I didn't know it was paid work. That's pretty awesome dude! We love travelling so much, and am really good at it, and to have the chance to be paid for it at the same time? Yeah, I could do that!

You know, someone who I interact with a lot on hive just told me their plan, a plan that has already deployed, and it is of a similar thing as above. I don't want to say of course as I was told in confidence, but my words were pretty much, fuck off I hate you, when I was told...

Of course, what that translates to is, nice work I applaud your hard work and effort in making this dream a reality and I'm supportive and excited for you. I'm really keen to see that thing actually kick off, which should be happening in a matter of weeks, and how it unfolds. It' going to be a great adventure. I'm a little jealous, but Faith and I are working on our own gap year scenario in which we'll travel around Australia and blog so...We're on it.

I like your that place comment. It's highly likely we'll be in that situation, you know, find somewhere we just have to stay and do so. When we take off there'll be no reason for us to come back here, no family ties. My dad is gone, may he RIP, and we'd not go until Faith's mum's scenario had played out...So, we'd be pretty free, just Faith and I and the world around us.

103 words huh? That's ok, I said around 100 so you're all good.

!ENGAGE 15

I'm sure you have hit the good husband goal already dude, and if not then you're actively working on it so do more of the same.

Thanks for this response.

Be careful what your wish for on that we don't have a reason to come back stuff, trust me! We didn't have one either and then, well, 2020 happened and here we are.

Soon as we got here I was, 'property, home, dogs...' but it didn't take long for that to change. We got a good view on the way the rest of the world lives. The US has some perks, I love this place. But if we're going down the checklist of wants, unwants, necessities, and can live without's, US doesn't even make the list if Pura's family wasn't here.

Interestingly enough, it's my friends who have never left the country or, more specific, to this day don't possess a passport because "this is the best country, I have no reason to go anywhere."

Do you guys have a direction? NW, SE? Anywhere you won't go? Anywhere you're leaning toward staying?

I have that specific climate in mind so we're thinking Europe. I don't know for sure dude but I'm willing to give a shot. Drop me off in Portugal, we'll either stay there or continue east until something grabs us and we can't leave. And if it's not in Europe, we'll just keep going. I've heard Africa wouldn't be a top choice but I've also heard Morocco is gorgeous so I really need to investigate it further. That's the dream anyway.

Be careful what your wish for on that we don't have a reason to come back stuff, trust me! We didn't have one either and then, well, 2020 happened and here we are.

I guess I just meant that once Faith's mum is gone we will have zero family here in South Australia to hold us here. We could settle anywhere and travelling around the country will give us a good concept of where we my like to go.

We've been all over the eastern seaboard from South Australia around and up to Cairns in the very north, done some central regions, Alice Springs to Darwin, but never to the west so we'll head that way first. We have an off-road camper trailer so will tow that behind the big-dog and go wherever we want. We are not planning to settle elsewhere, but who knows if it happens or not? We'd not think of settling in another country I think, although I won't rule it out.

Sounds like you guys are about as up in the air as we are.

Travel trailer. Pura and I did that man, we traveled the west coast of US with a 28ft 5th wheel back in 2016. That was a good year.

I like your style.

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

Not too hot not too cold and seafood to die for..well, Da Nang welcome you :) Just Medicine is not free, the rest I think is just right for that place :))

Thank you!! We would love to, especially now. What's the price of medicine there? I guess I could've been more specific and said "reasonable" rather than free unlike here where it's a minimum $1,800/month and you haven't even seen a doctor yet.

Oh that’s too much. It depends. There are a few international hospitals here. The local doctor or private clinics here are cheap and 😊 No fee for appointment. I don’t complaint :)

And one thing is we do accepting and love having foreigners here.

Promise? Are you sure it's your whole community and not just you?

yeah, I had to roll with the Male Prostitute/Escort cuz I can not dance...

I considered that but came up a little short and decided to go with R rated instead.

Hollywood B actresses maybe with some nudity and adult language but my high paying job is Lead Thermostat Operator.

Two words...
